Doesn't that just mean you are going to spend a lot of time in hyperspace?

Astronavigation and calculating those jumps gonna be a headache.

Thats like taking the back country to get to the Interstate rather than taking a highway to get to the interstate.

My point is, hes looking at the hyperlanes, meaning he wouldn't be looking in the right place (I am not saying what he did was impossible, just where hes looking it would. )

To answer your question, yes, it would mean longer time. But the Assault force was not pressured for time and needed surprise, especially against Gyndine.

I don't use standard Hyperlanes cause Warden of the Sky training and Aedan is a pirate. I hate well known hyperlanes generally means police or military. They are just annoying.

Soooooo As the fleeters will notice, im making a cameo as a POV for the battle at Gyndine... and as you will also notice, this Yusan might not be the same one that used to love the Republic to the point of giving his life for it.

they not using hyperlanes is no big deal, the Chiss never use them, They have beacons. It is totally possible to move through hyperspace without using a hyperlane. Maybe they have their own lane mapped. And also it is well within a single jump for the distances being jumped. The Empire did that, had special lanes mapped that were only known to them. SO the no HYperlane thing is cool. Moving on. :)

Hey Gir Quee. My ships aren't using hyperlanes, for the very reason of avoiding the kind of stuff that you pointed out.

I understand that you're not using major hyperlanes such as the Nanth'ri Route or the Ootmian Pabol, which was the intent of my post.

My understanding is that you were taking "backroad routes" with hyperspace travel. Caius's analogy is pretty solid. Much like traveling on the g round in real life, hyperspace is not a realm that does not have obstacles or hazards. This is a major reason why major hyperlanes exist. So if we have obstacles, but definition, there are only a set number of ways to go around them. And if you're trying to maneuver around multiple obstacles, your route options become more and more limited. These are routes that typically would be used by smugglers and the like, as alluded to by my post. Alternatively, you could try to take jumps around each obstacle, which would certainly be less predictable, would also take a lot longer time. And the longer amount of time that you spend in an enemy space (especially one as populated as the expansion region), the more likely someone will stumble across you.

But if you're not using hyperlanes or hyperspace travel of some sort, that means you're travelling solely at sublight speeds (in other words, no hyperdrive). If you're traveling at sublight speeds, this means that your ships have already been traveling for weeks on end in this hex. As with the argument about making a jump around each obstacle, I would argue that someone is bound to have stumbled upon your ships at least once by now, given the relatively large population of the Expansion Region and time your ships have been lingering there in our space.

Who said i wasnt moving at hyperspace travel? You dont need hyperlanes to use Hyperspace. This isnt Mass effect and their relays. One does not equal the other.

I didn't say that it did, which is why I explained the various options of how this could happen. If you do want a more detailed explanation of hyperspace navigation that isn't by me, check out this link. I'd also recommend checking out the Essential Atlas and Galaxy Guide 8 - Scouts, if this is a topic that interests you.

But ultimately, the end result is the same: wherever the carrier fleet ends up being, my fleet will be there as well.
