Chancellor's Office | Senate Building, Coruscant

Auteme took a deep breath, fixed her posture, then motioned to her aide.

"I'm ready, send them in." She took her position, looking regally out at the Coruscanti skyline.

I ran a thread like this a while back. Was fun, taking another crack at it. Anyways, you've scored a meeting with the Chancellor for whatever reason (hopefully a good one), better make the most of it.

The Pantoran strode through the doorway of the Chancellor's office, slinking its slim frame into the closest seat opposite her. It's face was flat, neutral and inexpressive. The blue hand rose onto the centre of the chest, pressing it with a palm before fizzling blue lights cascading away, revealing the bounty hunter in the same grime-covered heap of worn and weathered beskar.

"Don't make too much of a fuss, Chancellor." Said Koda, lounging uncharacteristically in the chair.

Taken by that Kaminoan Jedi for a job that was never followed through with. Sitting around somewhere in an Alliance facility, little pieces of his genetic code remained preserved in waiting. He didn't like that.

Auteme didn't turn immediately, instead giving herself a moment to check herself. The brief flash of rage she felt was not entirely for her own sake -- she remembered Kirie, laying shattered in that hospital bed. The pain her friend had gone through to rescue her. Why? For a few credits. The man now sitting across from her desk was a pathetic shell that she had no interest in talking to.

But he was here nonetheless. The feelings that brought her were... surprising.

Perav, her aide at the door, took a step, but Auteme held her hand up and the woman froze.

"Koda Fett," she said, her tone disturbingly neutral, "why are you here?"

"I struck a deal with one of your Jedi; Ka Rai, she never followed on with it and now I want my end of said deal back." Fett said flatly, yet his neutral tone was forever somewhere between uttered coldly and bitterly, "With that business on Rodia escalated to a point that serves me, the Chancellor shouldn't agitate any other Mandalorian and instead return my DNA to me."

The Kaminoan Jedi feared a convergence event, of the mind that new soldiers with old and proven DNA could come to benefit them all. For a price, Koda demanded. He never got what was entirely owed.

"If someone can have it pulled, it's you."

"She was, is. Either or, it's of little interest to me. Some Kaminoan, wished to clone myself and craft some new force from fear of a convergence - what the Jedi meant or saw, I'm not so sure."

Lia Ka Rai Lia Ka Rai was unheard of since. A shame, all that wasted effort to round up clones. It would've made for a finely crafted grand army.

"I was never made aware if this was sanctioned or not. The Jedi seem to operate on their own rules, now more so than ever. I hear it caused a fair share of troubles in the senate, Chancellor, with some that wish to restrict the movement of Jedi altogether."

"Hm," the brief chortle of amusement escaped from beneath the helmet's lip, the only other accompanying sound came from the fabric rustling while his helmeted head tilted to one side. "You're less indulgent than the others," Koda said, knowing well that most other politicians cowered and were readily providing information on things they ought not to, though the Chancellor was more than just a politician, wasn't she?

"Then again," the Mandalorian commented dryly, "this isn't our first meeting."

If not for the intervention of others, perhaps their first would have been their last.

He leaned in close, a hand on the rear of the chair while another on the desk itself. "Look her up, that Jedi. I want to know where she keeps it."

Auteme folded her arms right back. Her tone flipped almost immediately, and her words took on a slight Coruscanti accent. "Oh, it's not? Well, I'd expect a professional to respect my space and privacy.

"Just as a simple reminder -- because things can get so complicated when talking, of course -- that I am here, very patiently helping you with something that you have so kindly come here to request aid for. I found your request suitably respectful, but I'm now finding that respect seems to be optional for you. If you cannot handle even the slightest discretion, the very barest of trust; if that is the hill you are willing to die on, then we can go ahead and skip to the part where you are escorted out of here. I can arrange for a vehicle for your transport to more suitable accommodations.

"But, should we be able to find some common ground, I suspect that this meeting will prove fruitful for the both of us. Now, the choice is entirely yours; I know which one I would recommend, but I would never try to take from you your freedom." She smiled. "Now, if you don't mind -- I'd be happy to go for a walk later, if you have the time, but for now we should see about this."

Levhi straightened his tunic for the umpteenth time, smoothing it over non-existent creases, to the amusement of the aide. Three years after it's formation, the Al'Har Federation had reached a level of stability that one could feasibly posit that it represented the interests of all of Haruun Kal, Korunnai and settler (also known as Balawai) alike. With the legitimacy of the government established, it was now time to start making in-roads with the larger galactic community.

A history of exploitation and colonization by virtually every major galactic power of the last millenia made the very idea of voluntarily reaching out to the Galactic Alliance sent the High Council into a frenzy, but Levhi managed to prevail. He was hoping this meeting would lay the foundation of a mutually beneficially, healthy relationship between the Alliance and the Federation. So here he was, in front of the Chancellor's office.

Lehvi started straightening his tunic again, when the aide cleared her throat. "The Chancellor is ready to see you, sir", she said, hiding mouth with her hand. Nodding stiffly, he took a deep breath before he entered the chambers. He spared a glance at the Mandalorian, inclining his head, then bowed.

"Madam Chancellor, an honor to meet you. I would love to speak with you at length about establishing relations between Haruun Kal and the Alliance."

The armour froze, unmoving while the visored face met the gaze of the Chancellor. Unflinching as it was, it betrayed the curious confusion that lay dormant beneath it. In half wonderment of whether the Chancellor had lost her mind, Fett was left more akin to a statue. A tinny breath left him, eventually.

As if defeated, the Mandalorian returned to his seat.

"What's your angle?"

"Thank you."

She went back to look at the screen and tapped away. "Oh, I didn't really have one when you asked. Cloning is immoral. You have your right to your body, your DNA, all that. If you're facing extraordinary hurdles to maintaining that right, you deserve extraordinary help.

"That being said, I mean -- a single celled organism could figure out what they'd want from you, if they were in my position right now."

A few more clicks, and she sat back a little. "It seems like Ka Rai has a facility on Kamino." Her brow furrowed slightly, and she looked past the display to Fett. "You've looked there, though, right?"
