SPECIAL FEATURES
- FTL speed: This missile has a cruising speed at sublight speed, making it insanely hard to intercept once it has managed to reach this speed. Downside to this is that due to this cruising speed, most of the data for targeting has to be input into the missile's onboard droid brain and computing elements prior to launch and can't be alterede afterwards, meaning tht any change in situation will not affect the missile's intended and regulated target.
- Segmented: This missile is made up out of multiple sections, with the main propulsion part in the back, utilizing a small scale NZ Hermes 980HIF/SE engine coupled to a small scale NZ C.H.A.R.M.01 reactor to allow for extremely long range launches and the ability to reach speeds necessary to activate the chemical and electronic reactions upon impact.
- Dual Sequence missile: Akin to other types of ordinance within the N&Z's line up, the HMM-SB1 utilizes a dual sequence ignition trigger, allowing for a more precisely timed activation of its internals and larger impact in an overall sense. With the Coaxium-Neuranium core triggering a implosion-Explosion sequence upon the core's collapse, this shockwave aligned with the internal systems of the SPECTRE will create an overloading burst of electromagnetic dispersion in the form of both an immensely high heat shockwave and an electromagnetic pulsewave of very high calibre rippling through and effectively capable of shredding most molecular and particle based shielding and the electronics used to maintain the shield systems.
- High Velocity missile: very hard to intercept by any point defense systems due to immense acceleration and cruising speed
- Eridium alloy internal shell: protects the missiles internals from heat and shocks upon atmospheric entry
- very sensitive impact trigger
- Easily programmable
- Hard to override or slice at cruising speed
- Very high range of impact effect
- Once launched, can't be overridden through normal means
- minute course shifts are impossible once cruising speed has been achieved
- Hard to override or slice at cruising speed - this applies to the ones effectively pulling the trigger as well
- Very costly to produce and transport
- Multilayered shield systems on a large scale may need multiple HMM-SB1's to fully penetrate and deactivate
The NZ HMM-SB1 is a reactive design on the demand and recommendation of its Mahporeem division. It was proposed as a means to counter the propoagation of massive shielding installations and planetary shield systems, though due to the nature of such a request an investigation had to be done to maintain the applicability of the liabilities when such a weapon or ordinance would be used. After quite the extensive research, it was decided that the most likely means of delivering either a payload or effective means to disable shield systems would have to have been a missile, as any sort of laser or maser would most likely have to contend with additional side-effects that could not be controlled and non-selpropelled shells did not have the accuracy necessary to safeguard the possibility for collateral damage.
To create the means, the high energy impact necessary to even manage to overwhelm shield systems, the company looked at their own NZ IEPC.8000 Ionized Electromagnetic Plasma Cannon 'Apollyon' and their NZ Warp Star - Type RED Warhead for inspiration, utilizing the former as inspiration for the dual sequence impact trigger, while the latter's explosion-implosion collapsing core was reengineered in order to create the necessary high frequency, high yield burst necessary to overwhelm particle and molecular shields, while providing the extreme heat to weaken electronics and magnetism and to act as a means of travel for the secondary trigger in the form of an High Heat Inducted electromagnetic pulse.
Combining both the electromagnetic pulse and the high heat plasma shockwave the HMM-SB1 is meant to not just shatter or tear through planetary shields, but to overload and desintegrate the shield and possibly the very system maintaining it.
