Question NPC vs PC

So I'm working on a queen for my species, my question is: if their a PC can I also use them as a npc and should I make a sperate NPC thing for her?

Cuz my idea is at times I'll play her then other times I'll be Zavik Maltheris who's the one allied with her and would be around her and she'll be more NPC then.

I'm just not sure what I should really do for that and part of it is it's 5:14 am and I'm very tired and my brain isn't fully working right now

Unless you're intending on other people puppeting this Queen I would suggest making them both PC's and posting them individually to interact with one another. Sometimes an NPC is created and then becomes a PC but we usually don't see both being written and existing at the same time.

There's no rule saying you can't make them a PC and an NPC but there's some issues there. Ex.) NPC'S don't really have the same weight and protection that a PC does. If it were me?

Make them both PC unless the Queen will only be interacting with this other character of yours. If that's the case you don't need to make it either one... You can just have her cameo as a side character in the other characters posts. Lots of people do that with family, friends, that aren't made to be written on their own and just show up occasionally in another characters post.

If you intend to have the Queen involved in PVP however I would definitely make her a character profile if she isn't just background.

Chikarri Mercenary and Combat Medic
For my part, whenever I do or intend to do anything like that, I pick one character as the "main" and play by posting as them, while keeping the other character's profile out of the picture entirely.

For example, I have Korben here and my Paigun scientist Fohv - each have their own profiles and bios already. If I wanted Korben to encounter Fohv and shoot him in the foot, I'd make Korben my main and play as her. While using Korben's profile, I simply write occasionally from his perspective as a minor character alongside Korben's "main character" passages, use a few posts to build up an encounter (or one post if they happen to be in close proximity) and write them meeting each other, maybe switch perspectives a time or two throughout during an encounter-turned-fight scene, before ending things by switching to Korben and have her shoot him in the foot, then leaving poor Fohv behind in agony - doing all of this action with Korben's profile, as a player using multiple profiles in the same game is frowned upon here.

Use the one profile to give the other character a brief "co-star" set of posts before the encounter, then finish the encounter and move on as the main character, leaving the other behind at a natural stopping point. Just like how authors use the third person perspective to switch between different characters with different motivations and perspectives in a single story.

I hope that helps. Sorry that I'm a bit long-winded.
