Holonet No One's Interested in Something You Didn't Do

On the Outer Rim world of Dressel, a story is unfolding of a trial. The defendant? A smuggler named Rix Halcyon. Until today his name was unknown, but now people all over the holonet are talking about him. The Dresselians have got him on 17 counts of smuggling, and the accusations are flying back and forth of Black Sun and Hutt Cartel involvement. In a shocking turn of events however, the planetary authorities brought new charges, revealing evidence that Halcyon had killed someone after the smuggling deal gone wrong that had led to his arrest. Now on trial for murder, he awaits judgement, and the galaxy awaits the verdict, but people are torn. Some think its a ploy by the prosecution to win the case. No one truly knows if he did it or not, the evidence, some say, is not sufficient. The Dresselians are a peaceful people, now faced with an unwanted media frenzy. They can't just let him go, but could they condemn an innocent man?

But who is Rix Halcyon? No one can agree, and that makes the jury's decision much harder. What we do know is he's a human male, a spacer type, a rough cockpit cowboy by all accounts. But is he to be taken at face value, or is he hiding something deeper? Rumors abound of a scoundrel extraordinaire, a con-man, a serial killer, even a spy. Conspiracy theories link him to Imperial deep state intelligence as often as they do Black Sun narco-gangsters. Some insist that he's innocent, others are eager to bring out the book on him. His defendants say what they will, but no one's interested in something you didn't do...

--------------------

Trying out something fun, a crowd-sourced rumor mill for a new character, something to give him a funny reputation that precedes him. Rix Halcyon is at the center of a whirlwind of misinformation, so leave something down below that you might have heard about him, from the mundane to the preposterous. Maybe you know him, maybe you you just think you do. What legend could a smuggler have accidently picked up for himself? And more importantly, what was he smuggling?

Herglic Space boasted forty star systems in dense labyrinthine configuration, an ancient and pragmatic place where all but the worst galactic cataclysms could fail to penetrate.

On a Herglic trade station, however, getting fuelled up by a bipedal cetacean twice his height, Tilon heard the story of Rix Halcyon Rix Halcyon , triply disgraced former consort to the Herglic heiress Titanon of South Giju. Terrible scandal, terrible crimes, truly a whale of a tale.

The hand of god be my witness, what a savings
"...so there the pair of us are, me and this kid, and we've got five guns and three shots left between'em. We're up on this mesa on Ord Mantell and you can see the whites of the Jedis' eyes. See, the thing about andris spice is at this end it's harmless food flavoring and at that end it's mondo-addictive, and it's a whole spectrum in between, and where the ban line is, that varies sector by sector, port by port, and I swear we were free and clear on the right side of the law, but oh, those Jedi..."

"You expect us to believe you and some kid held off two Jedi with three blaster shots til frelling morning?"

"Till frelling midnight. Because that kid, that was Rix Halcyon Rix Halcyon . And we didn't just have andris, we had death sticks. Funny thing about death sticks. You get enough ixetal cilona in one place, high enough grade, get it excited, and that gas numbs Jedi. Knocks the visions and the precog and the general-purpose sensitivity right out'v'em. Which they need to block blasters. And the kid shot the death sticks."

"I'm telling you Mak, this guy is wild. Stole not only a feth-ton of aurodium ingots but crates full of raw nova crystals."

Harlon peered down from him. The half-Galan was fighting his way out of a sandtrap on the ninth hole. With a small noise of annoyance he squatted down near the ball and looked up, as if trying to calculate distance and angle. An eybrow raised at the notion of nova crystals - crates full.

"Nova crystals? You know what those do?"

"Hey, I'm just a finance guy, you're the rock guy."

"Funny. Nova crystals...hold on..."

Standing back up, Makai moved to toss his club up onto the grass. Although he had an advantage this time ; his daughter was old enough to pick out a fresh club if he described it well enough. There was some back and forth of 'this one Papa?' before she finally got the gap wedge and he slid back down to his fate.

"You should invest in a caddy."

"I did. A very demanding but also adorable one. Reminds me of her mother...Anyway, the crystals. Raw nova crystals are extremely explosive. As in, one can easily blow up a speeder. I'm not talking about a large one either...so imagine a crate full."

Makai set himself up for the shot to get himself out of the sandtrap hell.

"Seriously? I guess that explains why this guy is facing terrorism charges. Guess he's a member of the Nebula Front. Wants to take out corpos."

"How do you even know this? Sounds like the guy was wanting to take down McYoda's, not the financial system."

"Guy robbed the vault company my buddy does the books for. Told me all about it. Guess their accounting is a mess, no one realized this guy had taken the loot until they reviewed the security holos."
