Don't Panic
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Niysha is a woman of relatively slight build. Her skin is a mild brown, and her hair is much darker. She'd look perfectly human if not for the disturbingly empty eye sockets in her skull. She keeps them covered with a proper blindfold to keep from distressing normal species. On average, Niysha wears either dark but simple civilian clothes or hiking gear, depending on how much civilization she's planning on seeing. She doesn't normally keep her lightsaber visible when in non-Sith company, because paranoia is the companion of self-preservation.
Niysha traditionally buries her presence to a careful degree, hiding her power, training, and alignment, but not her sensitivity. To most Force-users, she's no more interesting than any other Miraluka.
INVENTORY
- Lightsaber: Niysha's very conventional single-bladed lightsaber is made of whatever junk materials she found to replace the last one she lost. Its red blade is one of the very few indicators that she's Sith.
- Blaster: The PbBP-01 is a very generic pistol with one of its only distinguishing traits being that it's quite loud. Niysha doesn't care much for blasters, but she spends a lot of her time pretending not to be a Force-user, so a blaster that makes itself known is a benefit all its own.
- Datapad: By far the most important piece of gear Niysha carries with her. The Everyscreen datapad has settings for both tactile and thermal interfaces, making it useful for other Miraluka, as well as the electrical setting that Niysha prefers. It holds a shocking amount of information on her finds and research.
- The Sojourner: While she's a passable pilot, just about the only thing Niysha gets from her cabin-variant Sojourner executive shuttle is personal mobility. It is in no way special, interesting, or exceptional, though it has been modified with a very impressive sensor package. Niysha doesn't name her equipment, so it only shows up on official documentation by its transponder code.
PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
In stark contrast to many Sith at her age and general power, Niysha is a quiet, contemplative, and very cautious woman. She avoids excesses wherever she can, in life but especially in displays of power. Her voice is soft, and she takes time to ensure she rarely misspeaks. "Modesty" isn't a frequently-cited Sith trait. Adekos might well be proud of the shameless coward she's become.
While it's rare to encounter her at all, it's not difficult to determine Niysha's basic qualities at a glance. She's clever, insatiably curious, and overtly cautious. She avoids conflict whenever possible; when unable to retreat, she engages with her own personal, physical safety in mind. When in a position of comfort - personal safety ensured and advantages in her favor - she acts like one would expect, alternatively eager or relaxed depending on her mood at the time and her excitement for what she might acquire.
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
- + Force Sight
-
Aura Vision: All Miraluka have native Force Sight, but Niysha's is particularly keen. She's easily able to distinguish not only people's Force alignment, but often key aspects of their lives and sometimes even their emotional state. Droids and datapads are as crisp and visible to her as trees and dewbacks. Obviously she would've been a wonderful catch for the Luka Sene, but the Force clearly had other plans.
What to Expect: Niysha has an extremely accurate understanding of her surroundings at all times, unhindered by poor visibility, bad lighting, and even most walls. Anything within about 50 meters falls well within her "comfortable range," as clear to her as a sunny day would be to most people. While a masked aura or dampened presence might give her some difficulty, most people's souls are open to her like a book. This exceptional awareness also means that she doesn't have a lot to fear from blasters. - + Well-Rounded
-
Jack of All Trades: A combination of Sith academy training, private tutelage under two different Sith Lords, and years of rustpunk spacer life has given Niysha a wide variety of skills. Well-versed in everything from archaeology to starship repair to rock-climbing to marksmanship, there aren't many situations where Niysha doesn't know enough to contribute in some way.
What to Expect: Were she a Jedi, Niysha would be considered a classical Sentinel. As a learned pilot, mechanic, investigator, and many other things, she's rarely at a loss or uncomfortable with what she needs to do to get out of any given situation. It's very hard to get Niysha into a situation where she's completely out of her depth (logistically, not emotionally. See below, re: cowardice). - ~ Mid-Tier Fighter
-
Weak, But Skilled: While she's far too invested in developing a robust skillset to focus too intently on lightsaber or Force training, Niysha is still quite capable. As a duelist she's a terrifying opponent for the average thug or mercenary, but her casual Niman won't stand up well against other trained duelists. As a Force-user her skill and precision opens up more than a few options, but she has serious difficulty bringing to bear the raw power that other Sith throw around like candy.
What to Expect: Niysha's the very picture of a Clone Wars Forcie. She can jump and run like you'd expect, lift and throw decently-sized objects, and she's pretty good with a lightsaber. She won't be pulling out anything to the scale or stamina of a video game protagonist, though, and against other trained lightsaber duelists she's probably out of her depth. - - Coward
-
Cowardly Lion: Emotions are an intense part of any Sith's power profile. The majority rely heavily on their rage and hate, but for Niysha, fear and greed are much more reliable. The natural end result of sharpening her fear as a shield is that she is absolutely every bit the coward her master was.
What to Expect: In situations where Niysha isn't threatened she works with an easy, skilled confidence. The moment her life is in actual, measurable danger, Niysha's first plan is to avoid the threat entirely. She will run away at just about any cost when things take a turn for the worst. Potentially worse: while it's been long years since she was a frightened girl at the Kaas City academy and she's now quite capable of standing to protect what she believes in, it's such a departure from who she is that she's hardly operating at her best. - - Force Sight
-
Invisible Monsters: The natural consequence of being literally blind and seeing exclusively through the Force is that Niysha's perceptions are limited in ways both obvious and arcane. Clearly she can't see Force-dead entities, Yuuzhan Vong, or inside Ysalimir bubbles... but she also can't see colors, and in fact barely understands light as a concept.
What to Expect: Force-dead entities are functionally invisible to Niysha, and an Ysalimir bubble is a sphere of invisibility. She also has great difficulty with Epicanthix, since her vision is partially telepathic. More mundane things can pose a problem, too; a warning sign painted on a wall or an ominously dark hallway where there should be light are both completely beyond the pale for her.
HISTORY
The Sith have had a complicated history in the galaxy. As nations rise and fall, monoliths carve and crumble, living detritus slips through the many, many cracks and gathers into piles of so much wasted potential. No tragedy is unique, unparalleled, or even surprising. Every orphan and casualty is simply one more statistic in the ever-thrumming machine of Time and Empire.
Some time and almost a half-dozen Sith Empires ago, there was a young Miraluka girl taken in as a potential apprentice. She amounted to little and less, and didn't show as much promise as most other students at the time, but her talent for keeping her head down and avoiding notice caught the eye of one Darth Adekos. Her apprenticeship was brief and tragic, as are many things in the galaxy, but Adekos helped her hone her most important skill - the ability to simply vanish.
History never learned the name of Niysha, scion of Darth Adekos, though it at one point briefly knew the name of Niysha, scion of Darth Ignus. She appeared briefly as a minor character in a conflict between one incarnation of the Silver Jedi Order and one incarnation of the Sith Order, in conflict with Gir Quee and alongside a very young, very unimportant version of Tai Fen. Her relevance was short-lived, as the Orders around her - both - once again faded into the voracious darkness of time.
That obscurity has been Niysha's home for years upon years. With no Masters, no Lords, and no Orders, one more nameless, faceless Sithling without a cause managed to slip the leash and live as best she could in the freedom of total irrelevance.
By sheer happenstance, in a nowhere spaceport in a nowhere section of space, Niysha happened to encounter
