Kay nodded as they walked quickly down the corridor. The tone in Veiere's voice, combined with the look in his eyes as well as his hold of her hand told her volumes. He was worried. Not so much for his ship, although she knew that it held a special place for him, but for her safety. This wasn't some bid for him to try to get her and Terrac to be alone in a room together and be forced to talk. This was real.

He pulled her into a kiss then and she wrapped her arms tightly around him, holding him close for as long as she could. There was a chance that she would never be held by him again, so she wasn't going to let the opportunity pass her by. As Veiere let her go, his eyes spoke more than his words did. He didn't want her to follow him, no matter what....No matter what. Kay nodded, letting him know that she understood. "You too, dear. I love you..." Of course he already knew that. They didn't get this far in their relationship with any absence of love. But she wanted him to hear her say it.

She watched him disappear from view before heading into the cockpit. Terrac was still cursing and firing at open space. Kay hurried to the co-pilot's chair. The moment that the old man saw her, he ceased his foul language at once, something of which she was pleased about. But still, given their situation, she didn't blame him for it either.

"I don't suppose that you've brought some whiskey with you?"

"No, sorry. I didn't get the chance." Kay placed her satchel on her lap and buckled herself in. They were adrift. "Any idea who's after us?"

"Not a clue. I thought you'd know. We got a ship out there that's willing to take us in should the Kingsguard get any more damage. Where's Veiere? Off playing hero?"

Kay nodded, her eyes never straying from the viewport. "Yeah....He is...."

Objective: Doctor’s Orders – Let the games begin
Company: Suga’, Gar’Jub and Bub’Jub (on ship)
Allies: Ministers of Ungentlemanly Business
Enemies: [member="Lady Kay"], [member="Veiere Arenais"], (AKA Queer-air…), the CSA and its allies

Boy, oh boy, did they have a surprise for the Jedi King, if he ever showed, that was. Mad Jack still had too much faith in the goody-goody nature of Veiere Arenais to give up hope in his eventual arrival. Too much research conducted on the man’s exploits over months previous, said he wouldn’t be able to resist. Mad Jack always did his homework.

He was taking his sweet time, though. That was alright. Maybe he hadn’t taken the threat seriously before. Or maybe, he’d taken it too seriously and too cautiously. Either way, the Nautolan was sure his announcement and the subsequent bombardment by his Med-Droid piloted light cruiser against the crippled Kingsguard would make the threat very tangible, but most importantly, urgent.

Opening himself further to the force, he sensed the Master Jedi as he moved through the ship. Good. He was finally coming and it wouldn’t take him long. The Dark Jedi wasn’t hiding his force signature in the least. A youngling could find him with little trouble.

“Grab her,” he ordered Suga’ and kicked at the Zabrak’s shoulder, forcing her to uncurl on the floor. “the Jedi will be here soon.”

Suga’ grumbled a little, not wanting to move from her comfy spot, and rose from the bed to force the hostage to her feet. She would’ve fussed more, never exactly happy to take orders from anyone, if not for the news of Veiere’s impending arrival.

After all, this was what they’d come for. Why they’d spent hours in a small crate, infiltrated the Kingsguard, unplugged the ship’s power system, shot a pair of armoured and armed teddy bears onto the ship carrying chemical reagents they didn’t know how to use, turned off the long-range communications, broken an innocent woman’s jaw, and opened fire on the very ship in which they stood.

It all came down to this. Suga’ didn’t know what the end-game was, Mad Jack said it was a surprise, but she knew it was going to be good. It had to be good.

As the doors slid open, Veiere would see a 6’5’’ Nautolan with two lightsabers hooked to his belt and a rather pleased and amused expression etched onto his cold amphibian features. Beside him stood a Twi’lek woman packing at least three blasters and who knew what else, holding a Zabrak woman still with the threat of a vibroblade to the jugular. With wet cheeks and the kind of eyes that said, it’s been one of those days, the Zabrak brightened as soon as she saw that her King had come to her rescue.

“Oh no!” Yelled Mad Jack as if startled by the presence of the King. “The hero has come! We are surely doomed. The game is up, Suga’, the game is up. We can’t possibly hope to get away, now!”

The large Dark Jedi pressed the back of his hand to his forehead feigning as if he would pass out and collapsed to his knees. Two lightsabers would fall hopelessly at the King’s feet. He looked up at Veiere, arms outstretched, ready to be cuffed, “Take us big boy, we surrender to your superior skill and only beg your mercy.”

“What the karking hell!--” Suga’ shrieked with outrage. This was not what she’d had in mind.

For the moments that passed them by, Veiere found the seconds spanning for what felt like minutes as he stared back at [member="Mad Jack Son'ov'a"] with a rather confused and skeptical expression. Before him upon the floor now where the Culprits lightsabers for which he had relinquished, though that did not distract from the female Zabrak further behind him with a knife to one of their crewman's throats. Priorities dictated intervention in the safe release of their hostage before any further conversation would be shared between the three of them.

His left hand rose and fingers out-stretched in the direction of the female assailant, the force building around the Jedi Master's arm in aura as he sought to invoke a telekinetic grasp upon the wrist that held the vibro-knife in check against the innocent womens jugular. He would not injure their foes, would not even force her to take a step in either direction but rather spoke to their hostage in a calm and rather unemotional tone; "Make yourself scarce if you would be so kind".

Naturally if these attackers of theirs wished to do any real damage they would not have boarded the KingsGuard with the intention of dying there upon it; the vessel circling them via some sort of cloaking field seemed plenty capable of tearing them apart and yet there were obviously underlying motivations here.

Were their hostage allowed to leave without this Mad Jack's intercepting her on the way out of the area, Veiere would then relinquish his hold upon the mans partner in crime and instead move to retrieve the two lightsabers of which he had dropped. His brows furrowing ever so slightly as he questioned the potential sabotage of such weapons, yet too the consequences that might come of not securing them on his person.

"To what do we owe this visit..." He would ask, his gaze returning to the Nautolan, his voice carrying a somewhat dryer tone now that they had the space to themselves; "You might have saved yourselves the trouble and simply made an appointment".

Xaedrin's smile turned to a look of concentration as the light cruiser maneuvered around the Kingsguard, showing its profile to the Luck. Chasing away a light cruiser with a stock freighter wasn't exactly his idea of fun; in fact, he wasn't even sure if he could accomplish the task. With a curse, Xaedrin brought sublights online and moved above the ship's ecliptic to target its sensor array. While the Beginner's Luck had no torpedo or missile launchers, it did have ample laser cannons for defense. Xaedrin positioned the ship where nearly all of the cannons were focused in on the cruiser's array and then opened fire, pouring unrelenting energy into the ship's delicate equipment.

He hoped to surprise the larger ship. If he could knock out the ship's sensors then targeting the Kingsguard - or himself for that matter - would become extremely difficult. Especially if the ship was undercrewed.

"Kinsguard, Luck," Xaedrin transmitted. "Doing what I can, but I'm not sure it's going to be enough ... "

Darben Skirae sat at the meeting table, Mute by his side as he began to discuss with whom Farquar had gotten to meet with Darben. Skirae turned when he heard that someone else was coming into the meeting room. He saw [member="Bradshaw Ku"] and @Silfe Souri arrive into the room. Bradshaw he knew, Silfe he had only seen before.

"Ah, the other CSA officials!" The Farquar official shouted over to them. "Bradshaw! Good to see you...and Silfe, was it?" Darben asked, at first unsure. "I was just discussing trade negotiations, considering Commenori brandy. Will [member="Lady Kay"] and [member="Veiere Arenais"] be making it here as well?" He had not heard anything from Kay and Veiere yet. The Farquar official signaled to two spare seats for Silfe and Brad, across from Darben and Mute. "So far, they have agreed to most of the trade agreements. The usual things."

Both Kay and Terrac watched as Beginner's Luck moved into position, opening fire upon the attacking ship. At least their friend appeared to be helping them out. Still, it was hard to say what was going on and who was after Veiere.

~Copy that, Luck. Anything is better than us just sitting here. Are there any insignias on that ship?~ If need be, they'd have to hail them. But of course Terrac would leave that for Kay to do. As he sat there, he hardly ever looked at her, only through the corner of his eye. Plus he was distracted with trying to not get them all killed.

"They tried to gas us, Terrac. They could be bounty hunters. But I don't know if Veiere even has a bounty on him..." Kay's brows furrowed. Had she ever heard of him having a bounty on his head? Not that she could recall. But that didn't mean that there wasn't one. Clearly though, they were after him. She placed a protective arm over her satchel. Maybe it was the holocron that they were after. But no doubt he had made it in secret, so no one else could have known....

She glanced over her shoulder to see if Veiere was coming yet. Hopefully he was alright and could diffuse the situation.

Neil, the Nihilistic Med-Droid would’ve looked shocked as the stock freighter approached his larger vessel and then opened fire against the light cruiser’s sensor array had it not been for three crucial factors: 1.) His metallic faceplate did not allow for changes in expression, instead, he was destined to have resting droid face as the only appearance in his bag of expressive tricks for the entirety of his senseless existence, and frankly, that suited him fine, because 2.) he didn’t see a whole lot of point in worrying about what happened to him or anyone else, so he wouldn’t have chosen to change his face even if he could, and 3.) he was expecting the manoeuvre.

The Luck’s bold assault was super effective against the severely undermanned light cruiser. Even having expected some sort of attack, Neil didn’t have time, or maybe he just didn’t bother, to reinforce the shields around the sensor array. Meaning, though the freighter was heavily outgunned, the focused attack punched a whole through the shields just big enough for following bolts to fry most of the sensitive equipment. Leaving the cruiser and subsequently Neil, nearly blind in space except for good old-fashioned visuals and a few peripheral systems.

This was about that kind of time one should try to escape, the droid considered casually. It was more a helpful observation than any kind of anxiety filled thought. Assuming that escaping to keep the light cruiser around for another day was, indeed, what Mad Jack would want him to do, one of his metallic hands revved the cruiser’s extensive sub-light engines as he brought the light cruiser barrelling toward and just over top of the freighter. He couldn’t use the turbo lasers, or at least, he couldn’t and hope to actually hit anything, not with most of the sensors down.

So, as he passed over the freighter, his other metallic hand did the only thing left to do, it pressed a couple red buttons on the console releasing five spaceship grade concussion missiles from their holding bays on the underside of the light cruiser before he sped away and disappeared into the inky blackness of space.

The missiles being equipped with their own undamaged navigation equipment combined with the short distance to their target, all but garunteed direct hits.

Rustling of little armoured hands and feet softly emanated from the room previously vacated by the King and Queen, as Gar’Jub and Bub’Jub groggily awoke from their savage beating at the hands of the royal couple. The fumes spilling out from beneath the blanket covering the broken vials nearly reaching them. Another minute and they might’ve been asleep longer than a fairy tale princess. As it so happened, they weren’t.

Bub‘Jub scooped the blanket up with cute hands and cradled it in a ball in his arms, making sure to catch as much of the broken vials and reagents as possible. He signalled to his brother and they both scurried quickly out of the room, Bub’Jub holding his breath as he ran with the sleeping gas and his brother running ahead to stay up wind. They weren’t as stupid as they sometimes appeared.

In moments, they were running up the stairs just outside the bridge at which point, Gar’Jub squeeked out an, “Ee chee yub nub!”

Bub’Jub tossed the blanket into the cockpit while holding onto two corners so that the contents would spray, uncovered, into the room. Gar’Jub crouched around the door and aimlessly fired a salvo toward the occupants.

Nobody told the teddy bears play time was over.

Mad Jack let the Zabrak hostage go without incident. She’d served her purpose. He watched with a sinister smirk as the King picked his proffered lightsabers from the floor and tucked them away for safekeeping. Smart man, he mused, even taking into account the possibility of the items being booby-trapped, they still posed too great a threat as opposing weapons not to take the chance to secure them.

“Appointments are such a hassle though, don’t you think? They’re always during the workday when you have more important jobs to do. Then there’s the waiting room, everyone steals the best holo-mags, if you're lucky, leaving you with an issue of Natural Geographic almost as old as the galaxy, or the business section of the New Yinchorr Times, or worse, People Magazine. Does anyone really want to read about, people?! Besides, our employer wanted us to cause you a little trouble. How'd we do?”

Mad Jack was taking this whole surrendering thing calmly and quietly. His Twi’lek accomplice, on the other hand, was not. Snapping out of her momentary shock over the sudden turn of events and after powerlessly watching her hostage slip away, her hand not holding the vibroblade griped one of the double-barrelled blasters holstered at her hip. Deftly, she spun the blaster and holster, blaster still inside, to point at the King and fired. Not only was the holster designed to pivot in such a way, it also had two appropriately sized holes at the bottom clearing the way for a clean shot.

There were two types of outlaws. You had your Quick Draw McGraws, and then, there was No Draw McSuga’.

A couple of the concussion missiles' shock waves struck the Kingsguard, given their close range with Beginner's Luck. The vessel shook and lurched with every movement. Terrac swore out loud while Kay gripped onto the armrests of her chair, ever so glad to be buckled in. Warning bells and lights turned on, giving warning of the nearing potential of a breach in the outer hull. "If you've got any bright ideas, doll, now's the time!"

Kay looked to Terrac, his eyes on the viewport. It was the first time that he had called her 'doll' since she came back from her abduction. Maybe it was a slip of the tongue, but she hoped not.

That feeling was soon taken away as the sound of the ewok twins was heard. Kay turned in her chair to look, only to see the chemical being sprayed in their direction by one, while the other fired at them. She ducked in her chair and covered her mouth and nose with her sleeve. Her chair was struck, taking the blunt of the blast. Meanwhile Terrac turned in his chair and fired at the ewoks with his own blaster. "I said NOW'S the time!!"

Kay focused on the Force and used it not on the ewoks, but on the chemical covered blanket, wrapping up the twins with it with such quick force that she hoped they'd lose their balance and fall down the stairs. Her muffled voice was heard through her hand and sleeve. "Tell everyone to hang on and put us in a steep dive! Evasive maneuvers!" Her thoughts went quickly to Veiere, and through their connection and close proximity, she sent him a message; ~Hang onto something. Now!~

Terrac didn't do anything. He just looked at her as though she was crazy. "Aren't you forgetting....we're sitting ducks!" At that moment he fell back into his chair as the remaining gas took effect. Kay wasn't that far behind him.

I can't believe that worked, Xaedrin thought as he watched the sensor array of the light cruiser turned to molten slag. He smiled in triumph as he watched the cruiser maneuver for an exodus from the encounter. Leaning back, he brought his hands up and whooped, a celebratory sound that all but guaranteed that things would go poorly in the next instant. And the galaxy, as usual, obliged his cynicism with five concussion missiles.

His leaned back celebration quickly turned into a scramble as he furiously worked at the controls in front of him. He threw the small freighter into a dive, attempting to escape the onslaught of explosive projectiles. He managed to avoid two of them, but the proximity of the launch meant that there was no opportunity to avoid the others. He was fortunate, however, to avoid two of them, as five would have utterly destroyed the small freighter. As it was, the second struck the shields mere nanoseconds after the first. The one-two punch of munitions made his shields scram, leaving his hull as a virtual neon sign for the third, which obligingly came home for dinner.

Xaedrin was thrown from his pilot's chair (which he hadn't bothered to strap into, because, well, bravado) into the control panel, which was now sparking. Pain gripped him as his head struck the console with what seemed like the force of a wampa preparing tauntaun tartare.

The last thing he remembered as everything faded to black was the sensation of floating, as the artificial gravity generators failed.
