For those confused about 'Non-Euclidean Geometry' : r/Lovecraft

Ok, I know this one's a big, and I mean BIG stretch, but just hear me out yeah?
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To stretch the abilities of this small community to new heights
  • Image Credit: Credit to H.P. Lovecraft for the above image
  • Canon: N/A (obviously)
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: None
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Appothecrynians (plural)/ Appothecron (single)/ Living Labyrinths (slang)
  • Designation: Non-sentient (change negotiable/pending)
  • Origins: Extra-galactic
  • Average Lifespan: 17-20... eons.
  • Estimated Population: Semi-unique (seems fair that these wouldn't be too common) Exact Number in current galaxy- 14.
  • Description: Seemingly just a giant amalgamation of random, unmoving architecture from the outside, these living constructs seem all too harmless at a glance. But once someone is inside this beast, their chances of survival decrease significantly. Because within an Appothecron lies a seemingly endless amount of rooms that shift once left/entered. These rooms can span from giant corridors to a small treasury. Rooms tend to not move once a living being is within, but once life ceases to be, the room goes back to shifting. A few rooms hold extremely primitive traps, such as Punji pits and dart traps.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Any
  • Average Height: Anywhere from 220-10000 meters
  • Average Length: 500-800 meters
  • Skin color: N/A (no skin, otherwise it's grey, always grey)
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Distinctions: No one can say for sure how these horrid constructs were made, or if they are even capable of thought, but one thing is for certain, they live. Throughout the halls and rooms, if an individual lays quiet for just long enough, breathing can be heard. These constructs are either simulating life, or are indeed alive, but no matter how one looks at it, these living constructs can draw breath. What makes them different from most common species? Hmm, I can't quite put a finger on it... oh well....
  • Races: Just the one, construct
  • Force Sensitivity: Non-Sensitive

Strengths;
  • Thick stone structure, a good two meters worth... For every wall...
  • That's really about it...

Weaknesses;
  • At it's center, (wherever that would be...) there is a gigantic, somewhat fragile, Ultra-bright crystal. If shattered, the creature will give out a long, loud low-pitched wail, and then the construct will collapse. I hope you're happy, killing such a majestic giant.
  • fears the dark side, also fears any other type of force use for that matter...
  • That's... all there really is...
CULTURE
  • Diet: Omnivore, other; anything that is trapped inside will slowly be digested over the course of a decade. Once digested, the object in question will be part of the construct.
  • Communication: Communication seems impossible, as no two members of this species have been reported in the same system let alone planet. However, it is largely suspected that the low-pitched, guttural sound that occasionally can be heard is the constructs communicating from different planets.
  • Technology level: Primitive at best.
  • Religion/Beliefs: N/A /Unknown
  • General behavior; For the most part, these constructs just wander whatever planet they initially landed on and suck up whatever poor scraps of material fall into it's front gate.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION;
Long ago, from the far reaches of the outer rim, an almost-celestial object was discovered floating through space on a crash course for the planet Vengler. Initial scans found that this object had an energy signature, so perhaps it was some sort of ship? Alas, no response was pried from the rapidly approaching object, and so it was assumed to be just another asteroid coming out of orbit. The residents of Vengler reached out to any who were willing to aid in a mass evacuation, some for a price, others out of generosity. Once the object came into the planet's atmosphere, all who watched the assured destruction of this planet bowed their heads in sadness... but they were all confused and surprised when they looked up to see that their planet was still... a planet. People flooded back onto the planet, a little wary of what had happened, but still thankful that they still had a home, only to find that an odd structure had appeared just east of the Varno market. Those brave, or foolish, enough to explore this wonder were lost almost immediately within the ever-shifting rooms and corridors of this mighty construct, and so the fear and suspicion amassed around this strange construct that took so many curious lives. Many attempted to find their loved ones, only to be lost to the construct themselves. With so much fear set around this construct, few dared to even look at it. However as the years passed, people started to notice that the construct had inched it's way a whole two meters closer to the Market, fearful, and full of superstition, the people reached out to anyone who would at least attempt to deal with this thing. After numerous attempts at simply blowing up large portions of the construct had failed, people started to loose interest in the whole situation together. The people of Vengler became desperate, so when a Sith offered to deter the construct, the people were all too happy to accept the debt. The Sith stood a few meters from the construct, and began pushing whole large portions of the construct back by a good 20 meters. Clearly impress at the sheer force of this display, every person in the market stopped to look. The Sith pushed the construct father and farther, hour by hour. Satisfied, the people of Vengler cherished the Sith, and through a seven-day feast in his honor. Over the next three years, the object had been reported to have begun moving opposite the direction of the market. The people were ecstatic, and even began celebrating every so often. But this was not the only event taking place of note, over the past seven years, similar occurrences of near-celestial objects were reported to have landed on different planets. Each bore similar but slightly different descriptions, the one constant being that each of these 'entities' were an amalgamation of random architecture that spanned for several kilometres. Many began to study these occurrences to try to learn anything of these strange constructs, but when one was reported to have collapsed entirely with one sole survivor within the rubble, every researcher for parsecs came to interview. All that is shown here (this page entirely) is a culmination of what little information was gathered on the survivor's experience.
And with that, I leave this entry to be viewed freely, feel free to give feedback on this new kind of idea. And if you'd like to see this judged, there's a poll attached.
