New Plympto - A new beginning

She was headed off to meet with the government of new Plympto they wanted to discuss the representative they had chosen to work with the Coalition.

This was an unusual request most planets just sent their representative and they dealt with them. So what was different about this one? What had the government on so much edge they needed to talk to Faith.

Faith, the Head of the FWC she was a figurehead for two governments clashing the Coalition and Alderaan. Alderaan wanted to return to its peaceful ways some were insisting on withdrawing, others for continued movement forward. Had the government of New Plympto heard the same rumblings?

She would find out,

One could almost be forgiven for being unaware that New Plympto had, at one point in its long and troubled history, been rendered entirely uninhabitable. Prior to the plague, the Vong had used some sort of weapon on the planet, completely wiping out its inhabitants and ability to sustain life. This was, of course, later reversed by those same perpetrators as they worked to rebuild a galaxy that had been torn apart, in many cases literally, by centuries of warfare, and the planet was once again capable of life.

The capital city of Phemiss had been rebuilt in the centuries since by those who survived the plague that ravaged the galaxy not long after its restoration, and was home to a significant number of the planet's native Nosaurians, as well as immigrated humans, Zabraks, and a small enclave of Miraluka. A fair distance away from the city stood the Hajial Chase, regrown into something likely resembling its ancient state, a dense forest that housed an enclave of Wookiees and other creatures native to the planet that had been reintroduced after its restoration.

Of course, not all on New Plympto would be as it once was. Parts of the planet had been left barren still, and volcanic activity reigned in thankfully remote regions of the planet. It was in such a place that Errreembuhr had chosen to build his factory, the headquarters for the company which bore the nickname he'd been given by the men and women of his crew so many years ago. It was from here that he recruited workers from the city, as well as other parts of the planet, and from here that he strove to protect the people whose planet he now called home.

When he had selected the planet as his base of operations, and begun construction, it had still been within Droid Space, but now after a political agreement reached between the Metal Lords and the Alderaan Coalition, the planet had new overlords. And one thing he'd learned in his centuries of existence was that shifting leadership often resulted in fear and unrest, from those in power to the common folk on the streets.

As a wookiee it hadn't been too hard to secure the allegiance of their enclaves in the forests, despite his nature as a cyborg. And as a large scale employer of the native Nosaurians, offering fair pay and worker's rights to those who took up employment with EODD, he'd gained a strong following of support from them as well. That by no means made him a leader, however, simply a well-received businessman. That afforded him some insight into the unrest that now seemed to grow by the day within the capital.

It was this unrest that it seemed would bring a visit from the Queen of Alderaan herself, something he learned of in the city while personally seeing to a delivery of weapons to their defense forces. [member="Faith Organa"] would be here soon to speak with the government's leaders.

Once safely landed Faith departed her shuttle and headed to the Capital building for the planet. There she would meet with representatives and other concerned citizens, and business associates about what was happening.

She couldn't help but look out the window as they traveled it looked so calm. That was deceiving she knew it. She could almost feel the tension, the representative from the government had merely nodded at her. Not the warmest greeting she had ever received but not the coldest either at least he nodded.

She wanted to ask about the disturbances but the look on his face made her keep her tongue.

Rebuilding she knew what that was like. Long. hard. Sometimes frustrating. As she got lost in her thoughts the air speeder stopped and once again Faith was on the move. She smiled and nodded to those who acknowledged her presence.

So odd.

She walked into the conference room where directed and looked about. "Greetings from the Coalition, I'm Faith of Alderaan. I'm here to listen and learn." She moved closer hoping they would introduce themselves.

The Queen of Alderaan's presence was certainly as majestic as her title would presume, and Errreembuhr felt unsure of his own place in the room. After all, he was no politician, or leader, but it had been requested by the council of ruling Nosaurians. He had given what little he could to their people, including his word of further support going forward.

Xaro Blacktree, Ment Luckstrike, Nores Stonesinger, and Bora Leapfar were all present, members of the ruling council, and they along with several local folks of note introduced themselves to the Queen first, followed by Errreembuhr's turn.

"Queen [member="Faith Organa"]," he said through his translation module, bowing to her in the hopes that the custom was one which the royalty of Alderaan would accept. "My name is Errreembuhr, owner and CEO of EODD. My operations here on New Plympto began when the planet was still within sovereign Droid Space, and many of the locals are concerned with the change in leadership to the Coalition that they may not have the same protections they enjoyed from piracy, slavers and such. There have already been some raids by pirates."

Faith looked to each and heard their names recognizing them from reports that had come to her as she traveled. they had an excellent network to keep her up to date on things, she might have to soon register it to keep copyrights to it.

She nodded, "I can understand their concern. Its long been the tradition that whoever takes over comes in and changes everything. That is not how the Coalition works." She sighed and looked around. "Everyone please let's sit and let me explain who the Coalition and what we want to do."

She did not wait for them to sit she sat first in case they felt they needed to wait it saved time.

"The Coalition wants the governments in place to stay in place. You continue to move forward as you always have. We form a Coalition military if ever there is invasion, as well know invasion can happen. We need to protect ourselves, do you agree to this?"

One step at a time.

As everyone took their seats, they listened intently to the Queen's words, the majority nodding along in approval as she explained how the Coalition worked. What the role of New Plympto would be in case of attack anywhere else in their territory. It didn't seem all too unlike what Errreembuhr had known under the Metal Lords, in his short time with them before they fled their territory.

Sovereignty at a cost that was, from what he could see in the eyes of their leaders, more than affordable.

"And what will our role be in this Coalition?"

The question came from Nores, one of the sitting council members, and drew the eyes of most of those gathered.

"You say our government will stay in place, and move as it always has. I agree with the need to protect ourselves, but my question is whether our planet will have a voice. Someone to represent our interests."

Errreembuhr and the others looked on, waiting for a response from the Queen.

"Your role. We try to support all companies within the Coalition in order to further their influence and our economies. Your home would appoint a representative to sit in the Assembly hall to voice your opinions, and concerns. The Assembly is not a senate we do not really make laws. But we have found that agreeing on certain things makes things within the Coalition a lot easier."

She didn't want to confuse them she wanted to keep it simple.

"Like we've had some border crossing which have led raids. We agreed that we would have the Rangers patrol the entire length of Coalition space borders." She smiled now hoping that it would keep everyone at ease.

"do you agree with this?"

It was all about agreeing, expectations, and understanding. She wanted to be sure they were all on the same page.

The promise of regular patrols struck a nerve with many of the leaders, especially with the knowledge of the ongoing hostilities between the Galactic Alliance and the First Order, as well as the expanding Sith influence. Between deserters, renegades, and pirates taking advantage of the chaos, wars had a tendency to breed violence even hundreds of systems away from the battlefield.

"That is certainly something we can accept," Xaro said after a moment of discussion with his colleagues. "If you're open to it, we can give some of our security forces an option to join your Rangers? New Plympto doesn't have much in the way of manpower but it's only fair to help provide some security to our fellows in the Coalition."

"And my shipyards will be open to them for repairs and refueling," Errreembuhr added, looking on as some of the council nodded. "EODD can also provide fighters, support craft, and weapons at a reduced price for Coalition forces should you ever be in the market."

Faith nodded, "Of course anyone wanting to volunteer we do not conscript anyone to serve. It is free will we honor." She remembered a time when there was little freedom it was a brutal reminder to her of what the galaxy could do.

The offer of weapons, ships, this too was pleasing, "Much appreciated sir. I don't think I caught your name before" Had her hearing failed her or was she slipping because she had become too reliant upon Bekka to do things for her.

She sat quietly quite pleased with everything so far.

"Errreembuhr, your Majesty," he replied. "It's the least I can do. My company is not a large one, but we can give what we are able to when asked."

He waited for a response, understanding that it was important for one to know their place and not over-speak when royalty was involved.

She nodded and then tried to wrap her tongue around the name without slaughtering it terribly, "[member="Errreembuhr"] a pleasure to meet you. " She looked back to the others at the table, "You will need to select someone who can represent the interests of New Plympto at the Coalition Assembly."

Not that she needed a name right then but she wanted them to be aware of what was required. She looked again to the wookie. She smiled what was it about House Organa and Wookies.

Well...she'd think on that later. It was long ago in a time just like now that evil was slowly moving across the galaxy. But soon she feared it would go from a trickle to a storm. They would need to be ready. New Plympto would need to be ready

The council members looked to each other, discussing the situation briefly in hushed voices. The Nosaurians had once been a bitter people when it came to humans, given their history with Corellians and the old Republic nearly a thousand years ago. Errreembuhr found himself curious who it would be to represent them, as several prominent Nosaurians were present.

Thus, when Xaro suggested the wookiee, his eyes opened wide in shock.

"Me?" he asked, looking between the council and the Queen.

"Him?" asked Nores, far more of a traditionalist than her contemporaries. "He's not one of us. How can a Wookiee speak for New Plympto?"

"Errreembuhr has done much for our planet in these troubled times," Xaro replied, his gaze still on the Wookiee. "The wookiee enclaves our planet is home to respect him. He provides employment for many of our population both in his factory and in the capital."

"But he is not one of us."

"And yet I am in agreement to grant him this position," Ment Luckstrike added, much to Nores' chagrin. "That makes it two to one."

"Three to one." Bora Leapfar's voice settled the matter, as he was the most senior member of the council, quashing even Nores' dissent. "On a temporary basis, at least. We will see how he operates in this position, but for the time being, I can think of no better."

"Well then" Faith's brown eyes settled once again on the Wookie, "it would seem we will be working together." She smiled at those around her very pleased at how quickly they had been able to come to agreement, and their willingness to work.

"We should make a to do list for all the things that New Plympto would like to have the Coalition help them with. And we should make arrangements for a delegation to come to Alderaan and see the Assembly hall." She hoped this was agreeable.
