HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Fall of Sieger Ren's First Order, Rise of Resurgent First Order:
An old city made new again, New Laveau had been settled before the four hundred years of darkness. As evident by the architecture in what is now the Colonial Quarter in downtown New Laveau. The city itself was built on the natural levees on the banks of the Mulholland River, these levees would be aided by the First Order’s Corps of Imperial Engineers. FOCIE created additional levees and provided floodwalls, giving the First Order the ability to pump water away from the city over time. Not too far from the city is the Gulf of Hambrick which leads out into the Brevelle Ocean.

A series of canals run beneath the city with some of these canals leading to the pumps that control the flow of water throughout various parts of New Laveau. Hot and humid, New Laveau is a subtropical climate that often welcomes those wishing to escape frigid temperatures elsewhere. Making tourism one of the cities’ top industries. An industry that the First Order both old and new were and continue to be eager to help expand. In addition to tourism, energy, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing have quickly come to the forefront.

These industries have helped the city recover from the invasion of the Ssi-Ruuvi Imperium. An invasion that the Ssi-Ruuk did not win, and while they had expected to wipe the city as they had done with others. They found the Brevirostrii, or Gatorfolk as the First Imperials had come to call them. These large, hulking behemoths of creatures were a large part of why the Imperium could not gain a foothold on New Laveau let alone Mephout.

Secondary to them were the First Imperials themselves, smaller and more agile than the Brevirostrii they were forced to throw any prejudices they may have held. It would be these views that would not only result in a city able to regain its stability quicker. But, helped to reshape the First Order’s overall views on non-human species.

New Laveau prides itself on its diversity and unique history. From the food to the culture there is definitely something for everyone in the city. It stands ready to face whatever the galaxy has in store.

Following the events of Hamunaptra:

South of New Laveau, is an area known simply as ‘the Bayou.’ The Bayou was and is a large swath of swamp and marshland. It is currently under a series of domes, while the First Imperial Medical Services and the Armed Forces work to eradicate the Mephout strain of Blackwing. The Blackwing had been brought to the planet several years ago by a First Order vessel that had crashed in the region.

Subsequently, quarantine centers were erected but have since decayed by a combination of weather (hurricanes) and the invasion of the Ssi-Ruuvi Imperium. There is unfortunately not a known timeframe for when the Bayou will be able to be released from its current lockdown status. However; information from the area indicates that the Blackwing infection rates have gone down drastically.

Once the lockdown has been lifted, the First Order will begin assessing the ecological and environmental damage to the Bayou. At present, the First Order has begun to set up several military bases and additional quarantine checkpoints both in the city and around the domed Bayou. Working closely with Aurora Industries, and NoxaCorp, the First Order is etching closer and closer to creating a more suitable vaccine for the Mephout-strain of the Blackwing Virus.

Collapse of failed-state Resurgent First Order and Rise of the Commonwealth:

By the end of the 860s, the First Order, had faltered. However, Mephout and its capital city of New Laveau pressed forward, focusing on expanding their tourism industry and constructing stadiums and arenas for various sports. As the Eternal Empire encroached closer toward Dosuun, and consequently Mephout, planetary leaders began exploring alliances with neighboring systems, including Dosuun. By the late 870s, discussions about the formation of the Commonwealth gained momentum, and in 882 ABY, the vision became a reality. New Laveau retained its status as the planetary capital, utilizing much of the former First Imperial District as its planetary administrative center. Over time, the city also became the location for several national financial offices established by the Commonwealth.
