New Haven [SJO Dominion of Durkteel AC, 35]

TC16MjH.png
Grandmaster Kitra stood in the middle of a rather large meadow.

It wasn’t the ideal – but it would do just fine for today. And the scenery couldn’t get much better than this, if she was being honest. The quaint rural town of New Haven sat just in the distance, the country-side aesthetic was charming to say the least. Fortunately, the weather was cooperating today -- the sky above was blue and only speckled with clouds. As medical clinic was still very much under construction, the healers of the Silver Circle had been forced to improvise. A large medical tent had been placed in a field, the stretched fabric bearing a red cross and the emblem of the Silver Jedi. There were many in need here, and they would waste no time in providing them with treatment.

Durkteel had seen an influx of refugees as the Silver Jedi continued to work with revived Refugee Relief Movement. This was just one of the worlds that had generously agreed to join the Refugee Resettlement Coalition to provide new homes for those displaced by the war. It was no small undertaking, and the Silver Services Corps was here to help. In addition to the medical work the Silver Circle would be doing, there would be volunteers from across the Order to help with construction efforts all around the town of New Haven. Any one that could swing a hammer or help transport materials had been called to assist with constructing new residences and professional buildings.

There would also be a job fair at the local convention center to help showcase businesses that operate with the SJO. But more importantly, this effort would help provide the newcomers with much needed employment. It truly was a nice way to ensure that the newest residents here would get off to a good start.

Knowing that the Silver Jedi would be part of these efforts made Valae very proud.

“Please report to the white tent if you’re looking for healing instruction or medical field work,” Valae spoke into her comm and waited for her team to assemble.

Objectives:
1. Habitat for Humanity (Social/Volunteer): Help transport and settle in incoming refugees into the town of New Haven. If you’re so inclined, help them with constructing homes and professional buildings (school, medical center, ect)

2. Fieldwork (Jedi Healers/Medics/Physicians): The Silver Circle has established a large free clinic within New Haven to help treat incoming refugees, many of whom haven't received proper medical care since fleeing their respective worlds. Grandmaster Kitra will be instructing up and coming healers and physicians within the Silver Order/Antarian Rangers.

3. Job Fair (Business): A job fair is held at a convention center at New Haven, designed to get newcomers employed with jobs to get them back on their feet. LS and Neutral companies may participate, offering job opportunities to win a contract or sponsorship from the SJO.

4. BYOO

"Master Cathbodua." The voice was there as they were arriving and she looked up. The room was darker then anything and she was wihtout her mask as pale flesh gleamed with the barest hint of light, short hair that was against her head. Eyes flicking back over towards the door when the nurse was standing there with a look on her face as she rolled over off of the bed. Her hand sliding to the face mask as she slid it on and looked over with the lens fixing so she would be able to see with the corrective lenses. Interest in what they were doing as the Triage medical ship approached brought the jedi master ahead to see a whole lot more of it.

"Make sure everything is ready for when we arrive on the planet. We have the medical tents deployed, I want food, supplies and staff before we even have the first person who is curious." She got nods of understanding and could see it as they were loading up. Practical applications of the work they did, medical biot staff, doctors, healers and medics in the field able to be sent out quickly who didn't tire and only needed to have their enzyme bars. The hardlight medical tents with equipment like their different casket suites for medical operations, bacta synthesizer to refill the suits and supplies. They had more then eough bringing it down towards the planet and making landings.

Objective: Charity meet
Location: Trandosha -> Lund Gourley

Now that Varindar had her lightsaber, she returned on Trandosha to check on the hotel, and there was nothing notable that happened to the hotel; the construction of the third floor was not yet completed. But then came an invitation to another meet in a short-course pool. She was about ready to accept the invitation of the Saurin on Durkteel, also issued to Elianne. These Saurin organizers invited four Trandosha residents to participate in this charity meet, whose aim was to help fund the and where all the profits would go towards the Refugee Relief Movement. As is the case on Trandosha, swimming was perceived as an exotic sport on Durkteel, probably for very similar reasons to the Trandoshans proper, although Saurin culture didn't seem to be as rough as Trandoshan culture. It seems that, in this region, swimming has rapidly gained a reputation for being a money laundromat, so I might have inadvertantly hurt the sport, or at least the Ta'jar Blood Gang has. I suspect these Saurin are using swimming as a means to launder money, and I know from experience that the best veneers for moneylaundering usually involve incidental legitimate revenue, she thought, while meeting up with Elianne once again, this time in Forak's spaceport, where they took the very Neimoidian Yacht Varindar took to get to Ruusan, with the other three passengers. And the mail and cargo bound for Durkteel, about 400 tons of that.

"How do you feel, Elianne? On Ceraluen we both proved we could swim in long-course pools"

"I feel great: the first race of the first day is going to be the 4x100 mixed medley relay, and it's going to be a timed-final event because there is only one heat. Individual events are going to be pyramidal"

"I feel that the sport has somehow acquired a reputation for... laundering money"

"Laundering money? Are you serious?" one of Elianne's teammates on the school team asked, surprised.

"We are going to be on the same mixed relay team. Elianne was able to beat us in the breast, fly and even back, and I heard that you were really good in free"

"So Elianne will be doing fly, I will anchor the mixed relay, doing free and you two will divide the remaining two legs as you see fit. Fasten your seatbelts and place your seats in an upright position, we're taking off"

Varindar was, once again, in the cockpit. Yes, she recognized these two from her time as Ta'jar property but never swam in the same races as they did, but which events they will race in is pretty much determined by the organizers, ten events total for each of them: both ladies are entered in the 200m medley, as well as the 100m and 200m for each stroke. So, in fact, no individual race over 200m would be swum there. That was one exhausting schedule of events for each of those swimmers, but the men in the team were entered in their stroke-specific events only, probably because the Saurin cousins didn't think as highly of the men than they did Varindar or Elianne. Once again, I feel both Elianne and I will attract a lot of attention both in and out of the pool, thanks to our bodies; we might have been stars in the Trandoshan pool, because there is no such thing as a galactic circuit in that sport, we have to make names for ourselves on every new planet we swim meets on, she thought, while she punched the hyperdrive to get the yacht to Durkteel, once the yacht broke orbit.

Objective: Job fair

The Gungan saw on Durkteel an opportunity to expand Pizza Hutt's manufacturing facilities: especially with the concept of the Pizza Hutt steakhouse taking off, he would need several things from the Saurins and the refugees settled there: farmland, space to build a food processing plant, and also restaurant franchisees. And also staff to run all of these operations, but this planet was not suitable for cocoa farming; the chocolate would have to be ferried all the way from Skor. Here it would no longer be enough to get Squibs to accompany him on this business, since their chocolate expertise is insufficient to get the Gungan's bases covered, but also a Togruta associate that knew the realities of meat preparation and butchery. As these people began to sort through the résumés of the refugees, it appeared the Saurin were dominating the applicant pools for the slaughterhouse positions, while refugees were instead applying there for other positions, to prepare frozen meals among other purposes. Oh and he knew better than virtually everyone else among the delegation about the realities of frozen fish, for which the first applicant was being interviewed:

"Yousa hair for which position?"

"Frozen fish preparer"

Krass was looking at the construction efforts going on. With everything that was being offered here she had brought in for the pre-fab structures. Additonal walls and materials. They were setting everyrthing up and what they cleared they took to the joshus...the converters were breaking down everything cleared to make more and more space for the engineers who were working on things. Krass was looking at it and giving information to some of the people they were helping. "What do we have." The small woman looked up at some of the Ranger's, Willa had trained many of them and they gleamed in the heavier armor. Looking like iron men but silver. "We have dozens of people looking for food, supplies and work." SHe had an idea for it, there was a job fair and they could offer more then enough while walking over ther. The structures took less time to set up but why not let the people help themselves and their friends.. their people. "Offer them credits or kindness to come here and help set up their homes. We can use the extra hands and there is more then enough food for supplies. We can get the mynock transports here running down food." And she could have the resource stations that would have been brought send down runabouts with additonal supplies. Running it in her head a large station that produced the food could feed these people for months while growing more and working to get the food they can grow and do in their own living modules.

The prospect of learning the art of healing came to Tana as unnecessary, the natural regeneration and ability to give other people his energy via biting to make wounds vanish was sufficient enough, but he could not rely on it all the time. Sooner or later when low on energy or just to heavily wounded such a healing ability would fail, leaving the boy with no way of recovering, and due to being a Silver Shadow, often on solo mission such a threat was very possible.

As such Tana had headed Grand Master [member="Valae Kitra"] message slowly making his way towards the woman's tent, working through the large crowds of refugees flooding in, some already heading in the same direction seeking medical aid. Coming to the ten door the young Jedi lightly tapped the a nearby support pole, indicating to the Jedi Master that he had arrived, "good day to you Master Kitra, I was informed about possible lessons on the healing arts". With the constant influx of war disposed people some sick other injured the Jedi would need all the healers they could get, regardless of their actual position within the order.

The scrolls of Taiden Keth
Entry #264 Healing the hands of a thousand.

After the altercations at Keth’s tomb. Taiden had faced his demons. Trying to stop the next generation of horrors from unfolding on a weary galaxy. He had failed. But he had also lived and returned from his pilgrimage. Finally he could be called a Jedi Knight, a very long time as a padawan had been days well spent. The Masters had told him as he returned. It was not about success, or victory but offering what help he could to those he could. It was not even about becoming something he was not, but realising his limitations and how to live with them. How to live with himself, he'd taken those words to heart.

Gentle touch. Healing. These things he could offer, being part of him. Food to an outstretched hand or kind word to someone with no hope. He had started to learn the arts of healing as a padawan. The language of healing and how it applied to a wider community was now to be his next lesson. Beside [member="Cathbodua"] he stood, whitest white temple robes and silvers across him. Loading and moving what needed to be prepared for the refugees below.

“Will they be requiring access to our food supplies Master Cathbodua, or do they have their own to hand?” Silver eyes reading the manifests for a better of idea of what was required, ticking off items as they prepared.

She looked at the man standing next to her and the other healers who were moving out. "We have plenty of food, the medical supplies and food won't run out quickly here and with the mynocks we have a large amount of transportation capabilities. THey can bring in new supplies within hours from resources stations easily enough." She was practical and walking through it while she stood there knew she might get some looks wearing the bodyarmored suit. Her life preservation suit keeping her from bursting into flames.. no just being blistered and in pain until the jedi master was motioning some fo the healers to different locations.

"Begin." THey had set down and taken out the hardlight projectors as they activated becoming tents and medical supply areas so that they would be able to see the patients and provide some privacy to the people. She was standing there with a nod of her head to better see some of the parts. Taiden was learning a useful skill and she focused holding up a medical kit. "Your lessons in force healing though wil begin here, make sure your hands are properly cleaned and sterile so that you do not infect the patients or risk getting them sick." She was washing an dusing an untrasonic scrubber with a small look at her gloved hands.

"I've arranged for our booth to be between the engineering section and administrative, also we're very close to the bathrooms." Petrovsky stated, "and here is your schedule."

Fiolette took the tablet and skimmed it, then she handed it back to her assistant. "Right listen, I don't wanna be here anymore than I have to so, you, Ao and Tala can handle the hiring aspects. Kit, Rae, Shed and I will be off looking for office space and the rest of you, play nice with the locals and don't piss off the Silvers." There were enough nods that she felt good enough to let them off their leashes, "oh and Raol here, take this and get whatever Dansen needs."

"Got it boss," Raol said with a nod and wink.

The Galidraani took in a breath and exhaled she pushed herself to not reprimand him right then and there. The convention center was filling up and she had no doubt they would find candidates but she wanted to do a little more here. "Right then off we go," she waved to her team, while Ao glared she didn't want to be left with Petrovsky but she was probably the only one who could really tolerate him and his, cheerful nature. Fiolette and her team departed the convention center and headed out into New Haven proper.

Krass continued to work with them, where they were getting the buildings set up and offering the ones from the job fair who wanted to help construct the buildings. The small engineer went off to the one area to over look parts of it and was bringing up a hardlight projection of the idea they were going for with the area. To really beef up the construction efforts and train the ones as skilled laborers who could ply this trade to their world. "You are all doing well, now lets keep it up and remember there is pelnty of materials and food so take your time and make sure it is done correctly." Meanwhile she could work on her own little project off to the side. Something small and using the lifeblood force enhanced.

Objective 2- Medical
New Haven
w/ [member="Cathbodua"] [member="Tanaski Yumi"] [member="Taiden Keth"] [member="Valae Kitra"]

As soon as the Silver Circle's medical transport landed in New Haven, Samara went to the cargo hold and saw to the unloading of the medical supplies brought to aid the refugees that had taken shelter on the planet of Durkteel; an agriworld in the Mid Rim along the Durkteel Loop near Kashyyyk. It was home to the Saurin, a subspecies of Trandoshan that had humanlike hands instead of razor-sharp claws. Supposedly the hosts were little more agreeable than their bipedal reptilian cousins, which for all their sakes hopefully was the case.

The war torn galaxy had made for many to seek safety on foreign soil. Most had nothing but the clothing on their backs and just the personal belongings one could carry. Families had been uprooted as well as loved ones left behind; many dead. The refugees suffered not only from physical wounds, but mental as well. Giving them food, shelter and medical attention was the least that the Silver Jedi and friends could do for them. They also needed a purpose to go on, to rebuild their lives. This is why Samara wanted to be a part of the Refugee Relief Movement. It was the essence of what being a Jedi was all about in the padawan's eyes ~ Helping those who cannot for themselves... until they can.

"Masters," the apprentice healer greeted with a respectful bow to the two Jedi Masters and Knight present, then Sam gave a cant of her golden head to the other padawan gathered.

Objective: Charity meet
Location: Lund Gourley

With the yacht now landed in Lund Gourley's spaceport, it was time for the freight and mail to be unloaded from the yacht, while the passengers would be, this time around, renting their own speeder that only Varindar could drive among the team, where they would see what the local teams fielded, some of which she suspected belonged to local crime rings, or sponsored by local crime rings even if the team was otherwise legitimate. Yet she knew that, despite swimming being a fringe sport, or perhaps because of it, swimming made the generalist news almost entirely because of moneylaundering, be it for the construction of the venues, their operations or betting on the meets. Swimming is a wonderful sport and not only for its practitioners; it saddens me to see our sport being saddled with such off-the-pool criminal activity, even if the races were mostly run fair-and-square, probably to help hide the crimes that go on away from the pool, she thought, before stopping and parking at the designated venue. At that point, all four of them checked in, arriving perhaps 15 minutes early, which did not leave them with a whole lot of time to get dressed and then warm up.

"Come on, go to the check-in table; we don't have much time!" Varindar screamed at her teammates.

"Tell mesa about yousa"

"I am a seasoned fisherman, who often go fish alongside hunting whenever possible and, as a result, is a patient man that will ensure that proper conditions are met" the Saurin answered.

"Tell me what experiences from yoursa older jobs could benefit hair in disen job, and how"

To that the Saurin had to say that his old job at Drill Bit Industries at Lund Gourley was a job that demanded discipline as well as dexterity to perform; at that place, he was one of those responsible for quality control as part of some Six Sigma project, where the objective was to reduce the number of defects from 530 defects per million to one or two per million. So he was familiar with what attention to detail meant in an industrial context. But the Gungan realized that perhaps the interviewee was a better fit for another related position, related to quality control, and as such should not reject his candidacy immediately. There definitely would be a need for quality control, especially with the regulatory authorities being what they are, and they wanted to make sure that they would be compliant with the most stringent food safety standards, at least as it pertains to this region of the galaxy. Love mesa some breaded fish, but yousa need to be sure disen fish issa safe to eat before itsa can be breaded, he thought, while he was ready to switch gears, to make sure he still wants that position over a QC one.

Valae glanced over at [member="Cathbodua"] and gave the other healer a nod. It seemed that she and [member="Taiden Keth"] were eager to get started. Good, it would be helpful to have their assistance here at the make-shift medical center. Transports were setting down nearby the field with fresh supplies, some of which were already being unloaded by volunteers.

“Good, good.” She said, greeting [member="Tanaski Yumi"] and [member="Samara Raine"]. “Thanks for coming today, we’ll need all the help we can get, that’s for sure.”

Her tone was light-hearted, so as not to scare them away from the reality of treating many patients today. Indeed it was a daunting task. These medical clinics were a good opportunity to learn, especially for the novice healer. Many of the injuries and ailments were fairly common and easily treated. But of course, there were always a few difficult cases here and there.

“If you don’t already have one, please take one of these healing amulets to use today. You’re free to keep it after this, a little token of gratitude.” Valae held the amulets out to those that had come to assist. It was a piece that she had designed when the Silver Circle was just getting started, back before her days as Grandmaster. She was happy to see the amulets go to good use.

“These amulets will make fairly quick work of superficial wounds; they are a very good aid for learning and practicing, too.” She smiled, leading the group towards the medical tents. “If you can meditate, you can heal – the healing crystals will do most of the work if you channel energy into them. If you’re new to healing, it’s a nice way to get started. Do you have any questions?” Valae asked, “If not, feel free to give it a try – the other members of the Silver Circle and I are here if you need assistance.”

Cathbodua was looking at the amulets and didn't grab one while she held a hand out and over. the telchek cube in her hand working with the healer robes. She was walking towards the tents with the jedi wearing. The projection showing Rebirth the advanced medical AI that Sakura used. She wasn't part of the silver circle, much like the silver cross she found them inefficient in the long run. The regards of Maya and the few healers they had had within the order seemed worse. So she preferred these jedi. Sakura's jedi healers with their healing crystals of fire, medical technologies and she looked at the doctor and nurse biots they could produce.

She was moving towards some of the other healers while checking them and the healing gloves were presented to her for a moment. Getting the scanner data and information so they could start healing the different people. Her nurses were taking charts, getting information about the patient as they were making files, Her eyes flicked around under the mask and the medical transports from the triage were bringing down equipment. She looked over at a few of the others and spoke finally. "I am not a member of the circle and I only offer to teach." She held out a hand towards one of the patients and the healing gloves channeled the energy to roll across their skin for handling the wounds.

Reaching the tent soon Tana was greeted with the presence of several other Jedi coming for the healing lessons, [member="Samara Raine"] another apprentice, one that seem to shine with hope and determination to help others, a great quality of a Jedi. In addition several other Jedi where already present, [member="Cathbodua"] being a well known face, the woman having met him and his sister a few times in the past along with her student [member="Taiden Keth"] who seemed relatively familiar, all he gave a small wave to.

"It is pleasure to be here Master [member="Valae Kitra"], many work to do I am ready for", a challenge was a very welcome circumstance in his mind, a true test to prove ones skills and determination, even if failing it would still be a proof of strength. Stepping forward he took one of the healing amulets, clutching it tightly within his hand, such an item would never leave his body so long as the boy drew breath. Taking a step back he listened to the master instruction, nodding every so often at her words, "Um master this is my first time using force healing do you have any tips"?

While waiting for an answer he observed master Cathbodua pull out a strange cube, the woman carrying out her own task walking around the tent before speaking, a rather odd speech but to each her own. Though he is raise a question on class distinction, himself being a Silver Shadow would that make him unable to join the Silver Circle?

Off in the distance there were some rather large construction sites here. Roona could see large vehicles and equipment that were needed to build the schools, medical center, and other structures here in the growing town of New Haven. But as she jumped aboard a speeder bike that had been hitched to a trailer, she knew that her destination was elsewhere. Her trailer was loaded up with timber, and various other building supplies that had been freshly delivered. It would all be bound for the residential areas, namely one large community of single-family units.

Clad in a button down shirt, jeans, and boots – Roona looked far from the soldier that she usually was. However, she’d finished off her ensemble with a jacket that would still give a nod to her life as a Ranger. Battle was her job, one that she had dedicated much of her life to thus far. But she had to admit, it was nice to have a day to volunteer her time to a good cause.

Firing up her bike, she took off for the construction site.

This world was rather serene, she mused as she rode. There were trees and mountains, just like on Kashyyyk, but the rolling sprawl of fields here gave this place a quaint and pastoral quality. Roona could picture a different sort of life in a place like this, but that was just a far-away dream. In reality, she doubted very much that she would ever settle down in a quiet place. At least for the current time, the hustle and bustle of the Ranger Base was just her style.

With the wind in her hair, she continued on. It wouldn’t be a terribly long ride, but she would enjoy the sights while she could.

Krass was surprised at some of the things happening where the work was going on and where Seimei their construction group was working. The converters that had been used to clear debris and help the residential locations were working better then they had expected. Her little project here off to the side was working as well. She had a few ideas of what they might be able to do here when the second level of the pre-fab structes were being built. The roadways and pathways between being set up with the containment shielding and the cleaning droids that would maintain all of it. The people were getting a chance to move into areas once they saw it and their fellows were constructing parts for them quicker now that they had been offered a job. Something they could do while learning the skill and would be abel to use once the droids and Seimei were not here in force.

Fifteen minutes was not that long for a swimming team to check in, get dressed, warm up and then get into position onto the starting block. It was a daunting prospect to her: having always thought of Elianne and, to a lesser extent, her teammates at school as rivals, and the same in reverse for Elianne (even though there was no one else on the then-hotel team invited), the key point where it could break down, in her mind, would be the "baton pass" - relay races were new to her, as she understood one, she would need to have her feet on the block while Elianne touches the wall. But would it be new to the male teammates going up before Elianne? I'm a little nervous: back in the Ta'jar era, more often than not, I was in the inner lanes, and so was Elianne; usually the outer lanes signal one's status as an underdog in a single-heat event or in the later stages of pyramidal meets. We might be unknown on Durkteel's swimming scene, but that doesn't mean we're underdogs! she thought, while the lane distribution for this relay was given, with the scoreboard displaying all the teams and the swimmers expected to be in a specific lane, as well as in what order. As a result, she only learned now the names of the swimmers running the first two legs for her team: Irkaniel Chan and Trec Doiae. Lane number 8. On Dathomir, the slowest pools Varindar swam in were those shallow pools that doubled as public pools, devoid of gutter lanes, and she knew the significance of any given lane depended on the depth of the pool and the gutter lanes. As Irkaniel takes up position to start the backstroke leg...

Objective: Job fair

So HR has come to take over Ugohr at the interview station for the new facility in New Haven, leaving Ugohr to attempt fielding pre-orders. While the money from those pre-orders was a liability, he found it better to attempt getting established on this planet using penetration pricing rather than skimming, because food does not meet the conditions for skimming. In fact, he rarely can meet those conditions even when it comes to realty or other financial products. Ugohr realized that the biggest credit-value item from these pre-orders were, well, coming from... Skor cakes, with all other products being rather limited in credit-value. The order management system now in place at Pizza Hutt could distinguish between the type of customers, and also the breakdown of the backlog and hence the size of the liability in the form of deferred revenue. That, even though his experience with liabilities were more likely to be under the forms of accounts & notes payable and, in a banking context, the customers' deposits were liabilities even though they were assets to the customers, and the same in reverse for loans.

"Do you have an idea how many Skor cakes were pre-ordered from this place?" a Squib cook asked.

"Da backlog issa large enough to force usen to distinguish between retailers and other clients. About 12,000 frozen from retailers, and 4,600 from other clients"
