HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Several dozen millennia ago, the Rakatans had enslaved and brought humans to the planet and its moon in the Neu system. When they suddenly retreated from the galaxy, the populations on these worlds were left with no technology, and to fend for themselves. Despite their relatively civilized origins, they quickly fell back into their primitive instincts for survival, and had to build their ways back up from scratch.

Planetside on Meu, the environment and climate fought its inhabitants the whole way. While various attempts at governing structures had risen and fallen, nothing ever stuck long-term. The lack of long-term stability enabled the short-term problem of banditry and conflict, which turned itself into a long-term issue as well. It is a common saying that 'The average man has killed 2 other men' on Meu, a thought only enhanced by their many great wars. After the most recent great war, the civilizations had to revert themselves back to the city-state model for any appearance of peace or progress. Two of the notable groups were those of the Iron Creed and Angels of Meu, both of which formed recently in response to the ever increasing threat of raiders.

On the moon, the former slaves faired a bit better, if not certainly more frightened. The population on Meu I was extremely worried about the return of the people who had enslaved them, and set out immediately to cooperate with one another to build defensive structures and prepare to counter any invasion. Upon this moon was a relic base, which the cradle civilization was terrified of. They feared that tampering with this relic would cause a signal to be sent out, bringing the slavers back to them to oppress them once more. It was forbidden to go within 15 kilometers of the base, and anyone who did so was killed to send a message. As time went on, people began to forget their origins, but still maintained the paranoia and tradition regarding the relic base. They also maintained their defense network in the event the stories they had heard as children were true. One day, a bright blue flash appeared in the sky, showing an odd floating object, before it disappeared a few hours later. A well-entrenched cryogenics company which had begun to integrate other industries decided to seize this opportunity. Millennium, which had initially been formed to research cryogenics convinced much of the population that this flash in the sky was the scout vessel for the return of their oppressors. They concluded that the only chance at survival would be to begin researching the relic base, a task which the government disagreed with: forcefully. What followed was a 25 year long civil war between a corporation and centralized government. Much of the population eventually came to agree with Millennium's perspective, and the war ended with 'The Capture of Garkin City', a nearly 200 day siege. After a few years of being able to research this relic base, Millennium found it to be a crashed space vessel and use the technology to begin building their own space craft in the form of stations, and the start of a navy.

When Millennium finally finished their first few military naval vessels from their shipyards, they traveled to the planet of Meu. They landed in the largest settlement with a small shuttle and attempted negotiations with people who they were convinced were their slavers. After a very brief conversation, both sides realized they could not speak one another's language and the meeting quickly deteriorated with a gun being fired. The Millennium scout shuttle returned to orbit, and their navy began to prepare a bombardment. Roughly 10 minutes prior to their planned attack, several ships hyperspaced into the system belonging to The Lilaste Order. Millennium immediately opened fire on these ships for 15 minutes straight, until all their munitions were expended. The Lilaste Ships responded with an ion shot each which disabled Millennium's ships, simply shrugging off the attacks. The Order boarded the disarmed ships and the situation was explained, before the Millennium delegation was forced back down to the surface, and translator technology was used to prove to them that the residents of Meu were not slavers. This was the beginning of Meu's relation to the Diarchy.
Meu Information

GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
  • Gravity: 1.25x Standard Gravity
  • Climate: Temperate; Colder than average, especially due to the high winds
  • Primary Terrain: Primarily Grasslands, generally flat aside from a major mountain range at the equator.
  • Atmosphere: Type I

LOCATION INFORMATION
  • Capital City: No known capital due to lack of central government and sparse population.
  • Planetary Features:
    • Sparse Forests: Enough to gather wood, but not enough to make it a central building material.
    • Mudlands: Lands made of, well mud. Sometimes reaching as high as one's waist, these lands of wet dirt are perilous.
    • Winding Cave Networks: Caves that litter the underside of the planet's crust, formed primarily from wind pushing the water wherever it pleases.
  • Major Locations:
    • Rakatan Ruins: A crashed Rakatan ship with nothing left of value, whether it was torn for scrap or was destroyed in planetary conflicts is uncertain.
    • The Graveyard: A 12km stretch of a scarred mix of mudlands and grasslands that saw the largest recorded battle in Meu history. It is still common for someone to find one of the tens of thousands of bodies left behind.
    • Village of Avalon: A poorer small settlement home to The Angels of Meu, it constantly faces raids and conflict which requires the populace to remain on guard.
    • Town of Steelmill: A large settlement (at least for Meu) serving as the birthplace to the Iron Creed. It is one of the few towns on the planet that has any semblance of law and order.
    • City of the Collected Folk of Central Meu: Colloquially known as 'The Breadbasket of Meu' (sometimes simply 'Farmville'), this city is the largest settlement on the whole planet. The locals resent these nicknames.

POPULATION
  • Native Species: Humans
  • Immigrated Species: None
  • Population: Moderate
  • Demographics: The planet is only inhabited by humans having been only recently discovered by the galaxy. Responses to outside populations vary significantly.
  • Primary Languages: Old Galactic Basic
  • Culture: Recreational pieces of the culture such as art and sports are skimmed over towards a focus on survival. While the cultures vary greatly between settlements, they often become militaristic to fend off raiders and scavengers.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
  • Government: Planetary Anarchy with local governments forming in settlements, tribes, and groups. There is some trade between the settlements which fosters cooperation, but rarely do they try to exert control for fear of another war.
  • Affiliation: Affiliated and Federated with The Diarchy and The Lilaste Order; Home to Norbert Oro and Janius Everwall.
  • Wealth: Poor due to the lack of central government, consistent raids, and a lower trade volume; all of which is still based on bartering.
  • Stability: Low due to the common raids and tense atmosphere. Many believe large-scale war could break out at any moment.
  • Freedom & Oppression: The only oppression on Meu done outside individual settlements is done by the planet's harsh environment. Generally every person has a high degree of freedom, particularly of movement.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
  • Military: The military on Meu is whatever militia the settlements can muster. While specialized units do exist, the planet has no coordinated defense.
  • Technology: The people on Meu have struggled to move past their industrial revolution, having only recently entered an age in which "Tech" has been invented.
Meu I Information

GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION

  • Gravity: Standard gravity, despite is size
  • Climate: Temperate; Warmer than average
  • Primary Terrain: Most of the moon is densely packed woods, with the occasional grassland. The topography varies greatly, with cascading hills and mountains found almost everywhere.
  • Atmosphere: Type I
LOCATION INFORMATION
  • Capital City: Garkin City.
  • Planetary Features:
    • The Ring: Large concentric rings form around a center placed halfway between the moon's northern pole and equator. These rings are a mess of urban environments with millions of inhabitants. The elevation of the skyline generally increases as one moves towards its center, which is the home of Garkin City.
    • Millennium Space Station: A relatively large space station in orbit around Meu I that appears very new. Despite being freshly built, it now serves as the HQ for the Millennium Corporation.
    • Millennium Shipyards: Several specks in orbit now dot the night sky when groundside. These new space stations serve the sole purpose of attempting to jumpstart Millennium's civilian and military space navy.
    • The Relic Base: A crashed and relatively intact Rakatan vessel lays on the south pole of Meu I. Around it is heavy military defenses to prevent people from getting in and several large research facilities. Despite its gargantuan size, most of the population still thinks it a signal outpost to the slavers that brought them here so long ago.
  • Major Locations:
    • Garkin City: Sat at the center of 'The Ring', Garkin City is the capital of Meu I. Historically where the HQ of Millennium as located, the city is named after Millennium's founder and first CEO: Henry Garkin. It houses a healthy financial sector and service industry alongside the wealthiest people on the moon.
    • Subsector 17: Raising itself in the easternmost side of 'The Ring', Subsector 17 is the industrial heart of not only the moon, but also Millennium Manufactories.
POPULATION
  • Native Species: Human
  • Immigrated Species: None
  • Population: Heavy, while a full census has yet to be done, it is suspected to be in the high hundreds of millions.
  • Demographics: Meu I only contains Humans, though due to its control by Millennium and ever expanding need for laborers, immigrants are relatively welcome.
  • Primary Languages: An antiquated version of Galactic Basic.
  • Culture: Having just exited a quarter-century long civil war, Meu I is still a fairly martial society with emphasis placed on service and productivity. Those that can't work are shunned, and those who choose not to- they starve. The moon's inhabitants' fear of the return of the slavers also ensures an every vigilant population, preparing for when an invasion could happen.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
  • Government: Corporate Aristocracy, controlled by Millennium
  • Affiliation: Affiliated and Federated with The Diarchy and The Lilaste Order; Home to H. Edwards
  • Wealth: High due to the large amounts of industry on the planet, though there is still massive wealth inequality.
  • Stability: High Even though the moon was recently wrecked by total war, Millennium's management of society has improved the standard of living to even higher than it was prior to the war.
  • Freedom & Oppression: Millennium seized control over the planet upon the conclusion of the war, and has set up a phony-government in order to keep the populace under control. People don't fear Millennium, in fact most are happy with the situation. However, there are strict laws and rules to abide by, lest you get a wage cut, thrown in a corporate cell, or even fired.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
  • Military: Meu I has massive defenses, especially against an orbital invasion. Most of this is due to the fear of the return of the people who enslaved them eons ago. Anti-Air Artillery sits atop high-rise towers next to antennas, almost every window and door has the ability to slam a shutter at a moments notice, and even the urban environments are designed with kill-funnels in mind.
  • Technology: This moon is below the galactic standard for technology, but is rapidly advancing due to the recent start of research on 'The Relic Base'. The technology they had was just enough to begin building space stations in orbit alongside the start of a fleet, with things like wireless communication, widespread electricity, and high quality firearms.
