DESCRIPTION

During its occupation of Mahporeem, the Galactic Empire made heavy use of flamethrowers on the planet, such as the CR-24 Flame Rifle and the Oppressor flamethrower. Officially labeled as "defoliant projectors", these flamethrowers were classified as tools rather than weapons, to be used for clearing out swatches of Mahporeem's forest for future construction projects. In reality, these flamethrowers were used on Mahporeem's native population just as much as they were used on the planet's flora and fauna.

Even after the fall of the Galactic Empire, flamethrowers on Mahporeem continued to be known as "defoliant projectors", with the NA-20 being a prime example. Constructed to replace Mahporeem's declining stocks of CR-24 Flame Rifles and Oppressor flamethrowers, the NA-20 Defoliant Projector is capable of outputting immense amounts of fire with its double barreled ignition system, burning and scorching anything unfortunate enough in its path.

The NA-20 is a potent psychological weapon when used against organic beings, though like all flamethrowers, it is far less effective against droids and inorganic material. In fact, most flamethrowers are of questionable effectiveness when compared to blasters, and the NA-20 is no exception. It is a heavy and short ranged weapon system, one that has niche uses at best. When properly used and supported however, the NA-20 can be both an effective and powerful weapon.
