ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Versatile Projectors — The Mynock-class was equipped with a projector barbette that has the capacity to emit either a beam that can push or pull on astronomical objects, from asteroids to starships.
  • Heavy Weaponry — The Mynock-class was equipped with some heavy hitting weapons, a pair of dual heavy turbolaser batteries, which can cause some mean damage to either an asteroid or capital ship.
  • EMP Shielding — The Mynock was insulated with materials to protect the ship from electrical disturbances from either natural phenomena or EMP weaponry.
  • Maneuverability — The Mynock-class was designed to work in dangerous environments, places that were cluttered with asteroids and shipwrecks, so the ship was equipped with emergency maneuver boosters to navigate these rougher parts of space.
  • Speed — The Mynock-class was equipped with powerful engines which frequently provide this ship an edge when it comes to racing through an asteroid belt.
  • Tugging Along — A Grappling Mag was installed on the ventral section of this ship, which provides the Mynock-class the ability to tug astronomical objectives, like stranded starships or smaller asteroids, through either realspace or hyperspace.
WEAKNESSES
  • Minimal Armor — The Mynock-class does not have much in the way of armor plating. Any shots that land will likely blast something important off the ship's hull.
  • Minimal Shielding — The Mynock-class was equipped with very little shielding, directing more of the ship's energy toward other functions, esp., the protectors.
  • Starfighters — The Mynock-class was equipped with some heavy hitting weapons which on the flip-slide are ill-suited to combat fast-moving targets like starfighters.
  • Exposed Rear — The Mynock-class was equipped with radial engines which are notably quite large, taking up 20% of the ship's volume. Because of the lack of point defense lasers, and due to the sheer size of the engines, they make for a tempting target.
  • Small Cohort — The Mynock-class is on the larger end of smaller craft. Because of this most capital ships can only carry a small complement of these ships.
Description
In the aftermath of the Gulag Plague, the re-emerging Republic initiated multiple programs to reunite the Galaxy after centuries of devastating isolation and political fragmentation. Among these programs, the Ministry of Commerce was beginning to launch an ambitious program to clear lesser-known hyperlanes that had become clogged with wayward asteroids and other space anomalies. The Ministry of Commerce wanted to bring wayward sectors back into the Republic fold. To this end, they sent out a Request for Proposals for an asteroid breaker.

The Federal Cooperative would receive approval for their proposal, and subsequently awarded a contract to build the Mynock-class Astro Blaster.

The ship earned its name from the pair of heavy-hitting weapons that flanked the bridge. However, the most remarkable feature of this starship was a dorsal platform, or barbette, which had been equipped with a tractor beam projector on the right side, and a prressor beam projector on the left side. Powered with a compact fusion reactor, the Mynock could use this versatile system to nudge large asteroids away from shipping lanes. The ship would enter into commercial use in 803 ABY, becoming a common sight in the Outer Rim.

Hey, so this ship is also one (1) rating underpowered by my count. Do you want to increase one (1) rating to make it balanced or leave it as is? Please let me know.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to tag me here and I will do my best to help. Thanks!
