My Pros and Cons of Chaos, only better.

A not so long time ago in a galaxy right here...

Dredge's feedback pros and cons

Hi, if you guys don't me I'm Dredge, just a guy who enjoys Star Wars and Star Wars RP. Let's jump right into the meat and potatoes of this.

PROS

The Staff: Honestly the staff here is pretty decent, I mean I'm not gonna get down on my knees and say they are the greatest people in the world. I've seen staff members make remarks that were rude, that were uncalled for, or just kind of mean. I've also seen them drag ass on certain little things on the site like rank titles or faction icons, and hey that's a thing. But let me level here, they don't get paid for this, and most importantly is they are human like the rest of us. Well maybe not [member="Cira"] I'm pretty sure she's Skynet but I'm still not a 100%. But as far as I'm concerned they are great, they are fun, professional, and they do what they can for this community and I'm very proud of all of them despite me having lost my crap in the past.

The site: It runs like a dream, except when it doesn't. Pretty sure [member="Tefka"] outsources the servers to a child labor camp in Bangladesh, but again not 100% sure on that so don't quote me. The site runs great and those kids know what they're doing.

The Community: People and writers from every different background, some professional, others casual, and even some noobs, it's a great melting pot of people and while yes you have your rotten eggs here and there that's just how things are.

Factions: Factions are great! They are fun and a good way to tell a story between you and friends! However I will say this that I strongly prefer minor factions over major factions, and I'll go into that later.

Jon and his Jonnites: Big fan. But I feel like if Jon wanted a gold plated diamond encrusted Death Star I feel like he'd have to open his arms and say "Please me my followers." And it would be so. I'm listing this under pros because I want a gold plated diamond encrusted Death Star and I hope he gives one to me.

Freedom: The amount of freedom on this board is amazing, while its not a mosh pit of sweaty bods rubbing up together there's a good balance of what you can and can't do. There are common sense rules and while I can't be Eleock Dragon Lord of the Ninth Dimension I think I'm going to survive.

Factory/Codex: both are great, adds good flavor to the site and that's about it.

Master level: Now I might get some gripes about this, but I used to say they give out master here like candy. But that's just not true, when I go to other sites like the one I came from the requirements to get master are freaken ridiculous. Here you have to be responsible, capable, and have a story in which you've progressed enough. There's no post requirement, quest, none of that BS. It's great for people who are just writing and progressing their character naturally.

CONS

Faction Limit: I might get some more hate, but just bear with me. There are people who are like in four factions with one character, and while I'm all for creative freedom some people really abuse the crap out of this. And I'm not talking about minor factions of course, it's the majors. Some people just show up for an invasion so you don't have to use an ally slot and honestly I think a character needs to be limited to two majors. I know some people join a faction just to post in their forums for their company or whatever, but I do think believe this is an issue that should be addressed a bit more.

Major Factions: This is more of a grey area than a con for me. But 90% of the drama on this board comes from major factions, because at a certain point your little fun casual minor faction upgrades then it becomes about dominions, invasions, staying relevant, post to this post to that, and nobody ends up having fun. But there are these moments. like these grand moments of sacrifice and loss on epic scales. When Calico was holding Galaar in his arms while he was dying on Druckenwell, I was balling, or when Darth what's her face aka Cira alt 348 jumped into a reactor and blew up. I see these moments and I think to myself that major factions could be like this all the time if everyone wasn't so competitive about it, and trust me I know because I've fed into that mind set of win win win and it gets addictive. But when friends on both sides come together you get those amazing moments that just get to you. But that's just my take on them.

PG-13: I know it's a site for everyone, and hey I'm cool with it. And I don't mean unfiltered to the point of sex, gore, and whatever foul things but sometimes I just wish I could say poodoo and have it be ok. I hate censoring myself as a writer and while I completely respect and will comply with this rule it doesn't mean I have to like it. And let's be honest Star Wars swear words are stupid.

Tefka: He's evil, I hear he outsources the servers to child labor camps in Bangladesh. :p

NFUs: Sometimes I feel like force users get all the attention and fame, and NFUs are like the middle child in a family. Maybe if there was a ranking system for them as well FUs would take an NFU opponent more seriously? I honestly don't know, this has been talked about until death and while the current system works at times it just feels like you're living with a problem when it could be solved. But I can say that I'm not the guy to put a solution forward on it.

Also these

"Cliques": People make friends and write together, get over it.

The like button: Sometimes it's used passive aggressively, you'll survive.

Overall it's a great site and I adore it despite the amount of times I've lost my poodoo and came back two weeks later after seeing the grass is indeed not greener on the other side. It's addicting and fun and honestly the best star wars RP site on the Internet. Screw you Ceel and the gungan you rode in on, chaos has me for life. Or at least until I get bored and forget my password.

I have Jonnites? When did this happen? Nobody told me I had a religion. Sweet.

Dredge, consider yourself High Priest of the Church of Jon. Now get me my Death Star.
