STRENGTHS
Power of Muspelheim: The lava crystal was harvested from the holy volcano of Mt. Muspelheim on Atrisia, famously the site of the Atrisian Jedi Cidd Cindurr's execution. Cidd was possessed of such intense magical power that every lava crystal that formed from the magma residue of the Volcano was forever twisted by the magical energy she released on her agonizing death. The lava crystal is thus enchanted to make the wielder nearly immune to flames and heat damage as its primary benefits. In addition, as a Lava Crystal powers the blade, the blade can flick lava generated off its surface at enemies for a ranged attack.
Healing: The Power of the enchanted crystal causes the owner to regenerate their health if injured at the speed of a regular bio restorative underlay.
Cutting: The power of the crystal allows it to cut through saber resistant metals slightly faster than normal due to magical enchantments
Anti-Dark Side: The magic of the blade allows it to cause great pain and harm to dark aligned beings
Teleport: Encounters with Laertia Io have allowed Syd to experiment in using Force Teleport more in her enchantings. Whenever Starlin needs it, as long as it is within a hundred meter radius, it will teleport back to him when he mentally reaches out for it

DESCRIPTION
Cidd Cindurr was an ancient Jedi cast from the Order not for any crime except a natural affinity for Dathomir type magic. As magic was considered heretical to The Jedi in the time period she was born in, she was censured and then eventually banished from the Order when she tried to instruct a number of select padawans on magic. The exiled Cidd settled on Atrisia, where she sought redemption trying to free the planet from a cruel tyrant, starting her own heretical order of magic using priestesses to oppose him, even stealing strange Flame Magic from a Sith Spirit to aid in her efforts to overthrow the despot. Her rebellion was unsuccessful, The Emperor appealing to The Republic to help him stop her, which they did, by sending the Jedi to route her forces. Cidd was captured and delivered to the imperial authorities of Atrisia, where The Emperor of Atrisia himself personally executed her, violently dismembering her with her own lightsabers and casting her remains into the fires of Mt. Muspelheim, a powerful, active volcano that had a reputation for being a place to find Lava Crystals and also holding great spiritual significance to Atrisians.
Cidd's magic infused blood and flesh was so powerful even dead that the Volcano was forever twisted, any lava crystal found afterward at the site containing traces of Cidd's power and essence. Muspelheim Lava Crystals from before Cidd's execution are incredibly rare.
The Jedi would eventually reexamine the role they had played in Cinndurr's death, and eventually came to conclude that the entire affair, from her exile to her death, was one of the darkest, most shameful chapters in The Jedi Order's history. Due to still prevaling and vehement resistance to doctrinal re-examination at the time, The Jedi did not alter their stance on the use of magic, they did however, pay quiet remembrance to her by establishing an optional meditative and reflective exercise for Jedi who were being considered for acknowledging as a Master. Those who took it would travel to Atrisia, and seek out a lava crystal expelled by Muspelheim, constructing a flat bladed, ceremonial lightsaber shoto around it as an expression of humility towards the exiled Jedi and an eternal reminder that the Jedi Order sometimes gets it disasterously wrong when it comes to deciding who is on the path to the Dark Side. Indeed, so shamed was the Council that exiled her, that they voluntarily demoted themselves to Knight upon witnessing her execution, and spent the rest of their days not speaking a word. Syd obtained this example during an archeological dig. A high quality artifact, albeit the tradition has long since been lost to history IC, and thus Syd does not understand the full significance of the weapon she found, nor her connection to it, but could not help passing the weapon to Starlin due to its useful qualities.
