DESCRIPTION

The Mother-of-Pearl Hairsticks are a unique accessory personally devised by the CEO of Czerka Arms: Tyri Lsu. Being a frequent attendee of corporate balls and celebrity galas, Tyri came to realize that there was something lacking in the stunning ensembles that women would wear to such events. Unlike he or his fellows, who could get away with a ballistic vest and still look presentable, the women had to forgo personal defense in favor of looking absolutely gorgeous. Now, while the occasional hold-out blaster can be smuggled inside, Tyri thought it time to rectify this situation with the creation of an armament that would both contribute to a woman's personal defense...and look excellent with any dress she put on. Enter the Mother-of-Pearl Hairsticks: a set of hair accessories with quite the deadly point. Aesthetically, these appear as nothing more than a beautiful set of hairsticks; each from expertly-shaped Corellian Hardwood adorned with Mother-of-Pearl at the tips. However, within each hairstick is a surprise awaiting any loathesome soul who dares attempt to endanger its owner.

A small tube spans the internal length of each hairstick and is filled to the brim with a lethal dosage of Malkite Themfar: a nerve to in favored by bounty hunters. This is coupled with an excessively small pressure sensor at the top of each stick. If a dangerous situation arises, the wearer of these hairsticks can simply pluck one from her hair and stab it into the would-be assailant; an action that would cause the pressure sensor to react. Upon stabbing, the Malkite Themfar is injected into the skin; quickly turning assailant into writhing victim. What's more, the pressure sensor is the key factor in keeping the wearer safe from accidental injections; as it specifically looks for a specific pressure before releasing its chemical. This pressure is synonymous with clenching the hairstick in a tight fist; which is an action seldom taken whilst delicately arranging one's hair. On another note entirely, the design of the Hairsticks was intentionally devoid of metal. Through this, they can easily be worn through a wide variety of scanners without anyone so much as being the wiser.

In terms of lethality, each Mother-of-Pearl Hairstick carries approximately 400 milligrams of Malkite Themfar. Upon breaking the skin, the toxin is ejected into the bloodstream where it's effects begin instantaneously. While it can take upwards of twenty minutes for the toxin to render the target deceased, the first symptom to characterize the victim is the onset of extreme dizziness and disorientation. Taking only seconds to accomplish, this primary effect can render the average adult unable to stand, let alone continue an assault against the wielder. From here, the toxin wreaks havoc upon the body through the damage and paralyzing of vital organs. Coughing and difficulty breathing begin after the first two minutes, and then full respiratory shut down can occur after the thirteenth minute. By that point, the victim would be reduced to little more than a disoriented, sputtering, and writhing lump upon the floor. Death occurs due to the full paralysis of the body's vital organs, such as the lungs and heart.

As a whole, the Mother-of-Pearl Hairsticks are an accessory that are aesthetically pleasing to the eye, safe for the wearer to don at any occasion, and deadly when facing down a potential assailant.

[member="Tyri Lsu"] - OK, so flesh out for me what degree and time frame of incapacitation/lethality we're talking about with a quick stab or a stick being left in the wound.

I based the lethality/description off of a bite from a venomous snake. I based this description around a quick jab, as that's about how much time the average wearer would have to defend themselves at blaster-point.
