SETTING INFORMATION
- Astronomical Location Name: Moon #133 Ahch-Tre
- Classification: Moon
- Location: Iego, one of the planet's thousand moons.
- Rotational Period: 14 hours
- Orbital Period: 385
- Size: Small
- Affiliation: The Mahporeem Imperial Remnant has granted Dral-Kar'ta Saandyr as representative of MFP Corporation private and corporate ownership with local jurisdiction over Moon-133 in the Iego system. MFP, its Board and its corporate subsidiaries are granted authority over residential admission, development, access permissions, and the management of the property, provided they adhere to Imperial non-aggression regulations and applicable security agreements. The Imperial Remnant retains the right to establish a military installation on the moon should circumstances require it and agrees that MFP, its Directors, or Employees shall not be held liable for any damage to Imperial Remnant property caused by the natural inquisitiveness and destructive nature of the Porgs. Currently no permanent Imperial garrison is presently maintained there. In payment Saandyr Farms wi provide to The Mahporeem Imperial Remnant a yearly volume of 5 million tons of GAPP (Grade A Porg Poop) fertilizer and agree to sell additional quantities of fertilizer for domestic consumption at a reduced market rate.
- Population: Insignificant. The moon has no native sentient population and inhabitants are limited to employees of the MFP Corp. and facilities support staff numbering 150 to 300 employees plus any family. There are approximately 12 billion Porgs in the growing facilities at any one time.
- Demographics: Predominantly Human or Humanoid for the resident sentient workforce supplemented by numerous droids.
- Accessibility: As this moon is located on the fringe of the thousand moon cluster around the planet Iego, it has much easier access than many of the other moons in the system. A large commercial port has been constructed and navigational buoys have been placed to allow the considerable volume of shipping originating from the factory complex easy access to the nearby hyperlanes.
DESCRIPTION:
Moon 133, or Ahch-Tre as it is now known in homage to the Porge home world Ahch-To, is a small, semi-volcanic moon orbiting Iego dominated by vast, slate-gray oceans and a solitary, wind-scoured basalt continent. Wrapped in a perpetual subpolar oceanic climate, this maritime world is defined by its dramatic weather, rich marine ecosystems, and rugged, treeless landscapes. Strong gales, heavy cloud cover, and near-constant rain dominate the atmosphere, keeping the moon in a state of cool, misty twilight year-round.
The global ocean is the true heartbeat of the moon, teeming with an astonishing abundance of aquatic life. Cold, nutrient-rich currents fuel dense clouds of plankton and massive swarms of krill, which in turn support vast schools of diverse fish species. Beneath the choppy waves, towering forests of alien kelp and vibrant beds of algae stretch for miles, creating a dense marine canopy that thrives in the subpolar waters. This thriving underwater biosphere stands in stark contrast to the stark, quiet world above.
Rising sharply from the sea is the moon's single, basalt continent which forms the core of a long archipelago of small sheer cliffed islands. The remnant of volcanic activity long ago. The land is a victim of its own geography, enduring between 210 and 270 rainy days annually. Relentless high winds create a hostile environment for tall vegetation, preventing the growth of natural forests. Instead, the landscape is defined by vast, undulating expanses of resilient grasses, thick mats of moss, and ancient ferns. In the brief, cooler summers, hardy alpine flowers carpet the hillsides in muted colors, while a few stunted scrub trees find refuge only in the deepest, most protected valleys.
The terrain itself is a fractured mixture of craggy basalt hills, volcanic ridges, and sheltered lowlands. Because of the constant precipitation, the valleys are filled with rich but deeply boggy soil, creating expansive wetlands and peat moors. Pockets of geothermal activity punctuate the damp landscape, where rising steam marks the locations of bubbling thermal hot springs and hissing vents. Due to the moon's isolation and harsh climate, the terrestrial fauna is sparse; no large predators roam the land, leaving the mossy hills and soggy valleys entirely to a small variety of small, native burrowing marsupials and hardy insects.
POINTS OF INTEREST
- Porg Production Facility: The production facility encompasses an area of approximately 6 kilometers square and is of modular design consisting of 775 spire blocks, each containing five 56-meter square 15 story (60 meter tall) high breeding spires and associated processing and maintenance structures. These spires are open to the constant humid maritime breezes which provide the perfect climate and habitat for Porg reproduction. Each floor contains banks of 5 vertically stacked enclosures that replicate the Porgs natural cliffside habitat. The hatchery and growing enclosures are equipped with automated algae/fish meal pipelines that supply the required feed to each coop. Porg waste is collected by a floor retrieval system that transports the voluminous waste slurry to a lower-level processing station where the slurry is processed into dried fertilizer pellets for export. F Series Maintenance, MSE-6 Series Repair and refurbished C1-Series Droids provide the labor for the care and maintenance of the Porgs and their supporting equipment. Vacuum collection chutes automatically transport mature birds to the processing areas where retrofitted COO-series cook droids and generic industrial handling units operate the processing lines to ensure the units are handled humanely and efficiently according to strict MFP standards before being flash-frozen and packaged for shipping.
- Marshalling Yard: This multi hectare area is where the processed Porg meat, byproduct Porg feathers and fertilizer go for outgoing shipment and incoming Porg food from the port and off world supplies are organized and sent to their allocated stations. The yard is connected to the main processing infrastructure by an automated maglev transport system and is staffed by CLL-M2 and CLL-8 binary load lifter droids.
- Space and Sea Port: The seaport is where the numerous fishing vessels disgorge the fish and krill obtained from the oceans into the facilities automatic feeding system. This natural fresh feed not only helps ensure the health and quality of the Porgs but sourcing the feed locally drastically reduces the overhead of the facility. The spaceport likewise is the conduit for all outgoing and incoming cargo. One Lucrehulk-class LH-3210 Cargo Freighter is parked permanently in orbit to act as a staging hub
- Power Station: A geothermal power station is located several kilometers inland and provides the power needed to run the facility.
- Residential Area: There is a small residential area along the coast for the families of long-term employees. Essential and ancillary services are provided by the company and are considered of good quality for a small company town. There is a daily shuttle to Iego.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Although moon 133 was discovered and charted over a millennia ago it had never been surveyed and there is no record of any extraterrestrial contact until quite recently when the moons of Iego were offered for private purchase and Moon 133 was finally surveyed. When it was discovered that it had a climate similar to the planet of Ahch-to, it was purchased by the MFP Corporation who constructed a large Porg breeding and processing facility on the moons only largest landmass.
The commercial development of the moon consists of a multi-story porg growing and processing facility covering about 22 square kilometers along with maintenance and support buildings, worker housing, droid maintenance facilities. a thermal power plant, a logistics marshalling yard, a seaport and spaceport encompassing another 40 square kilometers. There are a few smaller fishing ports scattered along the shoreline and islands to provide a steady supply of seafood for the multitudes of Porgs housed in the facility but otherwise the moon is undeveloped. The facility is highly automated and there are usually only 2-300 sentient employees in residence at any one time.
To facilitate safe and speedy access for the constant flow of transport vessels transporting processed Porg meat to the rest of the galaxy, Saandyr Farms has deployed a series of navigational buoys creating a easily navigable trade spur from Ahch-Tre to the nearest hyperlane.
