SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Pierces armour, then explodes inside the target if they slow down the shell sufficiently
  • Effective against both armour and particle shielding
  • Can be used against buildings

STRENGTHS
  • Armour Piercing Capped: The armour penetrating cap of the shell allows it to penetrate a large amount of armour
  • Explosive Filler: Once penetrating a target and accelerating sufficiently the shell will explode, causing massive internal damage
  • Spalling: To add insult to injury, upon penetrating or impacting armour small and heated metal fragments can ricochet around inside the enemy vehicle. This effect is almost guaranteed to cause serious injury to the crew and internal workings of the vehicle.

WEAKNESSES
  • Angling: Armour at an extreme angle may ricochet the shell, preventing it from doing maximum damage
  • Overpenetration: Lightly armoured targets may not impact the shell strongly enough to detonate it, and it may overpenetrate without going off

DESCRIPTION

The Mk.1 Magma shell is a large caliber slug, with four main parts. The first is the AP cap, a piece of depleted baradium that is able to penetrate most moderately armoured vehicles and particle shields. The second part is a durasteel shell that adds mass and protects the explosive filler. The third is the high explosive filler. It consists stabilized detonite that explodes when the fourth component, the fuse, detects when the projectile has lost enough velocity that it will have successfully penetrated the enemy’s armour or impacted the ground.
