OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To provide Ne-Cal with the means of producing many of its new submissions

SETTING INFORMATION
  • Mine Name: MCS-001
  • Material: High concentration of zersium (main ingredient for durasteel), high concentration of titanium, medium concentration of brass, low concentration of silver, under 0.01% concentration of platinum
  • Location: Asteroid MCNC-001A
  • Affiliation: Ne-Cal Military Engineering
  • Size: Small
  • Accessibility: Private hyperlane, pass needed to enter
  • Security: Security cameras, lockable doors and gates
  • Description: As Ne-Cal Military Engineering grew, so did its budget and need for materials, and so it bought mining access to an asteroid with an area of about 137 kilometers within an asteroid belt on the outer fringes of the Mon Calamari system, far to the left and above Mon Cala's orbit. While it cost millions of credits, Ne-Cal saw potential in the raw materials inside the asteroid, and after setting up a private hyperlane to the asteroid, they started up a small mining facility an dug away at the mineral-rich interior.
POINTS OF INTEREST

Support Area - All areas of the MCS-001 facility other than the drill, filter system, and landing pads are referred to as the support area. The offices, living spaces, maintenance rooms, and hyperlane monitoring system all consist of the support area.

Landing Pads - Close to the support area, there are flattened out squares of land that vary in size, but the largest can hold vessels up to 200 meters long. Ships can dock with gates on the sides of the support area.

Drill - Near the center of the mining facility, there is an industrial-sized drill attached to a thick, solid winding metal tube that can extend down up to two-hundred kilometers and draws up mined ores to filtering machines. The drill has currently mined through ten kilometers of material and counting.

Filter System - Once ore exits the tube, it enters a complex filtration system that removes unneeded sediments and organizes ores based on their function.

P-001 - The area of the first patch of platinum found on the asteroid is known as P-001. Seven and a half kilometers below the surface of the asteroid, a hot-dog shaped chunk of platinum ore about the size of a Labrador was extracted from the asteroid. It was an exciting and significant discovery, signifying that the asteroid may contain more platinum ore deeper within. Two days after its discovery, the platinum from the P-001 area sold for over a million credits.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
MCNC-001A was an irrelevant and unknown asteroid until it was discovered by mappers and named MC-071AC. However, the asteroid still remained almost nonexistent in charts until Ne-Cal Military Engineering, looking for ore sources they wouldn't have to buy, discovered MC-071AC. It bought the asteroid from the Mon Calamari government, though it came at a high price due to its size. Ne-Cal renamed the asteroid to MCS-001, set up a private hyperlane to the area, and began construction on a mining facility. After only two months, it was complete and its industrial-sized drill began mining away at the ground beneath it, digging up new ores useful for Ne-Cal vessels. At seven kilometers, it was determined that the planet's mineral content was largely zersium and titanium, with brass and silver also being relevant. After the discovery of P-001, it was determined that there was an extremely low percentage of platinum in the asteroid's interior.
