MILEVA - MILEVA SYSTEM - MID RIM

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Planet Name: Mileva
  • Demonym: Milevan (planetary origin) Siniteen (Indiginous Sapient Species)
  • Region: Mid Rim
  • System Name: Mileva
  • System Features: Mileva is the third planetary body in the Mileva system, also known as the Milevan system, preceded by Lonus and Brettan, and orbited by the moons Dec and Dac.
  • Location: An system near Centares in the Mid Rim, between Centares and Jabiim

  • Major Imports: Primary Imports to Mileva include luxury goods, electronics, droids, ships, and weapon systems. Droids are consumed in a major way on planet, as native Siniteen do not desire to perform low-wage, low-skill repetitive tasks.
  • Major Exports: Primary exports include information and research. Mileva has some of the most accomplished research organizations in the galaxy, and many scientific problems or research opportunities are handed off to Milevan researchers and research institutions for solutions that are often worth hundreds of millions of credits. There is a limited industry in orbital space, with small ships and pre-charged energy cells manufactured at the major space station and the two moons.
  • Unexploited Resources: Many of Mileva's natural resources remain unexploited, including Duranium alloy, Iron, Tungsten, Titanium, Uranium, Natural Gas, and Fossil Fuels. Exploitation of these resources largely halted once the native Siniteen population made contact with the larger galactic community and realized they could trade in literal brain power.
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
  • Gravity: Standard Gravity
  • Climate: Tropical to Temperate, in the range of 25-30 degrees Celsius
  • Primary Terrain: Oceanic, Archipelagos, and chains of tropical and temperate continental masses. Large mountains are rare, and mostly exist below the surface of the ocean. Volcanic activity is responsible for many of the islands being formed, but few of the islands have great elevation. No active volcanoes exist due to the action of the GeoCore Complex.
  • Atmosphere: Type I Atmosphere
LOCATION INFORMATION
  • Capital City: Kentus
  • Planetary Features: Mileva is a world with substantial oceans, archipelagos, and tropical and temperate continental chains. Very few mountains exist and most areas are near a coastline or lake, with springs abounding throughout the planet.
  • Major Locations:
    • Kentus, the Capital City, is built upon a large continental lake in many man-made concentric rings interspersed with canals. Modern buildings fill the occupied spaces, with boats, trains, and speeders acting as primary means of transportation. A geodesic dome in city center protects the administration center of the world, where world leaders confer on a variety of topics in modern buildings surrounded by curated gardens and fountains.
    • GeoCore Complex- a highly advanced engineering marvel situated in the core of the planet, and accessed through a long tunnel that exits near the Southern pole. The facility is designed to stabilize the core of the planet and prevent earthquakes which were once (thousands of years ago) a serious problem on the planet. The facility ensures continued core activity that does not erupt into volcanoes or continental drift and shift, and is powered by geothermal energy. One-thousand employees man the complex at all times.
    • Starplex - An orbital ship docking and maintenance facility that contains facilities for dozens of major research and trade corporations. It also contains a small shipyard for ships of less than 50 meters, which Siniteen still manufacture, usually as small research vessels tailored to their needs. Although construction is limited to small vessels, much larger ships can be repaired and otherwise maintained here.
    • God's Tears - A chain of Islands near the equator, where ancient Siniteen texts suggest God wept after witnessing the beauty of her creation. Her tears are said to have become the islands of this chain. Although this ancient religion no longer holds sway, the islands are still revered for their aesthetic beauty and they are a popular vacation destination.
    • Planetary Shield - A planetary shield surrounding Mileva does not normally prevent physical objects from passing, and exists merely in low-power Ray-shield mode to filter out a percentage of harmful UV radiation from the sun, and to mediate the gravitic effect of the planet's two moons upon the oceans by rejecting a percentage of gravitons. This was necessary to allow the moons to be given gravitic generator cores without impacting tides or wave height. In the event of an attack, a defense mode on the planetary shields can be energized, granting Particle protection against physical objects, including ships, missiles, thrown rocks and other kinetic weapons.
    • Dec and Dac are the two moons of Mileva, and have colonies upon them. They are airless worlds granted an artificial standard gravity by gravitic generator cores. They have massive solar energy farms that collect the ample sunlight of the system, and there is a company named SinSun that manufactures disposable pre-charged energy cells on both moons for export. Enclosed domes and tunnels, along with subsurface areas, provide living spaces for the colonists.
    • Lonus and Brettan are the first and second worlds in the system, respectively. Lonus is a mineral-rich hot world with no appreciable atmosphere, which is largely unexploited but has mining potential. Brettan is a desert world with a toxic acidic atmosphere. Significant Sulfur and caustic chemical lakes exist on its surface, but are similarly unexploited.
  • Force Nexus (Optional): None
    Intent: NA
    Nexus Name: NA
  • Nexus Alignment: NA
  • Size: NA
  • Strength: NA
  • Accessibility: NA
  • Effects: NA
POPULATION
  • Native Species: Siniteen (98%)
  • Immigrated Species:
  • Population: Heavy (10 Billion)
  • Demographics: Primarily Siniteen population with a smattering of alien humanoid immigrants and vacationers. Most humanoid species find the know-it-all attitude of many Siniteen to be offputting, and the Siniteen know-it-all attitude makes it hard for them to see the value in employing outsiders. This is not an overt racism, but it remains a kind of racial prejudice common among native Siniteen who have never ventured out into the galaxy and learned that there is more than one way to be a valuable contributor to society.
  • Primary Languages: Galactic Basic, Siniteen, Twi'lekki, Shyriwook, Durosian, Rodian
  • Culture: Milevan culture is driven by the primary population of Siniteen, who have developed a sort of Geniocracy, a society driven by intellectualism and intellectual pursuits. This was not always the case, with Siniteen society once being a diverse mix of laborers, intellectuals, artists, and other roles. However, upon meeting the larger galactic society, the Siniteen soon learned that their vast intellect was their primary planetary asset. Siniteen who do not qualify for a research or scientific role nowadays often travel offworld, as it is said that 'A Siniteen Idiot is often the smartest person in any room outside the Mileva System.' In fact, this bigoted saying is often enough factually true, such that Siniteen have become popular hires in many careers off-system. However, the achievement of great things is not always correlated to raw brain-power, and even the Siniteen can not escape the possibility of Mediocrity. On Mileva, there is a difference between a Resident and Citizen, with a Citizenship examination being required to gain the right to vote. This examination is designed to establish a base voter IQ threshold. Non-native species are allowed to become citizens after 1 year of residence and a successful citizenship test. There is officially no discrimination on any basis other than the age of majority, which is twenty. However, an unofficial discrimination exists against people discerned to be mediocre. Droids perform almost all menial tasks and labor on world, including low-level research assistant work.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
  • Government: Representative Democratic Geniocracy
  • Affiliation: Milevan Democratic Alliance (The Milevan system is an isolated government sphere ruled from the planet Mileva and its lunar colonies.)
  • Wealth: High - due to a prospering research-based economy.
  • Stability: High - nonconformists typically take advantage of the opportunity to leave the system and seek their fortunes elsewhere. Siniteen are not generally bent towards crime or revolutionary behavior.
  • Freedom & Oppression: The population is free, but biases against 'low' intelligence cause unspoken biases to exist that stack the deck among 'normal' people and members of other species.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
  • Military: Mileva has a token military force, including about a hundred starfighters and a thousand space commandos able to deal with small military matters of concern to Mileva. The Siniteen population believe that trading with everyone ensures that no one will try to conquer them. This belief has yet to be seriously tested. A planetary shield does exist which can offer protection against orbital bombardment when it is engaged.
  • Technology: Galactic Standard, due to importing most of their goods from Galactic Standard worlds, but with trends towards High Tech due to native research and innovation.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Mileva was originally an isolated world, populated by Siniteen sapients who dominated the predators of their environment using their superior intellect. The name of the world, Mileva, and the name of the system's star, also Mileva, refer to an ancient mother-God believed to have birthed all life. The native Siniteen eventually developed high technology and a space program, which allowed them to colonize both of their moons before they first interacted with other members of the galactic community about 5200 BBY.

The native Siniteen soon realized that their intellectual capacity exceeded the galactic norm, and gradually converted their system's economy with an eye towards leveraging their intellect for the benefit of clients. By 5000 BBY, the planet had been converted to a Geniocracy festooned with centers of learning and advanced research institutions. Siniteen who fell below the intellectual average, or had personalities of nonconformity, were encouraged to seek their fortunes outside of the Milevan system.

Mileva has at times done work for the Empire, the Sith, the Rebels, the Republic, and the Galactic Alliance. They do not generally discriminate in whom they will work for, maintaining a neutral stance in galactic affairs. At times, they have joined coalitions which promise a neutral stance, and then dropped out of those organizations when they became more politically and more militarily active.

There is a phenomenon of some modern Milevans becoming restless, due to the fact that their modern culture does not have a place for many pursuits beyond the intellectual. Once, the Siniteen population was as diverse in purpose as the sapients on any other world. Nowadays, an ancestral and evolutionarily derived need to perform physical labor, creative expression, and even hunting, military and security work is unfulfilled. Rather than cater to these needs, the Milevan government will actually pay for the travel tickets of non-citizen residents who wish to travel out of system. This has created a diaspora of Siniteen persons throughout the galaxy, who take jobs in all manner of industries. Siniteen have worked as remarkable artists, engineers, menial laborers, mercenaries, and military personnel.

Only those Milevan who travel out of system truly have a chance to truly understand the equality of beings, for they have seen the value of things beyond the raw brainpower a brain case can produce. In their own way, these Milevan (mostly Siniteen) include the most accomplished of Milevan, and the Milevan Democratic Alliance has carelessly discarded them to the stellar winds.

Ello! I had a read through this before placing it under review!

Always enjoy reading a submission for a canon planet. I love seeing what people do with them. This is a good one, a well linked submission that's both a good read that taught me what a Geniocracy was. Love learning new things, thank you!

I'll give this a trainee stamp and pass it up for secondary review. Cracking job.
