Eyes squinted against the massive barren landscape of the unknown moon. Orbiting Phaegon III, it was the largest in orbit, and also the most profitable of all those scouted. If it had a name, it was lost to time and war, now laying quiet. As far as Makai knew, the moon used to be a major mining hub - as evidenced by the massive structure built into the side of the cliff. Work was currently on going to bring it operational once more.

The Sith Order had thrown its doors wide open to commerce. A bill had passed providing opportunity for corporations and business to flourish. There were stipulations, as with anything in life, yet the terms were fair. Unlike some governments, there was no punishment for working with an opposing ideology, key for someone like himself.

The scope of what he had planned was massive. Many worlds were off the beaten path and rich with ores. A few he had in mind for expansion of ocean and kelp farming. His main focus on the unnamed moon was lignan ore. The large moon was practically coated in the stuff. Makai was mildly surprised no one was here until now.

Considering the large scale of his ambitions, he had called in Marquis Nargath to form a partnership together in Sith Order territory. There was more than enough business for both of them - more than either could handle really - and having someone else to help lay the foundation for mining in the area would be invaluable.

After craning his head upward at the giant structure, Makai finally turned to the Marquis.

"Structure should be operational soon for joint efforts. Mining should be underway soon, at least in this area. It will take a great effort to build and streamline a supply chain away from the mining worlds - some of these planets are off the beaten path. An advantage now, the isolation has kept other companies at bay."

He paused for a moment.

"I am sure you have thoughts."

The Marquis was quite amazed by the massive structure in front of him, the moon in all honesty didn't have much to show for, except the absolute presence of mining facilities. Though a lot of these structures and facilities seemed to be old, dilapidated and just plain decayed in some parts, the one structure they were standing close to had managed to maintain its magnificence, having weathered the barren moon's unrelenting drift of dust and sands.

From what he had gathered, the moon had been wiped clean from all of its life by a couple of deranged Sith Lords in the distant past, taking along part of the moon's crust with it, looking at Makai Dashiell Makai Dashiell gleaming at the structure, the harsh light forcing the both of them to squint, Tertius let out a gentle sigh. "I could build one or two powerplants on a central location to make sure your mining facilities can run without much of a hassle."

Chuckling ever so slightly, the Eriaduan noble looked up at the structure as well. "Will you be trying to restart the old facilities or will you set up new lines?"

Bending through his legs and reaching for the dust and what looked like grains of grayish sand underneath their feet, the Marquis held a small heap of the material in his hands, lifting it up a bit to the sun before blowing at it, dusting off his hands at his coat. "I reckon for now my best guess would be that you'll probably have your own people start surveying the old mines and possible new locations, right?"

Turning his back towards Makai for a moment, the Marquis motioned his Valkan guards to approach from the shuttle he had arrived at this place with, directing them to spread out a bit and take samples of the 'soil' they had been threading on. "Lignan, hmm... strange how this place seems to have been missed or rather ignored for so long."

"My father is a salvager, Marquis Nargath. I grew up learning how to salvage myself - of course I am going to bring the old facilities back online. Where it counts new components will be used but the bones are good here. This was built to last. There's no reason to reinvent something and waste our valuable credits."

A pause.

"A power plant would be wise. Soon as you can get your workers here. I think you and I are both eager to get this show on the road. I have survey crews on the way. I've also got a team trying to scour archives for any old information about this place. Especially geological surveys. Would save us an incredible amount of time."

The half-Galan watched as the Marquis looked over the soil. The pair were going into this moon together - a joint partnership. Some facilities would be separate but the mining was a joint venture. He found it odd the Marquis left EOTL for this opportunity but the credits were too good to pass up. Lignan was valuable to more than just force users. Starship construction also greatly benefitted from the ore - an invaluable resource overlooked for decades by the look of things.

"I have found Marquis most people overlook the very things they walk on daily. Ores and minerals - not an exciting field of business for most. I'm not surprised this has been untouched. Not many miners guilds these days. You and I might actually be the largest mining companies and I've just started out on my own..."

He was rambling, time to bring it in.

"I am sure you have terms Marquis? Certain inflexible conditions regarding this project."

"It is a decent profession, being a salvager," The Marquis tilted his head a bit backwards in order to try and take in the magnitude of the facilities present on site. "Waste is the enemy of our economy, so it is a necessary thing to salvage old products and outdated material to turn into something new or repurpose. It would indeed be a very good idea to at the very least have your father assess the situation as well, his expertise as a salvager might give us a good idea on the overall costs of restarting the mines here."

Raising his left hand to gently comb through his hair, the Eriaduan noble let out a soft sigh as he listened to Makai, the scion of the Dashiell's had a point in calling the contruction of a power plant wise, especially considering the power plant also doubled as a fuel refinery, which in turn could be utilized in transportation and added another stream of revenue. While the N&Z's Noxinium B lacked the widespread nature of Tibanna Gas or other more widely available fuels, Tertius was nevertheless certain that with increasing the number of PF facilities, the fuel would get more recognition.

"Well, you didn't overlook this place, so there is that," CHuckling softly, the Marquis nodded in agreement to what the young man said, noticing that indeed it is mainly an issue for those who have missed this opportunity rather than they themselves. "As for being the largest mining company...I have been eyeing a potential partnership with Ando Mining Collective, though I am utilizing them as a subcontractor at the moment, it would be very beneficial to have them come aboard and merge with my USCM division. This Brakkus Brakkus fellow knows his stuff and seems to be eager in starting a salvaging company as well...perhaps it might not be a bad idea to arrange a meeting in concordance to the idea of starting a mining guild."

Probably to Makai Dashiell Makai Dashiell 's surprise, the Marquis just waved his hand at the question whether or not the man had any terms or dealbreakers. "All I have are suggestions, agreements can be made and alterations can be introduced to any design or contract along the road. I see no issue with you running the entirety of the mines, since I can effectively reap my own reward in the form of providing on site security and transportation, with the power plant being what I call a benefit for both our endeavours."

So far the meeting with the Marquis was going well. They both seemed to be on the same page in regards to their efforts in Sith space ; profits and expansion. The half-Galan was pleased to be working with someone with such a mentality ; he didn't have time for things such as politics and petty disagreements. With the idea of how their agreement would work lingering in the air, Makai didn't see a need to change anything. Both would profit and be able to pull resources from the mines and planet. Both would benefit from the security and power package.

"Ando Mining Collective? I don't know anything about them but I would like to learn more. I would also like to explore the possibility of a mining guild. It would strengthen business for all involved and also gain us more power with governments and other businesses. Power in numbers at times at such things."

Would he have the time for a mining guild? Not to run one but to sit on a council he certainly did.

"Tell me more about this Brakkus Brakkus fellow. I should meet him? He is focused on business like you and I?"

"He is...a man of strong principles," Tertius chuckled, remembering that while he had thought he could string almost everyone around his hand with enough prospects for success and wealth, Brakkus Brakkus had shown strength of character rarely found among those who traversed on the corporate path. "One who seems to value integrity as much as profits, a rare combination in my opinion. However, I believe that they may prove to become a valuable asset to not just the N&Z, but all those who would see his value for what it truly is."

Tilting his head a bit, the Marquis gave Makai Dashiell Makai Dashiell a calm nod. "If you mean with that, someone who has their eyes on the prizes within the mining business, absolutely."

Taping with his feet on the ground, Tertius let out a short sigh, wondering if the planet they were visiting could maintain large mining operations to begin with. With the facilities being rather old, the planet's stability seemingly not exactly optimal according to the scans made by his associates. "On the grounds of the operations themselves, would you be employing native people from the system or would you rely on a more automated workforce, Mr. Dashiell?"

"Brakkus sounds like an interesting business man. Perhaps he and I should meet in the future. Can't have too many connections in the mining world."

Makai wondered if Brakkus was going to expand himself in Sith Order territory. So far the business boom seemed fine. Nothing of concern to note, no overtaking of facilities or enslaving of a workforce. All a good sign so far in his opinion.

"Typically I hire refugees, especially now. Sentient labor force is what I prefer with droid labor as support. It shouldn't be too difficult to find a sentient labor force. I pay well, benefits are good. Trouble with this line of work we're often in desolate locations so it can be hard to get those with familial ties."

Makai paused before continuing, looking at the facility for a moment.

"However, I remain unconcerned. I can always look for volunteers within the company and then re-hire for more popular locations. Or we can sub-contract out the work, which I am always wary to do. My name is on the line and it's difficult to trust others."

The Chairman of the N&Z Umbrella Corporation let out a chuckle when hearing Makai mention the fact that he pays well. It was true that if a fair wage was given for the labor, gathering a proper workforce would not be much of a hassle. Still, the Marquis of Valkan wondered if having a few mining outposts and a few power plants and fuel refineries was going to be enough.

"Perhaps we could build a transportation hub as well," It wasn't much of a stretch to create both a transportation hub on the ground with landing platforms and proper rigging for transport freighters, shuttles and other small to medium sized craft. It would also help with the transportation of the goods both Makai and Tertius would be mining and producing on the planet. "Aside from that though, perhaps rather than subcontract...I can still divert some workers from Eriadu and Erinar to this place, there has been a bit of a plague on the central Eriaduan finances with the Sith Empire encroaching on our borders, the insecurity seems to have forced an exodus of outer rim and core businesses from the mid rim."
