Inspired by Dak’s Galactic Alliance FAQ. I thought it might be a great time for the board to get to know the new First Order. If there are any questions that aren’t answered here please feel free to reach out to me on Discord at Jae#7838. You’re also welcome to join our Discord, here.

Who are you guys? Are you any different from before?

Our core writer base includes both writers from the old First Order and those who have never participated with the First Order before. We’re a small group of writers right now who are working together to tell the story of a nation getting back on its feet.
We are looking to explore the rich potential narrative ground of rebuilding a destroyed faction, with all the potential and consequences that come with it. It is a story of learning hard lessons and building something that pays tribute to the core ideals of the golden age of the First Order. From an In-Character (IC) perspective, we want to embrace the history and lore of a battered faction regaining its pride and place. Out of Character (OOC) we are dedicated to growing our community and fostering a nurturing, collaborative, and open atmosphere.
On the OOC side, we’re frequently in voice calls, playing video or free, web-based games together, watching movies, and generally enjoying each other’s company. We anticipate continuing these activities as the First Order grows, and we invite you to join us!

How did this First Order come about?

This First Order came back after the events known to us as the Fall. The Fall began with the Second Siege of Dosuun, an invasion by the Ssi-Ruuvi Imperium who ultimately vanquished the original First Order. Between the Fall and the new First Order, a proxy government, backed by the Sith Empire and known as the Dosuun Hegemony, took over the Dosuun system.
This group was made up of people who had fled Dosuun only to come back and line their pockets with Sith-Imperial credits, rather than reclaiming and redeveloping Dosuun for the benefit of the surviving population. This information eventually found its way to Ariel Yvarro, cousin to the former head of the First Order’s government, the late Grand Moff Natasi Fortan.
Furious that her cousin’s legacy had been left to rot. Ariel went to Dosuun with a mind to reclaim it not just for her family’s legacy but in the name of the First Order. It spiraled from one woman’s quest to a gathering of former First Order patriots and new allies which led to the First Order growing in influence on Dosuun.
Ultimately, the Dosuun Hegemony was pushed out of the system while the First Order’s provisional government gathered troops to eliminate the Ssi-Ruu Imperium’s presence on Dosuun, destroying most and pushing the remaining Ssi-Ruu off the homeworld. Officially the First Order was reestablished with a brand new charter in 862 ABY. The newly chartered First Order has crucial differences from the old one, specifically around their softening attitude towards non-humans and a view to cooperation in the region rather than conquest.

What are the goals of this First Order?

IC: The primary goal of this First Order is to re-establish its presence as a power in the galaxy. This means rebuilding their military, consolidating their influence around the home sector (first three hexes), and working with other factions in the galaxy.
OOC: We want to collaborate and create member-driven stories that work for different types of characters (Naval commanders, Pilots, Stormtroopers, Moffs, Business people, and other civilians, and Force Users). We want to have engaging narratives that keep people coming back to our threads.

What makes the First Order different from other Imperial factions?

The First Order has rich lore, built over the past five years (OOC) and fifteen years (IC). Our leadership team remains committed to expanding the lore and recognizing the creativity and dedication of its writers. There is much that can be plundered from this deep historical record. Additionally, the First Order offers the opportunity for members to tell the compelling story of a society defeated but not broken, rebuilding, and reaching for greatness. Acknowledging the past while moving forward is a crucial part of what makes us stand apart.
The First Order’s outlook on the Force is another point of distinction; the First Order is not beholden to the ideologies of the Light Side or the Dark Side, instead, striving for balance, knowledge, and power.

What does the Moff Council do?

The Moff Council is the decision-making body of the executive branch within the First Order. Moffs are sector governors who are approved or removed by the Supreme Leader, typically on the advice of the Grand Moff. Also known as the Cabinet, they support and execute the agenda of the Grand Moff and work closely with members of Parliament. Members of the Moff Council may have generalized or specific briefs (i.e. Foreign Minister, Minister of Transport).

Who will be your Supreme Leader, and what happened to Sieger Ren?

For those who recall, the previous regime of the First Order was led by Supreme Leader Sieger Ren. He was also the head of the Knights of Ren. During the Siege of Dosuun, Sieger Ren disappeared from public view, and he is presumed dead. Our new Supreme Leader will be a familiar face for those who were around during the previous regime.
For the newer members of the board, our new Supreme Leader will be the former Grand Moff. Natasi Josephine Fortan, who sacrificed herself to allow the capital to be evacuated during the Second Siege of Dosuun, perished during the First Order’s fall of 856 ABY. The story for her return and the eventual reveal is coming up and I know some of you are quite eager for that to occur. If you wish to be part of the ‘reveal’ thread please let me know.

What about the Knights of Ren?

The First Order’s creative staff felt that given our new direction and the canonical information provided between the founding of the First Order faction in 2015, it would be best to separate them. Therefore the Knights of Ren, like Sieger, are gone.

Will Force Users have a place in the new First Order?

Yes! They will, we’re still developing an entirely new system for them so bear with us!

Right, okay, but who or what will be your new group of Force Users?

We have decided that we wanted to put the ‘fantasy’ back in space fantasy. So we’re doing a lot of research and deciding what we want these guys to be in terms of how they will represent the First Order.
So to that extent, I can say that we have decided that these Force Users will serve the state. They will also echo the First Order’s sentiment on balance and view the Force as a tool of balance. The First Order as mentioned in our broadcast blogs, does not ascribe to the Light or the Dark to any extreme.
We are basing our Force Users off of fantasy novels such as the Wheel of Time, the Stormlight Archives, the Mistborn Trilogy, and games such as Dragon Age and Elder Scrolls. So stay tuned to our broadcasting blogs and new propaganda material for more information on who and what our new group of Force Users will be!

What are your Armed Forces?

Our Armed Forces consist of three branches, the Navy, the Army, and the Starfighters. The Stormtrooper Corps is part of the Navy, in the very same way that the Marines are part of the Navy.

What’s the difference between the Army and the Stormtroopers?

The Stormtroopers are basically our Marines. They are the tip of the spear. They are the first into battle and face the enemy when they’re at their strongest. Stormtroopers also work aboard Naval vessels to both execute and operate boarding operations and to conduct anti-boarding operations.
The Army follows in after the Stormtroopers and works to capture and occupy. Additionally, the Army is equipped to seize territory and defend it. The Army encompasses infantry, armored cavalry (like walkers), artillery operators, engineers, scouts, and drivers, along with numerous other professions.

Alright, so what about the Starfighters?

The Starfighters are trained to work aboard a Naval vessel or operate from a fortification. Its primary mission is to ensure that the First Order’s interests are secure both in the void and in the atmosphere. They operate starfighters, light and heavy bombers, interceptors, defenders, drone, and droid fighters along with a variety of aircraft meant for in-atmosphere operations.

What is the First Order Security Bureau?

The First Order Security Bureau (FOSB) is our main intelligence agency. They’re divided into branches, which include surveillance, investigations, internal affairs, and operations. We will have more information regarding the FOSB as we continue to build ourselves up.

I hope this has answered some of your questions, if you have any others please feel free to DM them to me on Discord. Or you can post other questions here and either myself or one of my admins will do our best to answer it in good time. And of course, you are always welcome to pop into our Discord and have a chat.
