STRENGTHS

That Will Buff Out: This vessel is a Tank. Its shields are powerful and multi-layered able to absorb considerable amounts of fire before coming down and if they do the hull and armor cladding is thick and able to withstand substantial amounts of fire without serious damage.

You Call that a Cannon, This is a Cannon: It has few guns but the ones it does have are oversized for its class and pack a substantial punch. Armaments are designed to take down shields and critical systems of vessels much larger than itself for capture rather than outright destruction.

Able to Bullseye a Womprat: The main guns may not be able to produce a heavy volume of fire but the shots it does get off are more likely to hit their target as their accuracy is enhanced by laser sites and targeting computers.
WEAKNESSES

Do a Barrel Roll: The ship's powerful vectored engines are able produce significant thrust for a ship of its size. Although this trait helps the vessel's speed and maneuverability it can cause flight instability during drastic maneuvers. As a result, this craft is difficult to fly for new pilots and its flight characteristics are unforgiving even for experienced Pilots. Only skilled pilots that are familiar with the craft can get the most out of it.

No Pew Pew for You: The weapons hit hard but their rate of fire could be best described as unhurried. This is not a nimble fighter thus it can struggle when outnumbered by smaller more numerous and maneuverable opponents.

Home Body: This vessel, although falling within the starfighter category, is not designed to operate in squadrons and takes up a lot of space in internal hangers. It is designed to patrol within regions containing planet side logistical support and while it is able to hold 12 troopers, it has no facilities to support them for any length of time.

DESCRIPTION

The genesis of the MDL Saber Crest was a design request from the new Guard Patrol of the Mandalorian Protectors for a Law Enforcement/Patrol Vessel to replace their ageing and outdated Pursuer Type Enforcement Craft. The result was a capable craft combining and modernizing the attributes of the ST-70 Razor Crest and the D-5 Mantis patrol ships. The Guard patrol has placed an order for twelve of these vessels with an option for twelve more making it the largest order MDL has yet received.

Designed to fill an intermediate role between the Protectorates Aranar Type Corvettes and their G-1A starfighters, the Saber Crest is designed to patrol in and around Mandalorian space with the capability to counter and defeat smugglers and small bands of pirates, enforce customs regulations and maintain law and order within the sphere of Mandalorian influence. With the speed to run down smaller craft, the weapons and armor to match larger craft and the ability to disable and board hostile craft, the Saber Craft is well positioned for independent operations in threat environments not requiring the capabilities of a full-sized corvette. Its speed and capabilities make it well suited for customs enforcement, anti-piracy actions, border security, and rapid-response deployments throughout Mandalorian space. Smaller than a corvette but more capable than most patrol craft, the Saber Crest is sure to occupy a versatile position in the arsenal of the formed Guard Patrol.
