Ever since arriving in Denon very few places offered any comfort or space to cool down from a hard day's work, one was his shabby apartment and the other was a Tavern named the blue flame. The bar was a hotspot for Darkwire members as well as locals who were looking to have a good night out. At this point you could say it was his second home, considering Xan Deesa Xan Deesa was out of the picture he had nothing but himself. Nonetheless, he was a familiar face amongst those who were regulars and they made sure to look after him well.

Walking through the entrance of the warm and cozy establishment he weaved in and out of patrons standing around, even nodding to some who he had talked to before. At least if the authorities came barging in looking for him he'd know a few people in here who would cover for him and even fight for him if needs be. Darkwire itself was one big family, once you were a part of it everyone had your back no matter the problem. He felt belonged, and that's all he asked for when they were all against one common enemy. From the looks of things, it seemed to be a busy night, at least most of the faces he saw were friendly enough.

The teen took a seat at the bar and took off his blue jacket, placing it across the back of his chair to get himself comfortable for a while. Catching the attention of a cleaning bartender he came over and listened to what he had to order "The strongest beverage you have in stock, please" Cartri said sarcastically, something of which was replied with a smirk and shake of the bartenders head "Yea, by all means in a few years time. For now your keeping to the juice" he replied, his hand dropping a clean mug into a container below the bar. Cartri shrugged and let off a small chuckle, clearly knowing he wasn't going to get it anyway "It's the effort that counts... Can I have a milkshake instead, surprise me"

With a small nod, the barman turned away and began prepping a mystery milkshake, something of which was sure to taste sensation no matter the flavor. Tapping the table a few times a thought from earlier reminded him to check his datapad for any jobs coming up, forcing him to lean back and grab the device from the inside of his jacket pocket. Tapping away on the screen he eventually went into his own world of thinking, blocking out the noises of the customers talking around him.

It was a strange thing.
Prior to the 7 or so months she spent laying low on Denon with close friends, Valery had rarely set foot on the planet. Perhaps once or twice for some odd business, but now it almost seemed to be a frequent occurrence. Today, she traveled there to investigate some concerns about potentially shady business from one of the larger corporations active on the planet. She wasn't quite sure what to expect, but corruption and illegal business weren't all too surprising on Denon.
What she did know, however, was that more information could be gathered in one of the local taverns, where people with more information often gathered. Whether those were civilians with grudges against the greedy business owners, workers who were laid off, or even insiders.
Nothing offered more information than visiting a tavern after work hours — with a few drinks down, people talked way too much.
So after traveling to Denon in an outfit that didn't scream Jedi, the woman stepped into the tavern, carrying with her a kind of confidence that often drew eyes towards her. For a moment, she'd stop just in the doorway, her reflective orange eyes taking a moment to look around. But after taking in much of the people inside, she stepped up towards the bar and leaned forward onto the counter.
"Something strong and local," Valery asked the bartender with a faint smile.
She wasn't a big drinker, but getting her drunk was very difficult — she could cleanse the alcohol from her body at an unnatural speed. And since it was important not to stand out too much, she went with whatever the bartender offered. It would give her some time to look around more, and listen in on the rather loud conversations around her.
But rather quickly, something entirely else stood out to her; a younger boy. Seeing him at the bar, she blinked and briefly perked a brow. Bit young for a place like this... she thought to herself, but her expression likely revealed those thoughts.

For a time everything seemed just right, nothing was bothering him or getting on his nerves. He was just in his own little bubble chilling out, reading through messages and the freshest news coming out of Denon. Although, rather unexpectedly a funny feeling went through his body. He had only felt this feeling once before, long ago on a mission to steal some seeds. But since then, he hadn't had the same experience up until now. Shaking his head slowly, he decided to ignore the sense and instead switched to a page that discussed the motives of Darkwire and their true intentions. And it wasn't a surprise to find out it was a corporate official who wrote the article for the digital newspaper.

Cartri brought two hands to his eyes and slowly rubbed them out of tiredness. Not only had he done a huge conditioning session but some data gathering on a few Corpo officers who had recently been promoted, to say the least, he really needed this wind down. Looking to his left he caught the sight of a woman staring at him in a judgemental way, almost like she hadn't seen a kid relaxing at a bar before. Keeping his gaze on her for a few more moments he curiously looked behind to see if anyone else was watching. Whoever this woman was, he definitely hadn't seen her around here before. Looking back to the Jedi, he raised a questioning brow and pushed to reveal her motives "Uh... Is there something wrong? Let me guess my hair is weird to you?" he half joked, before the arrival of his milkshake broke the tension for now.

"Thanks..." he said with a nod to the barman before picking up the delicious dessert and sipping its contents from a draw. At the same time, the corner of his eye would keep on her suspiciously, silently judging her for a few moments in his own way "From the look on your face I'm guessing that's the case. Unless you're one of those people who are trying to keep a low profile and failing miserably at it" Cartri questioned, his hand smoothly locking the datapad to protect it from the unwanted gaze of the woman. For all he knew this person could have been watching him for longer, and he wouldn't have any hesitation in making a break for the back exit if she made any funny moves.

While she had initially looked his way because of his age, she quickly realized that something else caused her gaze to linger a bit longer. Valery could feel that this young boy had a connection to the Force, albeit unrefined and largely untouched. But that wasn't going to stop him from feeling something about her if she allowed him to, so she decided to lift the veil that normally cloaked her presence in the Force somewhat.
"Nothing is wrong," Valery replied with a faint smile, as her presence in the Force echoed between them now. She felt calm and strong, a beacon of light that was hard to mistake for anything other than a Jedi, to those who could tell the difference.
At this point, the bartender finally returned with her drink as well, which she accepted. Looking down at the glass, she had no clue what it was or how strong it would be, but there was no going back now. Picking up the glass, she swirled the content around a little and then raised it up to her lips to take a sip. It was strong, really strong; but she didn't really show it.
"But it's not often that I find someone with your gift in a place like this." She set her glass down on the bar counter and raised a hand to tuck some of her long hair behind her ear, allowing her to look at him from the corner of her eyes. Valery didn't specifically say what she meant by that, but she had a strong feeling he'd know. The only question that remained was how he'd respond to it.
Not all were fond of Jedi on a planet like this.

"Nothing is wrong?" he repeated back to the woman suspiciously, his thoughts of her being some kind of CorpSec investigator getting stronger by the second. When he was about to question her further, the feeling he felt at the start shot through him like a bullet and stopped his line of thought. Hesitantly, Cartri looked up and watched as she stirred the strong beverage, trying to get his head around as to what this feeling was indicating. Then, with great timing, she said something that would make things click together.

"How do you-" was the few words he said before realising who was sitting in front of him. she was no regular person, but instead a Jedi. This was strange though, when he met other Jedi he never felt that feeling, including with Yenna Yenna his teacher. She must have been stronger in some way, or possibly one of the few that chose to let him know of her true identity "You're are a Jedi, ain't you? what are you doing all the way in the middle of Denon?" he asked in a more quiet tone, just in case there was any haters sulking around the bar.

"And yea... I guess you're right about a "gift" like mine being in a place like this. Since being here I haven't really encountered anyone else who has the same thing as me, so for all I know I may be the only kid on this depressing planet to have it," he replied with a small shrug and another quick sip of his milkshake. It was clear once the truth was out he seemed calmer and at ease with talking to her compared to how it was at the start "I wasn't born here originally, instead I was born on Garos IV to some people who I never knew. Thankfully, some good folks here saw promise and gave me a fresh start to finally build a life. If it wasn't for them, who knows where I'd be right now"

Examing the woman a bit more, he soon noticed the scar across her eye. He took a few moments to glare at it curiously before striking up the courage to ask about the strange injury "What's up with the scar on your eye?" Cartri said with a point to his own eye to indicate what he was on about. With a scar like that she must have been in loads of conflicts, a fact which only made Cartri more interested in her role tenfold.

"You're are a Jedi, ain't you? what are you doing all the way in the middle of Denon?"
Valery offered a smile in response that betrayed her answer, but it also showed her gratitude for him lowering his voice. She wasn't exactly concerned that she'd run into trouble here that would prove too much to handle, but she certainly preferred not having to draw a weapon if it was possible.
"I'm here to look into rumors about some illegal business from the corporations," she said before she raised her glass back up to her lips to take a sip of the drink that only seemed to get stronger, the more she drank. Realizing that it likely didn't really narrow things down, she looked back up and turned her eyes to him.
"Well, something a bit more extreme than the norm, I should say. I'm not quite sure what, but people up top have gotten rather nervous about it," she said, her own voice lowered just a tad. "Came here to see if I could pick up on anything."
She then listened to the young boy as he began to talk about his origins, and to an extent, it reminded her of her own upbringing. The Jedi had found her when she was really young, so her parents hadn't truly raised her either — the Jedi had, and in particular, her old Master and friends from before her time in stasis had been influential.
But his story finished with a question that caused her head to tilt slightly.
"What's up with the scar on your eye?"
"It's a reminder of a mistake I once made, and should never repeat," Valery said rather flatly. It was a long story she rarely told anybody, so she kept it fairly short. "Happened a long time ago though." She smiled faintly and raised her glass up for a longer sip, almost as if she was directing a change in topic.
"About that connection of yours — you haven't been properly trained to control it yet, have you?"

What was a Jedi looking into CorpSec business for? maybe Darkwire weren't the only ones noticing their hideous atrocities. When she mentioned the investigation his eyes seemed to light up with wonder, considering for almost a year he had been doing the exact same thing, but on a more nuclear level. Cartri gave a small nod when she revealed she came here to find information on the matter, and in all honesty, the Jedi had come to the best place possible. Considering she was trying to pick up intelligence from the people present, the Jedi was speaking to an individual who had troves of data on the sneaky acts they had committed. In other terms, they probably had a whole list of his own destructive acts too.

His time with Darkwire had been the best times of his life, blowing up factories and punishing those who looked down upon the innocents of Denon had never been so fun. Way better than rotting away in the orphanage for the past fifteen years.

Cartri frowned slightly when she chose to only answer his car question, disappointed that he wouldn’t hear the story behind the strange mark. Nonetheless, he understood why she didn't want to. It could have been personal to her, everyone had something they wanted to keep hidden, including him. Deciding not to press further, he took a big slurp of the milkshake up until she inquired about his power. He took his lips away from the straw and gulped, almost as if he was hesitant to talk about it to a stranger like Val

"N-no... not exactly. I started training to control it with another Jedi, but only every now and then can she come to Denon. Her teachings have helped me in ways, but I've still got a ways to go in fully understanding what I have on my hands." he said without looking at her, trying not to show any weakness or vulnerability with the thing he found hardest to talk about. Cartri let out an audible sigh before looking back at her with a sullen expression. It was probably best to shut down the topic while he still could, he didn't want another Jedi digging into his past. Yenna did that enough...

Sliding his milkshake towards the Jedi, he shuffled his chair closer to her and leaned closer to talk with the woman in a lowered tone "You mentioned something about looking into the corporations right? maybe I can help you with that" the boy revealed, using it as a way to drive the attention away from that particular subject "I may not look like it, but I know a thing or two about how they operate. I can tell you now most of them are slimy collectives who don't give a damn about the citizens of this planet, all they do is treat them like slaves." he said with a bitter tone, his head looking around to see if anyone was watching "Please, tell me who or what you're looking for. Maybe I can point you in the right direction"

Cartri knew he was taking a risk here, considering he had only known this person for only a matter of minutes. But considering she was a Jedi, she had to be respectable and trustworthy in some regard. And, if she had something against the corporations it would work in Darkwires favor greatly.

A Jedi had been training him out here? On Denon? Valery blinked in surprise when she heard it, but it also gave her a sense of relief. Those not able to control their connection to the Force could unintentionally hurt themselves or others, and a Jedi teaching him would also offer the guidance to prevent a darker path.
"Well, if you have any pressing questions or problems when it comes to that gift..." she looked around briefly to make sure nobody was listening in and then turned back to him. "...feel free to ask," she said with a sincere smile.
Valery then watched him shift closer and allowed the conversation to head in a different direction — she came here for information about the corporations, so it was probably good to go there. He also didn't seem entirely comfortable talking about the Force and his connection to it.
"Please, tell me who or what you're looking for. Maybe I can point you in the right direction"
Valery tilted her head lightly, almost surprised that such a young boy potentially had so much information. But then again, this was Denon, so should she really be surprised?
"The rumors I heard involve the corporations playing a role in human trafficking — likely for something or someone in the outer rim. If this is something you know more about, or if you have an idea who could be involved, I would like to know. So I can put a stop to it."

"Thanks..." he said with a thankful nod, knowing that he would need the advice more than he knew. So far, the Jedi seemed calming and polite to him which was a good change compared to some of the rowdy conversations he has with other people.

Listening closely to what the Jedi was here for, he couldn't help but sigh. Any of the operations on Denon could be doing that kind of shady business but in terms of transporting individuals to the outer rim that was totally new to him. It was normally between the companies they'd do that, not to someone halfway across the galaxy "Well, trafficking on Denon isn't really new around here. Transporting them to other planets on the other hand is something I don't see as often" Cartri picked up his datapad and lowered it out of view from the Jedi, quickly typing in a few passwords and combinations to get into the secure device. At the same time, he'd look back to the woman to see if she got suspicious, seemingly shooting her an unimpressed look if her curiosity got the better of her.

Lifting the pad back onto the table he tapped away and slid various pages across his screen "There is however a development that could prove useful. A few months ago a new company was made in Denon, promising to export the best food, gadgets, and oddities the galaxy had to offer. It was even announced by the notorious corporate speaker who is pretty much the voice of all the corporation's greed on Denon. Not much is known about him other than he wears these strange glasses and is a complete egomaniac, other than that he has somehow kept a low profile considering his publicity"

Stopping at a particular page a news report describes strange activity coming from the newly proposed company, such as shouting/screams and how only ships have been going out instead of coming. Putting it between him and the Jedi, he allowed her to skim through the news report but under close supervision "We're not the only ones who have noticed this strange behavior. Citizens and journalists alike are getting suspicious, and it gets even more strange when that report was only wiped from the issue a few hours later. Thankfully it was saved for evidence in time"

Finishing off the rest of his milkshake, he slid the empty glass away from them and switched off the pad once more "I hope it will help you on your search, after all, trafficking doesn't belong anywhere in the galaxy, especially not here..." Cartri explained, before daring to ask the proposition in mind "Considering I've helped you out with this, I may as well come with you. And please, if you think you need to look after me then you're sorely mistaken. In terms of destroying a company, I know what I'm doing, as well as handling myself."

Leaning back from her slightly he caught a whiff of the drink she had been sipping on, a smell that made him scrunch his face and wave the smell away from his nose "Damn, what have you been drinking?!" he said with a chuckle as he chose to ask his first official Jedi question "Do all Jedi have a strong resistance to alcohol? because if I had one sip of that I'd be on the floor"

Valery offered her usual kind smile as he thanked her for the offer she made, but the moment he produced his datapad and began to enter access codes, her gaze turned away. She wasn't a curious type when it came to people's personal information at all, so she took the time to make sure nobody had been looking their way. Luckily most were either too drunk or too invested in their own conversations to notice the two at the bar.
After he gained access a moment later and began to show news reports, Valery leaned in a bit closer and looked them over while she listened. It was painfully obvious that he was a lot more up-to-date when it came to shady business on Denon. She was aware of the underworld on the planet, but that it ran this deep?
"This information will definitely be useful," Valery said as her eyes shifted from the display to him. But the way he looked at her, she already knew what he was going to ask before he actually did.
"Considering I've helped you out with this, I may as well come with you. And please, if you think you need to look after me then you're sorely mistaken. In terms of destroying a company, I know what I'm doing, as well as handling myself."
A soft sigh escaped her lips and while she still didn't quite like the fact of bringing a kid along on a mission, he seemed mature and knew this planet much better than she did.
"Fine, you can come along. But if things get too hot, I'm bringing you back out." She said, showing the caring nature through her tone a bit. They had only just met but she always felt responsible for those who joined her on dangerous assignments, and she made sure to protect them. Even if they didn't necessarily want it.
"Perhaps I can show or explain a thing or two along the way as well, regarding your gift." she then added with a smirk. Valery then somewhat reluctantly raised her glass to her lips and downed what remained. Disgust was visible in her expression as she set it down and looked at him.
"It's a simple technique that allows your body to handle the alcohol better. But... I should have gone with a different drink." she admitted with a faint smirk.
"Now, where do you suggest we start? Any location for this new corporation that you have?"

"Deal, if things get too hot I'll even leave myself" he replied, knowing there was a fine line being stupidity and bravery when it came down to missions like this. You had to know when something was too much, else it may cost you your life or something far worse. At least she cared for him considering his age, some odd job wouldn't bat an eyelid throwing him into danger to get a job done.

Cartri could only smile when she offered to show him a few things to do with the force. It would have been a lie to say he was slightly nervous, but it was a good possibility it will help him out in the long term "Sure, as long as it's not mind control I'll be all ears. That kind of thing would be too tempting for me" Cartri joked before glaring sharing a laugh to the disgusted expression on her face "Ha... even the mightiest of Jedi seem to make mistakes from the looks of it"

Raising up from his chair he threw on his coat. getting ready to head back out into the cold streets of the place he called home "If it wasn't so public, It would have been a pain to find. But Since there are pictures and announcements outsides of it the facility wasn't that hard to pinpoint" he said as he motioned for his Jedi friend to follow him outside "Let's get a move on, it ain't too far away but we don't want to be hanging about the streets all night"

Exiting the comfy tavern he walked out onto the ever busy streets on the planet, weaving in and out of oncoming people as they hurried along in their very own daydream. Every now and then he shot a glance back to Valery to see if she was keeping up, sometimes people who weren't used to the busy crowd of Denon struggled. But from the looks of things, she appeared to be doing just fine.

Cartri stopped at the edge of a quiet street that housed a number of corporate industries, his eyes looking at a large facility which was the first one on their left. The teen cooly leaned up against the wall and nodded to the front gates, where two security personnel stood guard "There she is, doesn't look much from out here does it?" he declared as he looked back to Valery with an inquisitive expression "How do you want to go about it? I don't have my gear but we can easily make something work. The facility has a number of cameras scattered around, along with one at the front as you can see. Along with that, pristine concrete walls surround this joint like a prison so climbing over might be a no go" he said with a small shake of his head while a hand went to his chin. Above them, a ship slowly hovered above the facility and slowly came to land inside of its big walls, indicating the number of landings pads inside.

"Someone has got to use the front gate at some point, if we can somehow hide in some kind of transport we may be able to get in without a hassle"

She seemed rather relieved that he was willing to step back if things got too hot. Younger folks especially could be way more reckless and with a job like this, that could lead to really problematic situations. The scar on her face was the result of just that, so it always worried her with Padawans or other younger people.
"Tempting, maybe — but restraint and control are always important when it comes to using the Force," Valery said in response to his comment about mind control. Any ability that deals with the mind had to be handled extremely carefully, but perhaps this was her Jedi philosophy coming through again.
A grin then formed as she pushed the glass that had contained the disgusting drink away. She adjusted her jacket and followed him outside, into the dense crowds that wandered the streets at night. Luckily, she used to live on Coruscant and during her pregnancy, she had spent her time on Denon as well, so Valery had learned to maneuver herself through the crowds without drawing too much attention to herself.
Finally, they reached their destination and Valery began to run through all her options while Cartri gave his assessment. As a former Jedi Shadow, infiltration was something she was really good at. But the methods she knew to bypass their perimeter wouldn't work with a second infiltrator.
"Hmm," she muttered. "That might be our best bet, and I think we have our chance there." she gestured for a large transport vehicle slowly moving towards the compound.
"The cargo side is likely locked, but that won't be a problem. Stay close." And with that, she quickly began to move, making sure she remained in the dead spot of the truck whilst using its large frame to stay out of sight from anything or anybody else. Sneaking up behind the truck, she spotted the locking mechanism of the door, and briefly nodded to Cartri, who she knew would have been able to keep up.
With a tap of her hand, the sound of metal falling apart would suddenly echo through the inner side of the cargo section. But luckily, the sound of the engine was much louder.
"Come on, let's get inside," she said as she pulled open the door, the locking mechanism shattered.

"Hm?" peeking around to see the transport rolling by he slowly nodded to the Jedi's orders. Although, as they quickly rushed from the blindside he was wondering how she was going to unlock the cargo door. The Jedi didn't have anything other than her saber, but using that would give away their presence.

Keeping close behind Val, he nodded back to her check with a determined expression. If he agreed to come along he would need to keep up and not be a liability, both needed to be on the same wavelength if they wanted to get out of this joint without a hitch. Watching her hand touch the metal he heard the sound of metal fall to the ground inside, leaving Cartri to open his mouth wide for a few moments in amazement "Damn, that's so cool"

Climbing into the back of the cargo transport, his eyes looked back to the door and fallen piece of metal "Can the force fix it too? we've got to seal it before it gets to the gate" he whispered just in case the drivers would be able to hear them over the engine. Even if the force couldn't fix cold metal, the Jedi surely had a plan up her sleeve to lock it tight again.

Cartri glared into the assortment of boxes, trying to find a good place to hide just in case they decided to peek inside "Might be worth finding somewhere out of sight. Even if it's awkward, you won't be sitting there for long" the boy mentioned, even though she probably knew about the whole deal already,

Carefully, he went in between the neatly lined up boxes and saw a large enough space for him to squeeze into. He slowly kneeled down and pushed himself in between the two boxes until he was almost curled up in a ball.

All he hoped was that they weren't bothered with checking what was inside, because sitting in this awkward position for any longer was surely going to give him one hell of a cramp soon.

Stopping beside the gate, both driver and security were going over the usual procedures. However, the longer they bickered the more Cartri got tense "For the love of kark just let us through..." he thought to himself, shifting awkwardly in the little space he had.

"Can't fix it," Valery said as she picked up the few broken pieces that had fallen into the cargo area. "But what I did mostly cracked the lock as it remains within the frame. So it just looks like the lock broke under the stress of driving." Valery whispered back. Without any signs of damage to the door itself, it could have never been a powerful tool. She hoped that would take away any thought of it being people breaking into the vehicle.
Valery then nodded as he mentioned hiding and her eyes began to look around. Her build and general form didn't exactly make it easy to squeeze herself into anything, but she would have to. All the way in the back, she managed to pressure herself through two large boxes, until she ended up behind them.
It wasn't comfortable, but it was only temporary.
When the two reached the gate, the driver and security began going through their normal procedures. It didn't really bother Valery, but she could softly hear her companion's grumbling. Now that they were so close to getting inside, she wanted to be quieter and decided to reach out to his mind telepathically.
<T> "Don't worry, they'll let us pass."
And sure enough, they were not stopped at the gate. The vehicle moved into the unloading area and finally came to a stop. With the engines powering down, there was a sudden silence and both would be able to hear the driver moving around to the back to open the door.
"What... karking lock.." he muttered before he grabbed the first box and walked away. There was complete silence now, which Valery took as an opportunity to pop up and look over at Cartri.

"Let's see if we can move through this place unseen as long as possible. You ready?"

n0m34qi.png

Cartri tilted his head in confusion from a voice coming from his head, one that exactly sounded like the Jedi he was in the same cargo area with. He had experienced it enough to conclude that the Jedi had some kind of mind control ability, one that allowed them to enter the very minds of who they wished. Out of everything, that was the one thing he wished to learn in the future, partly just to mess around with unknowing people.

Soon enough, the Jedi's promise was proven as they slowly went into an unloading area. When they came to a stop Cartri couldn't wait to finally escape the cramped confines of the crates and began to raise himself up. Although, as soon as he heard the driver coming up to the door he quickly sunk back down awkwardly to avoid being seen by the worker.

The man grumbled about his dodgy lock for a few brief moments before wondering off, leaving Cartri and the Jedi alone for now. With a small grumble of his own, he finally lifted himself out of the tight gap and looked back to see the Jedi doing the same "Cool trick by the way" he whispered with a point to his head and a brief smile "But yea, let's go. We don't want to be hanging around when the driver gets back"

Cautiously walking to the entrance he looked around the ghostly yard for anyone about before jumping down and jogging to a pile of crates that was out of view. He looked up to the Jedi and motioned his head over to a line of large containers placed neatly on shuttle pads "Those containers over there, we've got to check them before anything else" the boy suggested, a frown crossing his lips from the possibility of people huddled in the despicable conditions

"If they really are transporting people off this planet, that will be our best bet to find out"

Checking his surroundings again, he ran across a small opening and went towards the shuttle pads. Now and then he'd hear workers and patrolling guards talking amongst themselves, clearly obvious to the threat that was only around the corner.

As they came up to the first crate Cartri spotted a security guard walking around the back of the cargo containers, close but out of sight for now "Alright, there's probably a few more. Keep your eyes out" the boy warned as they arrived at their target.

The boy pressed his ear against the cold metal and listened to see if he could hear something, anything that could point out life was present. For a few seconds, he heard nothing but silence, until what sounded like a faint cry came from within

"I... I heard something" he said softly, motioning for the Jedi to listen herself to see if his hearing was right. The rumors were right all along, those sick karks really were shipping them out of this joint. This led to a whole new ordeal now, how were they going to get them all out?

"Getting these people out now would only cause them further hurt by the guards, and with just the two of us we can't protect them all..." the boy said openly as his eyes gazed to the HQ, where the main control room was sure to be held

"If we can get into the control room, we may be able to figure something out from there. Unless you have any bright ideas?"

Valery's eyes settled on the large shipping containers after Cartri gestured towards them, her mind extending to receive glimpses of what could be inside. With each step they got closer, she felt fear ramping up within her mind — not her own fear, but that of those who had lost all hope in a good future. So by the time the two reached the containers and Cartri began to listen for sounds of people, Valery already knew the answer that he confirmed moments later.
"I... I heard something"
She placed her hand against the side of the container and due to her proximity, it was easy to feel the emotions of the people inside. Valery frowned as a result and felt the muscles in her arms tense up, her jaw now clenched. She despised slavery, not because she had a past that involved it — just because of its very nature.
"You're right," she said as she finally turned away and returned her arm to her side. Even though she had felt that the rumors were true from the beginning, having the actual confirmation seemed to have made things far more serious to her. Everything about her demeanor showed it.
"Let's get to the control room first. We'll likely have to draw their attention to us, and then allow the people to escape when the guards are away. It will still get chaotic but it might be our best bet." Valery then turned away from the container, her brows furrowed as they'd leave behind the slaves.
Together, the two then moved away from the landing pad and continued to quietly maneuver through the compound, avoiding guards and workers in the process. But the deeper they went into the heart of this beast, the more they were forced to evade, hide and move in circles just to remain undetected.
Finally, they rounded the corner of a long hallway, ready to step up towards the HQ but something stood in their way. As well as they were able to avoid conflict, they suddenly found themselves face-to-face with a single guard. His pistol was still holstered as he stood frozen, eyes widened as he realized two intruders were in front of him.
Slowly, his hand began to move for his belt...

Cartri looked back to Valery as she confirmed the inevitable, her face showing an expression of concern for the people inside. The Jedi seemed to have a deeper disgust with trafficking than he thought, was this for herself or really a mission the council gave her to eradicate?

"Agreed, drawing attention away from the prisoners will give them a better chance of getting out of here alive. There's a good chance of being some kind of alarm within the control room to gain their attention, shouldn't be too hard to get into once you get me to the terminal"

With a small nod to his temporary companion, they began to carefully make their way over to the control with haste. Looking left and right in the courtyard, they both ran to the main compound and managed to slip in through the back. There were cameras littered all over the place, but thankfully this weak point in their defenses was not properly looked after. Due to their ignorance of not believing anyone would get in, they seemed to be lazy enough to keep the fire exit open to allow fresh air to come in. What a bunch of fools...

The pair navigated their way through hall upon hall of corpo infrastructure, dodging and weaving past cameras and patrols that were coming in their direction. It was uncertain if they had been spotted by any hidden cameras up until this point, although at this time, it didn't really matter as much. Considering their goal was to be noticed, having it been done earlier was not going to be a set back by any means.

As they began to approach the security office a group of footsteps echoed off the walls of the long hallway, forcing the pair to take shelter in an empty conference room which had the lights still on. Keeping their sights on the door, they waited until they heard the mumblings of the workers go further down the hallway.

"Now... lets finally head to-" Cartri suddenly stopped and turned his head to a confused guard behind them, unsure of how to react as they awkwardly stared at each other. He shot a quick glance to Valery before shooting his head back to his hand that reached for the blaster. Without a moment's hesitation, he raised his hand towards the guard's blaster and suddenly tugged it to the right when he raised it from his holster. The blaster flew from the mans hand and into the wall beside them, almost breaking in two from the amount of force behind it.

"There's tw-" was the only thing he could alarm before Cartri rushed him with alarming speed, jamming a fist into his throat while he reached down to his stun baton. Letting out a pained choke, his body fell back first to the floor with a bump, struggling to gain breath from the sudden crush of his windpipe. Walking alongside the struggling lackie Cartri slowly raised his foot into the air and stomped it into the side of the mans head. It had enough power behind it to knock him out cold but cause any serious injury.

"Someone probably heard that. Here, take this and see if we can use it to get into the main control room," Cartri said, chucking over an ID card that could be used for a scanner of some kind.

"We must be cautious though, the guy who runs this joint is probably lurking around in there. And trust me, when we get our hands on him he's going to provide some answers and fast... "
