  • Classification: Sword
  • Size: Average
  • Weight: Light
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Marrowfang is a slightly shorter than average blade with a long handle whose nature seems to shift to suit the wielder; to some it is the worn handle of a battle-scarred blade and to others an ornate design worthy of kings, but its true form is an organic horror that seems to cling to the hands of the wielder, refusing to let itself be sheathed until blood has been spilt. Victims of Marrowfang find their very life force drained from their bodies to strengthen the blade and its wielder - those who survive their wounds are likely to suffer from a variety of diseases.
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
  • Pestilent Edge: Marrowfang's supernaturally sharp edge can cut through durasteel like butter; even the smallest nicks often bring infection.
  • Bloodthirster: Marrowfang drinks the very life force of its victims to invigorate the wielder while pushing them towards frenzied butchery.
  • Corruption: Marrowfang is simply wrong; it can be easily sensed at a distance, recoils from the Light, and encourages casual homicide.
DESCRIPTION
The Shadows loathe the Nether Ghouls, considering them abominations to be culled - Kal of Masque was no exception.

When he was informed that a particularly ancient and cunning Ghoul had found its way into the alleys of the Warrens to prey on its residents, the Shadow was quick to dispatch several Grey One Battle-Cadres. None returned. With time and effort the Ghoul was brought to heel, but the cursed creature seemed particularly resilient to boot. With the usual methods of destruction coming up short, Kal opted for a creative solution.

Binding the spirit to a blade forged by an associate with unbreakable chains of Sorcery, the creature was forced to turn its bloodlust towards more 'productive' avenues and feed the life force it drains into the blade's wielder rather than itself. In this way, it should slowly starve to death.

Unfortunately, the creature seems to retain enough power to influence wielders towards the carnage required to properly sustain it.
