SOCIAL INFORMATION

  • Headquarters: Mandalorian Protectors HQ, Sundari Mandalore
  • Ports of Call: Maridun, Ketaris, Onderon, Obora-saki, Lantillies, Ferrix, Ord Radama, Ruusan, Uyter
  • Goals:
    • Patrol: The modular nature Of the Guards organization makes it excellent for patrolling Mandalorian space and its boarders. Many small patrols ensure full coverage of shipping lanes, ports and lesser traveled areas. The numerous bases spread throughout Mandalorian territory ensure that patrols that encounter resistance can be rapidly reinforced
    • Escort and Trade Route Security: The patrol's numerous smaller craft not only ensure that the trade lanes and access to ports remain flowing and free from disruptive incursions, it also monitors the traffic itself to ensure all vessels comply with Mandalorian maritime and customs regulations.
    • Civilian and Military Support: The Guard Patrol is capable of more than traffic control. Wile lighter than most military fleets the patrol does have combat capability and routinely operates Frigates and Cruisers in high threat areas so is quite capable of exerting control over recently acquired sectors, countering even the most well-equipped pirates and acting as a scout force for the battle fleet.
    • Counterinsurgency: The Guard Patrol is not simply a Fleet; it is a fully fledged para-military Police Force capable of space and terrestrial operations being well suited and able to rapidly deploy to threatened sector. Trained in counterinsurgency and crowd control tactics the force's Aran'verd troopers are well trained and able to quell both internal and external threats.
  • Reputation:
    • The Mando Cabur b'Aaran Tabalut has a reputation for incorruptibility and adherence to regulations. Respected for being calm and professional in their dealings with the public they do however insist that their authority is respected and are not shy about escalating to violence (within their permitted restraints) if needed. As the Aran'verd (Guard Troopers) often operate in small detachments for extended periods of time, they have developed a code of camaraderie and brotherhood considered strong even among the notoriously loyal Mandalorians. It is reported that if a fellow Trooper is in danger and calls for help every Trooper will come to his aid and more and more will come until the threat is neutralized or the trooper rescued. There is a saying that 'There is never just one Aran'verd.'

HISTORICAL INFORMATION:

The Aran'tablut is a division of the Mandalorian Protectors. In traditional Mandalorian society the structure of their collective government had always been a confederacy of independent clans with decentralized power and a relatively weak central authority ruling by the consent of the Clans. With the establishment of the new Empire a more formal centralized structure was adopted. The Clans were still responsible for local matters and retained an influential role in the government but new institutions of federal, or more precisely Imperial, control were instituted to provide an overarching administrative organ to provide cohesion between the local Clans and systems within the expanded areas of influence of the new state.

The Mandalorian Protectors id the closest thing Mandalorian society had as a police force as most enforcement was done at the Clan level. The Protectors provided the overarching structure to enable the new State to police its citizens and within the Protectors the Guard Patrol was established.

Drawing its lineage from the old Mandalorian Patrol of the Clone Wars era which was itself a unit of the larger Mandalorian Guard and acted as a Planetary Security Force intercepting smugglers and other suspicious craft. Reconstituted the focus of the Guard Patrol, as it is now called, has been tasked with patrolling and protecting Mandalorian space from smugglers and pirates to facilitate, monitor and regulate free and secure trade within Mandalorian space, to enforce national trade and customs regulations, to provide support for local law enforcement when needed, and to patrol the boarders and frontiers of Mandalorian space.
