Compact and Capable - The new G-1A is a relatively small yet versatile platform that is able to perform many different functions well without sacrificing its abilities in other areas. It may not be top tier in every category but it is good in almost all categories not having to sacrifice speed for protection or maneuverability for firepower.

Strong Disabling Weaponry – The vessel's two ion cannons, robust tractor beams and the ability to deploy ion missiles allows this vessel to disable a ship's shields, systems and engines with minimal hull damage, supporting boarding actions and asset seizure.

Optimized yet Versatile - Designed specifically for the needs of the Mandalorian Guard Patrol division of the Protectorate it is capable of operating effectively with a small crew for extended patrols or with a larger crew for boarding and seizure operations. It is able to hold its own when operating independently or to coordinate effectively with other vessels when required.

WEAKNESSES

Very Small Squadron Size - With only four craft per squadron, the G-1A lacks the massed presence needed for large-scale fleet engagements or area saturation patrols.

Limited Heavy Firepower - Its armament is optimized for disabling targets rather than destroying them, making it poorly suited for combat against heavily armored military vessels.

DESCRIPTION

The MDL G-1A Patrol Starfighter is a redesign of the venerable Byblos Drive Yards Transport Starfighter modernized to fit the needs of the Guard patrol division of the Mandalorian Protectors built by Mando-De'Loren Multi Atmospherics to incorporate updated and modernized ships systems, weapons and propulsion. The primary function of the new G-1A is Law-Enforcement rather than combat therefore its weapons are optimized for deterrence, control and capture rather than battlefield efficiency. A pair of laser cannons provide the vessel with adequate offensive deterrence and its two ion cannon, ordinance launcher and tractor beams coupled with its speed, maneuverability and ability to deploy a four-man boarding team allow it to intercept and capture suspect vessels within Mandalorian space. Classed as a Patrol Fighter it is larger than a typical starfighter with enough endurance to operate in a multi-system environment yet it is smaller, faster and more agile than a traditional patrol craft enabling it to operate in atmosphere and within obstructed environments. Its weapon systems reflect its policing mission - twin laser cannons provide offensive deterrence; however, the true core of its design lies in its adaptability. Its ion cannons and ordinance missile launcher capable of firing Ion Missles makes it capable of shutting down ships intact for boarding and seizure. Twin tractor beam projectors further reinforce its role as an interdiction platform - restraining disabled craft and preventing hyperspace escapes. Internally, the vessel has the internal space to provide extended logistical support for a crew of two and limited support for four passengers or prisoners. It is small enough to act as a personal shuttle for a single protector, a 'squad car' for a pair of Constables, an anti-pirate fighter, a light customs patrol craft, prisoner transport and even a systems defense craft when deployed in squadrons. The MDL G-1A Patrol Fighter is able to preform all these functions without compromising one for the other and has the potential of becoming the workhorse of Mandalorian Law-Enforcement.
