STRENGTHS

• Durable: Like many of Gel's creations, the Mandalorian Recon Helmet is constructed primarily out of Beskar, making it immensely durable and resistant to damage
• Recon: The Mandalorian Recon Helmet's Macrobinocular functionality allows its user to quickly gather large amounts of data and information when used in the field
• Breathable: On worlds with especially toxic or hazardous atmospheres, the user of the Mandalorian Recon Helmet can activate the helmet's integral Breath Mask and Rebreather system to allow them to breathe clean air regardless of environmental conditions
• Nightvision: Each Mandalorian Recon Helmet is equipped with standard Night Vision, allow their users to operate during night or in dark environments
• Stealthy: Mandalorian Recon Helmets come equipped with Reflec Coating, greatly enhancing the stealth characteristics of the helmet itself

WEAKNESSES

• EMP/ION: Mandalorian Recon Helmets are especially vulnerable to EMP and ION damage, due to the large number of electronic components carried within the helmets themselves
• Disorienting: Use of the Mandalorian Recon Helmet's Macrobinocular functionality can potentially cause confusion and disorientation for the person using it, especially if they are not used to the zoom functionality of the device itself
• Manual: The helmet's Macrobinocular must be manually adjusted into position and operated, potentially keeping one or both hands occupied while doing so
• Occupied: Mandalorian Recon Helmets are generally unable to equip additional equipment onto themselves due to the size and complexity of the already attached Macrobinoculars

DESCRIPTION

During the Iron Covenant's invasion of Humbarine, many Mandalorian Warriors complained about the difficulty of recording troop movements, numbers and locations, being forced to utilize third party equipment in order to do so. In response to their complaints, Gel Karn decided to forge a specialized type of helmet for Mandalorian scouts and infiltrators, creating what he called the "Mandalorian Recon Helmet".

Each Mandalorian Recon Helmet comes equipped with a variety of electronic subsystems that make carrying out scouting and reconnasissance much easier to do, including an integrated Comlink for sending messages, a Comm Unit Scrambler and Voice Scrambler to ensure said messages remain confidential and a set of Retractable Macrobinoculars, which can be used to view distance objectives from kilometers away while also being able to "ping" and identify specific targets and enemies.

Though highly valuable in their assigned role, Mandalorian Recon Helmets are especially vulnerable to EMP and ION based attacks, due to the amount of sensitive electronics that each helmet carries, and can potentially turn their users into high value targets due to the amount of data that can be stored on each helmet's Datacard. Nonetheless, the advantages of wearing such a helmet far outweigh the risks associated with wearing one, and Gel hopes that the helmet will begin to see use among the Iron Covenant sometime in the near future.
