- Black and red blade that sports an unusual profile compared to normal lightsabers.
- Bone inlay made from the tooth of the Krokros.
- Emits a strong red glow from within the black core of the blade that gets brighter as the user channels the Dark Side.

Enhanced Protection: The hilt of Mandalore's Lament is made from multiple lightsaber-resistant materials, making it difficult to destroy with a lightsaber strike.
Raw cutting power: The combination of rare crystals used makes Mandalore's Lament an unnaturally strong blade, with it's cutting power further enhanced by the unique blade profile.
Bound as One: Mandalore's Lament is bound to Khamul's very essence, allowing him greater focus for channeling the Force as long as he is wielding it.

Other Threats: Though the blade and hilt are stronger than your average lightsaber, Mandalore's Lament is still weak to certain types of damage, such as corrosive materials and EMPs.
Tricky Maintenance: The crystals used in this blade, while powerful, can be unstable in unskilled hands. Should the hilt be damaged, the time, effort, and skill it takes to repair it without a possibly fatal result is very intensive. Such repairs are not recommended, as they would be very, very dangerous.
Breaking the Bond: Due to the blade's bond with Khamul, he would likely suffer permanent, severe damage should the blade be completely destroyed.

The legend of the darksaber has been known to Mandalorians for thousands of years, and Khamul was no exception to this knowledge. He longed to find the legendary blade, searching across the vast reaches of the galaxy for the weapon of his people. Years were spent seeking the darksaber, but the search yielded no results. Over time, Khamul abandoned his quest, choosing to focus on his pursuits to unite the Mandalorians under his banner. As time went on, Khamul found himself joining the Warlords of the Sith, and through them, his destiny began to unveil itself as he crossed paths with the Brotherhood of the Maw. The Maw ended up providing him with the means to gather loyal Mandalorians to his banner, and gave Khamul the opportunity to finally leave his mark upon the greater galaxy. Nevertheless, despite this success, Khamul needed something to legitimize himself in the eyes of his people. He needed the saber.
Fortunately for Khamul,

Khamul began by disassembling his old lightsaber, removing the Krayt dragon pearl to use as a focusing crystal within the new saber. He added the crystal given to him by the Dark Voice, and through a long and laborious process, finally constructed his own version the darksaber. Into the blade Khamul poured every ounce of energy he could, truly attempting to bind the blade to him until the end of his days. It became a true symbol of his accomplishments, from the slaying of the Krokros upon the frozen ground of Helgard, to the Krayt dragon he had slain when he was not more than a student. It is a true extension of Khamul's soul, strength, rage, and malice. Now, he finally had a proper symbol to present to Sith and Mandalorian alike...
Thus, Mandalore's Lament was born.
