DESCRIPTION

Rather than a single corporate organization the Makesh Cartel is a cooperation of many Raykkan businesses. These range from military applications to infrastructure and even foodstuff companies. This allows the Makesh Cartel a wide variety in their dealing, but also leaves them more 'disorganized' and even cutthroat in its approach. Many of the Raykkans within the structure barely have any loyalty to the overarching company. All they desire is more power for themselves. They will do whatever needs to be done to accomplish this. Their standing increases by the amount of wealth they control and can distribute.

This ensures that the Makesh Cartel brand flourishes.

Outside of Raykka itself the Cartel usually employs representatives. These can be Raykkans who are more willing to deal with the outside world or species/people that are closely aligned to their interests.

Raykka - Their seat of power for centuries and even decades. Most of its industrial power and might comes from Raykka and the system it lies within. Many of its main businesses can still be found here, but with hungry eyes looking out into the Galaxy? Their holdings are slowly increasing outside of their homeworld. Even still. Raykka remains as the main administrative and organizational location. Every decision, small or large, will often find its way through the greasy halls of its industry.

Nar Shaddaa - One of the first forays into the chaos of the Galaxy was Nar Shaddaa. A world which many Raykkans immediately took a liking to. The corruption was grand, the greed sickening and there was a sore need for those with vision. A water filtration and sewage plant were the first pieces to fall into place for them. Where most focused on chemicals, illegal mods and the sort, the Raykkans were always interested in the.... basic needs of life. Nobody survives without water. Especially not on a completely urbanized moon. What better way to integrate themselves into the world, than by improving on a need?

Maena - The Lower 50 of New City was home away from home for the Raykkans. A place for the working being, blue collar, focused primarily on the basic needs that any sentient might need... it was an expansion of their focus on Nar Shaddaa. They quickly found their niche in the New City. Doing what they do best. Apply their brutal sense of efficiency and corporations to minimize the waste... maximize the profits and output.

Coruscant - An alliance of sorts had been created between a certain doctor and the Raykkans of Raykka through an intermediary. The connection is thin, elusive, but every once in a while it can become useful. Usually when one party needs something... that only the other side can get. To assist with this the Makesh Cartel has established itself in one of the industrial zones of the Center Core planet. There the indentured workers slave away to create numerous, more acceptable, appliances for the Cartel. Through this it also serves as an efficient communication hub between it and its allies.

Lydrax - A world of waste, toxins and garbage. Few sentients could survive there. Naturally the Raykkans had been immensely pleased with it. Sadly, they came in contact with it through another connection. A Sith Lord of Secrets, not that they were aware. She wished them to turn the toxic world into something more... productive for her goals. The Raykkans were somewhat peeved with the request. But the prospect of the price was enough to soothe their concerns. They were awarded a quarter of the world. Where the toxins were free to reign and where they could establish a colony of industry of their own.

Raxus Prime - Another garbage world. Thankfully this one could remain as it was. The Makesh Cartel managed to force their way into one of the salvage operations run by a large guild based off the planet. The Raykkans could be persuasive when they needed to be. They control one of the larger space ports on the southern continent, together with the salvage rights of the underlying and surrounding wastefields.

Voss - Biodiversity. That much the Cartel were aware of. Once the Sith Empire subjugated the world, letting the Gormak rule as its overlord, the Raykkans were able to begin their own operations. They paid their tithes, but no longer needed to concern themselves with the prophetic Voss. The rare vegetation would be harvested, before being transported to the dedicated station orbiting the world.

Dellalt - On this world the reputation of the Raykkans was remembered. The Dark Lord himself asked for their assistance to subjugate the world. They were made governors of the planet and promptly began exploiting it in the vein of Raykka. The oceans were seeded with industrial platforms that dug deep into the water levels. There they mined for valuable minerals, organisms and even began the capture of its natural wildlife.

RATIONALE

The Makesh Cartel is Raykka.

Or close enough anyway.

While this is usually means that the state owns the Cartel.... this is not the case here. Raykka, in essence, does not have a state. Not a ruling government that dictates all. True to form the Raykkans have instead elevated the holy currency as a rule. Might makes right. As a result the Makesh Cartel has risen up as one of the dominant organizations on the planet. Most of the industry is dominated by their corporations, their stakeholders being some of the richest Raykkans of the planet. This pure fixation on wealth and power have allowed them to thrive across the Outer Rim.

When they finally got over themselves and considered it relevant anyway.

With many of the Raykkans employed in the Cartel (if they want an easy path to power, which most of them want) its reach throughout the Galaxy increases day by day. Raykkan by Raykkan.

Such is the way of the Cartel.
