The Sovereignty

Name: The Sovereignty
OOC Hierarchy:
IC Hierarchy: The Sovereignty, as a government has its external and internal affairs handled by different bodies - The Sovereign, who also serves as the Head of State and ultimate authority within the Sovereignty is charged with handling things externally; matters such as times of war, diplomacy, expansion of territory and so on. This comes from the Sovereignty's first formation, and it is agreed by the people that a decisive and firm hand is needed for dealing with outward threats. The Army, Navy and Office of Naval Intelligence all fall under the jurisdiction of the Sovereign.

For the internal affairs and governing on matters that concern most people's average lives, the Senate, with its head the Archon, is in control of such things. The Senate has representatives from every world, species or specific region or seperated culture within Sovereignty space, who are voted in as part of a group before being given rigorous tests to determine the actual successful candidate.
Requested Hexes:
  • Eadu (Capital)
  • Formos

Description: As the galaxy began to rage in war and fuel the fires of bloodshed and conflict, it was more than once that innocents were caught inbetween. Those simply trying to make a life were often swept up in conflicts they didn't understand or want, whether being conscripted to fight, having their homes razed or their families taken from them. Fleeing the Great Galactic War, many went to one of the few refuges left - Wild Space.

It was there that many grew to understand that they didn't appreciate the law and order they'd grown so used to. Vicious pirates and all manner of strange and dangerous creatures stalked the hyperlanes and forgotten worlds of Wild Space, and many settlements found themselves victim to regular attacks or threats of total destruction. Nearing the brink of what they could take, settlements banded together to send out distress signals.

They were answered by a ragtag fleet of former soldiers, crewmen and smugglers who banded together to defend them, under one man. Soon after they chased off pirates and trained settlements to defend themselves against animal attacks, the settlements and their new protectors joined into one, seeing strength and safety in their newfound unity. Amongst all the people, they agreed that out in this hard part of space, they would need a decisive, single ruler.

This decision led to the coronation of the first Sovereign, Varik Ice. Soon, he formed a Senate and properly organized military, based on the planet of Eadu. The Sovereignty is a nation that is heavily propagandized, the military above all else celebrated as heroes and celebrities; full citizenship is not guaranteed without either significant contribution to the Sovereignty or two years in civil service. Though this can be in many different roles, military occupations are the most encouraged.

As the Sovereignty continued to develop and its people began to show force-sensitive talents, it was deemed that they would be treated regularly as other citizens, and beliefs about the force were included under the Sovereignty's freedom of religion. The Sovereign however, saw potential and has began work on something more organized for those who use the force within The Sovereignty.

The people of the Sovereignty believe that they have the best way of life through their 'Managed Democracy' under their benevolent Sovereign, and most support spreading it throughout Wild Space, to bring the happiness and security to the lives of others that they have also experienced.

The Pitch: The Sovereignty, as a faction offers roleplay to a diverse cast of writers and characters - whether through serving in the Sovereign Army with their flowing capes and hero worship, the differing atmosphere than can be found through the professionalism and efficiency of the Navy, or the subterfuge and ruthlessness of ONI.

Beyond roleplay within military or intelligence agencies, the Sovereignty has options for those looking to play more diplomatic or politically-minded characters through the Sovereign Senate and the Sovereign Diplomatic Corps. For those who are more freeform, rebellious or simply credits-inclined, we have the Corsairs as a sponsored option for any Bounty Hunter, Hired Gun, Smuggler or other privateer.

We believe that we can offer not only these different experiences within the faction, but in the very unique setting of Wild Space; though the Sovereignty seeks to bring order to the chaos of this corner of the galaxy, Wild Space has always been a home to the weird, wonderful and some of the most intriguing worlds, species and locations in the galaxy. We as a faction want to bring life to those areas of space by not only expanding the amount of planets, species, locations and more but also through encouraging roleplay with these.

We are not a faction with a canon name or significant brand recognition, but we feel that this is an advantage, not a disadvantage; any member who joins with us has an opportunity to potentially make a mark on one of (hopefully) the Major powers of the galaxy, to help create a faction that truly belongs to its members and is a result of their contributions, rather than having to deal with any pre-conceived notions of how it should work.

I'd like to apologize for not checking out the faction, some things stole my attention away from this, but I want to offer Galderra Royal Treasury services, a T3 Company I'm prepared to take to 4. Going Major you may not need its service, but for Eddak and ensuring Galderra stays independent, he can't entirely join The Sovereignty. But he supports independence and freedom, and so he does support the Sovereignty and their mission. If you'd like a formal thread I'm welcome to start one

Interesting application.

One question if I may;
  • What is your faction's policy towards Force users? Do they have a formal role, an informal one, or are they banned?

Also let me know when you'd like me to put this up for a vote.

"Though the Force and its users are no differently treated than other citizens of the Sovereignty, that does not mean there isn’t space to use or learn about it; the Sovereignty offers freedom of religion and a myriad of other rights to its people, rights and ideals that it wishes to spread to others." ~ The Faction's Description.
