SPECIAL FEATURES

STRENGTHS

• Morale boost: The mere sight of these devices is often enough to boost friendly troop morale, regardless of their actual effectiveness
• Grounded: When installed directly into the ground, the Mahporeenian Lightning Collector is nearly immune to being destroyed from repeated lightning strikes

WEAKNESSES

• Large: Because it is a large piece of equipment, the Mahporeenian Lightning Collector can only be mounted on suitably large vehicles such as the AT-CT, the AT-SG and the AT-AAT.
• Niche: The Mahporeenian Lightning Collector has literally only one purpose, that being grounding and redirecting Sith Lightning away from ground troops.
• Imperfect: Because Sith Lightning is a force based attack, the Mahporeenian Lightning Collector may not be able to attract lightning strikes with perfect accuracy
• Vulnerable: Though these devices are designed to handle large amounts of electricity, they can get overwhelmed by repeated strikes and be destroyed when mounted onto vehicles

DESCRIPTION

As the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant continues its war against the Sith Order, it has run into a major battlefield obstacle that has been preventing Imperial Remnant forces from achieving lasting victories: Sith Lightning. Too often have the Sith rained their Sith Lightning down onto hapless Mahporeenian forces, causing major casualties and confusion while preventing the Imperial Remnant from responding in kind. In response to these developments, the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant has developed the Mahporeenian Lightning Collector.

Though it is conjured from the force, Sith Lightning is no different from atmospheric lightning in composition, and while it can be directed by the Sith, it must still obey the laws of physics. As such, the Mahporeenian Lightning Collector is designed to "attract" Sith Lightning by offering it the path of least resistance, as the device is partially constructed out of highly conductive Aluminium and Tungsten. Should the lightning hit the device, the Mahporeenian Lightning Collector can then redirect into the ground, keeping Mahporeenian forces safe.

When installed on a vehicle, the Mahporeenian Lightning Collector has an added bonus of providing a temporary "power surge" whenever it is hit by Sith Lightning, increasing the recharge rate of all onboard laser cannons. Of course, mounting these devices onto vehicles is far more risky then installing them directly into the ground, as they become far less efficient at grounding lightning. When vehicle mounted, they can be destroyed by repeated Sith Lightning strikes, though this does mean that the devices can be made mobile instead of statically sitting in one place.
