Lyt Saebr

Hotter than the average lightsaber

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum) :
Weakness 1: Lyt thrives on dark side energies and can't live in the peace and harmony it wants to see in the galaxy.
Weakness 2: Yuuzhan vong and Cortosis can basically just instantly "kill" it just by touch. It doesn't necessarily die, but it loses consciousness and its personality and reverts to being an infant crystal. As a result, it is terrified of these two things and runs away when they come near.
Weakness 3: Despite being attuned to the Force and knowing a great deal about various techniques, Lyt only knows how to use the Force to move itself, communicate, and see things that happen. While it does these Force techniques better than probably anyone else, it's a 3-trick-pony. Or would be, if it were a pony.
Weakness 4: It's not taken seriously by most creatures, who constantly objectify it and deny its personhood--or whatever personhood is called for objects. That said, those who presume to know its gender annoy it.
Weakness 5: Anyone could just take it apart and it would become just a crystal that floats and talks, so it is reluctant to allow anyone to repair it. It doesn't trust.
Weakness 6: Anything that destroys a lightsaber can potentially destroy it. All the usual things, like explosions or corrosive gas, are just as deadly to it as the average jedi bear.
Strength/Weakness: Being a lightsaber attuned to the Force, it has absorbed knowledge of lightsaber forms from observing students over the years, making it an excellent swordsm-- swordswom-- swordspers-- sword. And excellent sword. However, it knows no killing blows and is reluctant to even harm an enemy, preferring to spar, instead.
Strength 1: Very, very good at predicting moves in combat and knowing when to run away.
Strength 2: Can deflect blaster bolts easily.
Strength 3: Easy to miss because it's tiny.
Strength 4: A paragon of its species, it's hotter than the average lightsaber and knows it.
Strength 5: It never sleeps or gives up. It will never tire as long as there are dark forces about. That sounds heroic, but it's just a statement of its physics.

APPEARANCE:
A cylinder of carbon composite metals encases Lyt's true body, but he considers this a part of him as well. Sometimes, he is also a long red beam on top of the cylinder. He has neither hands nor legs. But he is also embodied in the Force. A clumsily-made and outdated model lightsaber with not even dual-phase capability.

BIOGRAPHY:
Some spoilers from the Young Jedi series and the YV regarding a certain poorly-lit academy and another academy that just kept on movin'.
Lyt was created, allegedly via Sith alchemy but actually just by normal reproduction, by a human junior athletics instructor at the Shadow Academy, Jan Jansen, who had been kicked out before the academy's destruction for harboring too strong of an anti-alien sentiment and being so weak in the Force that he barely registered as sensitive. Eager to prove himself and his race superior to the other Dark Jedi, Jan concocted a plan to develop the supreme lightsaber crystal. Combining a shaving of Nakfet crystal with a synthetic red khyber crystal and then embedding it in a lightsaber, Jan was about to present his "work" as his own when he'd heard the station was destroyed.
Ironically, Lyt's "work" was a success to some degree. The resultant crystal fed on dark side energies and the blade was perfectly functional to boot. However, with no shadow academy to return to, Jan had few prospects. Returning, with Lyt in tow, to his community to beg for forgiveness, Jan was mostly censured by his peers and his lightsaber, the true nature of which he'd hidden, was confiscated. Years later, a traveling Jedi recruiter, sensing the blade's potential, took it away to be stored safely in a library of dark side artifacts at the Jedi academy, where it remained, undisturbed, until the destruction of that temple by the Yuuzhan Vong.
Sensing its impending doom, Lyt found it could use the Force and lifted itself to safety as a stowaway aboard a fleeing ship. This largely exhausted it and it was forced to just lay idle on the ship, but the ship eventually brought Lyt to the new home of the Jedi, Ossus, where the occasional dark energies would feed Lyt and it had much more social input.
For almost a hundred years, it would eventually gain enough potential energy to have its own life. Having internalized the teachings of the Jedi, and with the massacre at Ossus underway, Lyt tried to stow itself aboard another ship. This turned out to be a poor choice, however, as the ship was destroyed.
Lost in space for centuries, Lyt did nothing much but listen to musical broadcasts while it waited for any sentient being at all to fly near enough to it for Lyt to call for aid.
Merely because it fed on dark side energies did not make it evil, however. It believes in the mission of the New Jedi Order. But it cannot exist in times of peace and goodness, as it requires being in the presence of the occasional strong dark-side energies to remain conscious.
