First contact with outsiders occurred less than a century ago when a Jedi archaeological mission crash-landed on the planet during a hyperspace misjump. While the Jedi were rescued and eventually returned to the Order, stories of Lykora's meditative landscapes and latent Force presence spread quietly among explorer circles.

A few Jedi have since chosen to train among the Makurians, adopting their worldview and learning from their connection to nature. One such individual is Rikuan, a Makurian Padawan who was taken into Jedi training as a child after demonstrating a rare sensitivity to the Force. Despite his relocation, he remains a cultural bridge between his people and the Jedi Order. He is the first of his people to join the Order.
