SPECIAL FEATURES
Essentially a larger, starship-scale version of the Equilibrium's stun tentacles, the LPW is designed for one thing: taking a vessel's crew alive while dealing minimal damage to the actual vessel.
The system consists of long, retractable metal cilia, fitted with stun projectors and capable of startling individual dexterity. These are normally folded safely into the parent vessel to prevent damage, but when activated can unfurl to a maximum length of nearly 500m.
Each tendril can additionally split the last 25m or so of its length into numerous smaller, finer subcilia for more delicate manipulation. In the center of these subcilia is a toothless, grasping maw, designed to "eat" captured prisoners, transporting them up the tendril's hollow length and into its parent vessel's cargo hold.
Under ideal circumstances, these tendrils' purpose is a savagely simple one: reach into the hull of crippled vessels and extract the crew alive.
A crew under attack by a Cnidaria system can generally expect nothing less than a rapid descent into nightmare. Stalked through the halls of their own vessel by the grasping arms of a slaver vessel, it is a rare voidsman capable of maintaining their composure.
If attacked, the tendrils respond by simply battering or lashing their assailant. The arms' delicate appearance and smooth movements bely their bone-shattering strength, and they are well equal to the task of overpowering most resistance they might encounter inside a ship's corridors. Each is capable of peeling open blast doors, cracking hardened armors, or making its own doors and tunnels as it quests throughout a ship in search of prey.
Of course, the blood-hungry arms cannot penetrate energy shielding. They can only harm a ship whose shields are already disabled in the first place. When faced with interior ray shielding, they must either find a way to disable them, or find a way around.
