SPECIAL FEATURES
- Even more so than its predecessor, the IBIS, a LORAN recon drone has an extensive suite of sensors and scanners that allow it to collect as much information as possible for their users.
- Much like the IBIS, a LORAN is small and light enough that it can be carried on the back plate of any Aurora Industries armors or even within a large backpack or satchel.
- The introduction of a Karn Cognitive Module allows the LORAN faster processing power and heuristic learning that can allow it to perform its functions for its user better.
- LORAN recon drones are equipped with an extensive internal suite of sensors and scanners that allow them to collect as much information about environments and terrain, enemy force composition and positions, lifeforms, resource deposits, and other tactical or exploratory data. This data can be streamed directly back to a user's HUD or to other computer systems for real-time processing and analysis.
- As an upgrade over the IBIS, LORAN drones have integrated defensive systems and light armoring that can protect them from energy and ionic weaponry, along with environmental conditions and elemental-based weaponry.
- Each LORAN drone is small enough that a soldier or explorer can carry the drone on an Aurora Industries-approved or created armor system or backpack.
- Like the IBIS, a LORAN drone does not have any offensive weaponry installed within its chassis, nor can it be installed on any external hardpoint. The drone has to rely upon its defenses and propulsion systems when engaged by enemy forces or hostile lifeforms.
- Corrosive and sonic weaponry can easily damage or destroy a LORAN drone, with sonic weaponry additionally being able to scramble several of its sensors and scanners until they can be repaired.

The first droid created by Aurora Industries' URZA Initiative was determined to be an upgrade to the company's popular IBIS recon drone. Developed at the company's Borealis Complex on Saleucami, the new drone, designated the LORAN, had its extensive integrated sensor and scanner suite further expanded with new targeting sensors and environmental scanners from the IBIS, along with new upgrades to the drone's photoreceptor and its integrated lenses. The new Karn cognitive module was installed to allow a LORAN faster processing speeds and heuristic learning to better carry out its functions and missions.
As a major upgrade to the IBIS, a LORAN drone has new defensive systems that, while not on par with Aurora armor and shielding systems for combat models of droids or vehicles, give it plenty of protection from energy and ionic weaponry, along with environmental conditions and element-based weaponry such as flamethrowers or cryogenic weapons. The drones are also equipped with new encryption systems to better protect its communications with its operator or primary base.
Like all Aurora Industries' field support drones, a LORAN can be carried within a back plate storage and charging dock on Aurora Industries-designed armors or other backpacks that the company has approved for its technologies.
