Looking for some assistance!

I am terrible at image editing and was hoping to get some help with some things for this character. If someone would be willing to it'd be greatly appreciated!

Hoping to turn this image into a signature; add techy border around it and "DAK" in some sort of large, robotic-looking font at the bottom left. Maybe a cool gif effect over the image to make it interesting but I'm not too worried about that.

Also looking to have the white background removed from this next image. I tried to do it in Paint.NET but the result was pretty mediocre. I know it's pretty easy to do, I just don't have Photoshop on my comp anymore.
