Interest Check: One Ship, One Crew, Endless Trouble
I've been kicking around an RP idea and wanted to see if anyone would be interested.
The concept is simple: one ship, one crew, one shared story.
Think Star Wars with the spirit of Firefly—a tight-knit band of drifters, outlaws, hired guns, mechanics, ex-soldiers, runaways, and hopeful nobodies trying to survive on the fringe of the galaxy. Not a grand military campaign. Not Jedi councils and Senate chambers. Just a crew aboard one ship, flying from job to job, trying to make enough credits to keep the engines running and stay one step ahead of their enemies, their debts, and their own bad decisions.
I'm imagining a story built around:
A lived-in ship that becomes the crew's home
Strong character dynamics between crewmates
Jobs gone wrong
Smuggling, bounty hunting, salvaging, escort work, shady deals
Imperial scrutiny / criminal syndicates / local troubles
Found-family vibes
Tension, loyalty, betrayal, humor, danger, and heart
The goal would be a more character-driven ensemble RP, where everyone plays someone with a role aboard the same vessel. That could mean captain, pilot, mechanic, medic, mercenary, slicer, con artist, fugitive, former Imperial, failed Jedi, Mandalorian drifter, gambler, stowaway—whatever fits the tone and helps create a messy, compelling crew.
What interests me most is the idea that the ship itself becomes the center of the story. The crew eats together, argues together, bleeds together, and survives together. Some episodes would be small and personal. Others could spiral into full-on disasters. One bad cargo pickup, one betrayed deal, one passenger with the wrong enemies, and suddenly the whole crew is in over their heads.
Tone-wise, I'd love something that can balance:
grit and danger
humor and banter
action and downtime
character secrets and slow-burn trust
Basically: space western energy, but fully rooted in Star Wars Chaos.
I'm not looking to copy Firefly directly, just use that kind of crew-based storytelling as inspiration and translate it into the Star Wars underworld/fringe setting.
If there's interest, we could start by figuring out:
what kind of ship it is
who owns or captains it
tone we want
what kinds of jobs the crew takes
what roles are still open aboard the ship
Mostly I want to know: would anyone be interested in writing as part of one shared ship crew?
For me, i can create a new character to fit any role. I just want to see who is interested and what roles they would like to fill.
