OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Intent: Create a resource/setting for scavengers and those who are looking for impossible to find... well... junk.
Image Source: modified from https://ngplusblog.wordpress.com/2013/07/26/concept-art-roundup-assassins-creed-iv-black-flag-starcraft-ii-game-of-thrones-and-more/

SETTING INFORMATION
Name: Long Abandoned Junkyard
Classification: Junkyard
Location: a remote region of Zonju V (however, this is generic enough to retrofit into any suitably remote location)
Affiliation: none
Accessibility: The Junkyard is in a remote, desolate, very inhospitable area but is otherwise easily accessible

Description: Hulking wrecks of spacecraft rust alongside ancient droids in an acres wide swath of junk. Artificial mountains, valleys, and canyons lead the curious ever on. With the newest scrap on the surface, the junkyard actually continues downward for hundreds, if not thousands, of feet. The deeper one digs, the older and more decrepit the junk one finds. A haven of scavengers, the junkyard is home to any mechanical artifact one can imagine. Whether that artifact is still in usable condition is another matter altogether.

POINTS OF INTEREST
The Junkyard has the nearly organic trait of constantly evolving. The looming remains of a star destroyer could serve as a landmark for decades before collapsing into an unrecognizable pile of rubbish. Transients often build lairs in abandoned wrecks, only to lose track of those wrecks as the metal dunes shift. Although identifiable "points of interest" come and go, The Warren remains. The Warren is an ever shifting maze of "rooms" and "corridors" running through the upper layers of the Junkyard. It is fairly easy to find individual "rooms" formed from debris, or even an actual room from a broken starship, it is much more difficult to find an entrance to The Warren. Entrances, corridors, and rooms are constantly being created and destroyed as rusted hulks collapse, opening new areas while closing old ones.

SECURITY
none... although IF a random group/creature/etc were to take up temporary residence, there could be some surprises set up

History: A long forgotten war left its detritus here and, rather than try to clean up the mess, the locals added their own junk to the pile. This continued for centuries until the local population moved away leaving behind a mechanical graveyard. Periodically, a group of bandits or other ne'er-do-wells move in and use this labyrinthine waste as a base or hide-out. Invariably, these groups soon move on to more pleasant environs. It is often rumored that some nefarious organization such as the Cult of Ragnos roams the junkyard but these rumors are never verified.

I have moved this submission to the pre-codex for you. The codex is for completed submissions. Please make sure that your submission has all the sections of the template, which can be found here, and then tag a member of Codex staff to move the submission back into the codex for judgement.

Hello there! :) I'm Scherezade and I'll be working with you on this submission. You've set up some seriously nice foundations and I can see that you intend on building up from and for this, but we just need to flesh it out a tiny bit more first.

There is one thing though that I absolutely need you to do before that, and that's to fix the image source:
The image source should not be a link to the image itself, but rather, to a page on which the image can be found. A wookie page, an artist's page, or others. I've used reverse search and found you a source right here. Unless you have something you'd prefer lined up, you could just edit that in there :)

The next of what I'm about to write are suggestions. This means that you do not have to make edits as per them, but making these edits will help your submission really shine and pop more.

  • You can feel free to remove any mentions of see below. We read every word on submissions multiple times so we won't be missing information. Interested readers will also be reading everything :)
  • Your description is really great! But this is why I can't help but wonder why you have nothing for the Points of Interest. For example, I would love it if you could list things out of the description such as specific ranges of mountains, areas with special sort of junk, maybe even special junk neighborhoods that might have evolved over time, even a place where scavengers prefer to meet and trade, and I'm sure that there is a lot more that can be added even now, prior to expanding this place via RP.
  • The history could also do with some expanding. For instance, did anyone ever attempt to close the yard down? How has the junk changed over the centuries/millennia? Were there ever any important events to note that occurred in or around the yard?
These would make some good starting points but once again I repeat, you do not have to add that in unless you want to. The only thing I really need from you is the image source edit.

Once you've done the edit or edits, please reply to this thread and tag me again so I can come take a look :) If you need any help with this, myself and the rest of the Codex staff are available to you.

Thank you for the kind words but I know I'm not a very good writer. I do have some good ideas, I just have difficulty getting them into writing. critique and suggestions are always welcome!

I have fixed the image link.

All of your suggestions are great. I actually had a much more developed Junkyard originally in mind but I'm thinking I'd like to leave it very generic so that is could evolve, or wither away, that much easier. I did add in a bit about one point of interest that may prove useful however.

Thanks again.

Hey [member="Felix DuChat"], your writing is great, I promise :) This is either your first or one of your first submissions and creating these get easier with time. Heck, I'm experienced and I still get suggestions. I really wouldn't worry about it ♥

Your addition to the points of interest is awesome, and I hear you about wanting to let it develop a bit first before adding other things.

Submission approved :) Have fun with your junk yard!
