DESCRIPTION

An unusual weapon, the Falcata is something of a tactical middle ground between repeating blasters and blaster cannons.

Small enough to be carried and utilized by a single droid, it is nonetheless a bulky, heavy weapon, and accuracy will suffer severely if the user attempts to fire it without a firm stance, a tripod mounting, or simply bracing it against cover.

When used properly however, the results can be spectacular. Possessing something of the rate of fire of a repeater with the small blast radius of a proper blaster cannon, this weapon propels a slow but steady hail of armor-cracking projectiles. While undoubtedly effective against all but the most densely-armored infantry, it is also capable of attacking and damaging vehicles. Such is the explosive impact of the projectiles that tank operators would be wise to watch out for these weapons, as they are just compact enough to be concealed in ambush.

Worse yet, the projectiles themselves are quite radioactive, and will burst in a shower of toxic shrapnel upon impacting a solid surface. As such, the LMR can seamlessly transition between suppressing infantry to putting holes in tanks, though it is somewhat less effective at either role than a specialized anti-infantry or anti-tank weapon would be. This versatility is perhaps the weapon's greatest asset, as there are few targets on a battlefield that it cannot prove at least moderately threatening to. It can even be a danger to starfighters and landing craft, as its considerable range and destructive potential can render landing zones dangerous to utilize.
