DESCRIPTION
As the Stygian Campaign ended in failure, the Galactic City Authority, the governing body of Coruscant, recognized the potential threat that the Alliance's withdrawal invited. With Coruscant having been sacked time and again, the time had come to see a reinvigoration of the Coruscant Guard, and the Home Defence Fleet. While both institutions existed, in some form or another, they lacked the funding and manpower that was needed to make them a credible fighting force. In many respects, these brave Coruscanti were simply a glorified Security Force that maintained Law and Order in the Outer System edges. But, with the right approvals and Senatorial support, the Galactic City Authority sought to change what such a time-honoured organization had become - bringing both iterations of the CorGuard and the Home Defence Fleet back to their militant roots.

Thus, the GCA turned to the Republic Engineering Corporation to commission a new line of warships for the Coruscanti Defence Force. They needed something that would make them stand apart from their cousins in the Galactic Alliance - rather than repatriating their own warships with what amounted to their own hard-earned Credits. And so, the Shipwright eagerly threw themselves at the drawing board - seeking to not only make their vessels visually distinct, but play upon that believed nostalgia factor many within the Alliance were fond of. That proverbial quest led them to the ancient series of vessels that once dominated the Coruscanti skies. While the origin of their design was lost to the pages of time, the venerable Valour - Class Cruiser bore the hallmarks that implied they were berthed from Rendili Facilities.

However, as one can fathom, those ancient designs wouldn’t fare so well against their more modern iterations. The sheer difference in power-scaling, as well as circuitry and protective measures was an enormous gulf that none could truly ever match without an extensive overhaul to bring them up to current galactic standards. But, like the specialty designs that came before this newest refurbishment, the Valour - Class would find itself wholly gutted from tip to tail, and replaced by the most bleeding-edge of technologies. Ancient power sources were replaced with compact and miniaturized variants that housed an astronomical amount of power within their metallic husks. The same tender care and attention was given over to whatever weaponry populated the outer hull and internalized junctions as well, due to their lethality barely being enough to scratch the paint on modern warships.

When several of the systems were replaced, the Coruscanti Shipwright began focusing on not only making their warship a competitive alternative when compared to modern starships, but sought out ways to make them better as well. This quest, as it were, led them towards utilizing advanced and unconventional weaponry - such as shielded concussion missiles and pulse cannons. Through those weapons alone, the newest iteration of the Valour - Class would be a potent adversary to any smaller craft that sought to strike at the vital portions of the CorGuard’s newest warship. The brilliant tracking functionality made those ‘advanced’ concussion missiles a nightmare to any pilots who held the esteemed honour of being targeted by their destructive fury. That wasn't to mention the difficulties they’d face in navigating through a nigh-ceaseless storm of plasmatic orbs - capable of untold destruction.

From there, the Cruiser was outfitted with several batteries of plasmatic and ionized weaponry - both in their standard classifications and their heavier variants. With both of those versions, alongside a comprehensive warhead projection suite - the newest iteration of the Valour - Class starship was a force to be reckoned with. However, the starship’s lethality didn’t end there. A small selection of heavy turbolasers that were fitted to the Bow-section were enhanced by a collection of rare Agrocite crystals, which dramatically increased the paired cannon’s lethality, and allowed for this warship to punch above its weight-class. It even held the potential of utterly vapourizing smaller vessels in a single volley, should the fixed weaponry be lucky enough to strike true.

With such awesome and destructive power in hand, the Valour - Class was henceforth renamed the Lionheart. Not only because it carried forth the legacy of the Starship it was wholly based on, but at the noble temperament such a vessel held, despite its unmatched lethality in the realm of spatial combat.
