TECHNICAL INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • LIKON durability: LIKON values toughness and durability, reflected in redundant systems, additional bracing, fusion welded plating, and magna bolted seals. LIKON products are typically known to be able to take hits and keep on functioning.
  • LIKON universality: LIKON specifically designs its systems with a minimum of moving parts, and with as much universal access as possible to allow for a seamless and pain-free maintenance cycle. It is exceptionally easy to repair and maintain this item.
  • LIKON efficiency: this droid is optimized to slowly and gradually become more and more efficient due to an integrated heuristic processor.
STRENGTHS
  • (+) Master assembler: the SM-BL assembly droid is designed to be hardwired into place above an assembly line belt. Exceptionally fast, the droid is capable of carrying out numerous operations in the span of a few seconds; each droid packs numerous tools into each of its manipulator arms, meaning that a handful of SM-BLs can replace dozens of individual pieces of equipment on the line. Ultimately, the SM-BL is capable of vastly shortening assembly lines and greatly increasing efficiency.
  • (+) Repetitive learner: the SM-BL is equipped with a mid-grade heuristic processor, which, while underwhelming on any other droid, is perfect for a droid that will repeat singular tasks millions of times across its operational life. The SM-BL excels at finding faster and more efficient ways to construct items on the assembly line.
WEAKNESSES
  • (-) Completely immobile: the SM-BL is completely immobile, and is hardwired into place above the assembly belt. If the droid faces any danger whatsoever, it's a sitting target.
  • (-) Full stop: if a SM-BL unit needs repair, it means that the entire assembly line must be shut down and halted due to being hardwired in place. If a series of units fall into disrepair or are disabled, it can mean taking entire factories offline.
DESCRIPTION
The SM-BL industrial assembly line droid is LIKON's answer to creating a more efficient and streamlined assembly process.

Hardwired directly above or within close proximity to conveyance belts, the SM-BL is intrinsically connected to the factory it has been installed in by a photonic cable hardline. This line serves as the SM-BL's link to factory computers, where it can be programmed and uploaded with schematics of the items it is tasked with building. Likewise, this allows the SM-BL to be rapidly programmed to assemble a large spectrum of items varying in complexity, from blasters to starfighters, droids to computer cores, and everything between.

Each SM-BL is equipped with four large manipulator arms with variable tool heads and high-speed precision servomotors; the SM-BL can rapidly move and rotate parts all the while shifting between various tools as needed. This allows the SM-BL to rapidly and precisely do the same work as dozens of single purpose machines, all within the space of several seconds - SM-BL units are generally worth roughly thirty meters of unspecialized line space when compared to standard factories. SM-BL units thus vastly shorten assembly lines and greatly increase efficiency by doing the same amount of work of a larger collection of machines in a shorter span of time.

Rounding out the SM-BL is its short-range, high-powered, precision industrial scanners which allow for pinpoint precision manufacturing, molecular welding, circuit testing, and constant quality checking for defects. These scanners constantly check not only the droid's current work, but all prior work to internal schematics, virtually guaranteeing no defects and pristine quality. Working in tandem with these scanners and schematics is a mid-grade heuristic processor. While very underpowered for virtually any other droid, this processor is perfect for a droid that will repeat singular tasks millions of times across its operational life, such as the SM-BL. The SM-BL excels at finding faster and more efficient ways to construct items on the assembly line, and can integrate this data into its own operating system, as well as send the data back to a factory's central computer to be dispersed as a general update for all SM-BLs on the line.
