Really edgy
Complacency was the greatest sin that could befall any force in the Galaxy.
Now this is not to call the forces of the Confederacy complacent, no, they were not complacent as their droids marched to the far recesses of the Galaxy to assail their foes. They were offensive. So much violence was spread outward of the the growing blob of planets situated in the Galactic south, and even with the arrival of mysterious ancient Capital Ships trying to assail distant Kamino, or insurrection and violence on Doldur that had seen their finest sent to have it crushed. No, the Confederacy was not complacent. But the grounds were laid for a mighty metaphorical lake of relaxation, and soon pebbles would be thrown into the soothing waters and the ripples would be felt.
Such pebbles were impossible to notice aboard the Luxury Liner Distant Stars, an impressive ship: it’s hull a fine white color, as though it had been freshly painted just before embarking on it’s journey. The interior lavious enough to support those it held, the elite and the rich: Viceroyalty, Business Owners, and anything else that could fall in between such a wide margin of the rich and powerful. But of course, leaving so many easy to dislike eggs in one pretty Liner was a poor idea. Security forces drawn from the various military and generally “destroy things” minded organizations within the Confederacy: couldn’t quite be quite that incompetent to leave the beloved politicians and pillars of industry undefended right?
The Distant Stars was not quite a boring assignment though, if you enjoyed the finer things that the wealthy liked to busy themselves with. In the recesses of the impressively sized vessel there existed booze galore, small and far too lavish balls, a small opera chamber. Truthfully whatever one's mind could dream up was likely offered by this horribly expensive Liner (and to be frank, how many soldiers and the like could actually afford a place on such a vessel?). An aura of fun and good feelings filled the social gatherings within the vessel, and who could deny the enjoyment of a fine social gathering where people weren’t trying to fight?
Well.
No fighting yet.
For the Distant Stars had less savory eyes fall upon it, beady and hungry for the wealth of both passengers and cargo within. Pirates. Bold and brash pirates, a small fleet of vessels ready to jump onto the fat cow of a ship and take whatever their brutish hands could hold: and those within? None the wiser.
