In the video, Pan shows how he built the device, which comes with a nichrome ignition to propel the "light" and a syringe valve housed inside a 3D-printed enclosure. Add that to the methanol, acetone, and butane, and you have a mixture for lightsaber goodness.
While the device was able to push out a flammable "light," it lacked a core feature: the sound effect used when the lightsaber goes on. So, Pan added a button to the device that triggers the same sound effect.
Admittedly, the lightsaber Pan built is not on the same scale as the one in theaters, but it's still impressive. It's essentially a small flamethrower, and looks best in dark environments.
