  • Manufacturer: Party Favors, Cali Ziiva
  • Affiliation: Party Favors
  • Market Status: Closed-Market
  • Model: Lens Modulator Variant X (see below)
  • Modularity: Yes (upon creation)
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material: Various Crystals (e.g. Kyber)

  • Variable Activation | Each variant comes with their own modes, but the commonality is that different modes can be activated or deactivated without disassembling the lightsaber. Only if the Modulator's components and lens themselves need swapped for a different variant would reassembly be required.
  • Variant A | Variable Length Blade.
  • Variant F | Flat-blade Fan.
  • Variant G | Grounded Blade.
  • Variant P | Power Blade.
  • Variant S | Surgical Blade.

  • Construction | The effect of the Focusing Lens can often be combined with those bestowed by the Kyber or Kyber-like Crystal(s) of the lightsaber unless the abilities directly counter or nullify either or both.
  • Variant A | The blade can switch between shortened (shoto) and normal lengths much like a dual-phased lightsaber.
  • Variant F | When activated the blade fans out fifteen degrees at the point of origin resulting in a ten-inch wide tip at the end. This is often most useful against splash-damage weapons, especially those designed to overcome the narrow focus of a traditional lightsaber.
  • Variant G | Some material (e.g. cortosis) can short-out a lightsaber. This lens can distribute the effects of the feedback loop into a specialized energy sink to lessen and potentially negate the impact of such disruptive encounters.
  • Variant P | Using a reflecting chamber of sorts, multiple smaller lenses help bolster the output of the saber's crystal, which brings out the crystal's potential in producing a more powerful beam able to cut through materials traditional sabers would find difficult to otherwise.
  • Variant S | A highly focused or constrained lightsaber blade that is far narrower than a traditional one. Less material is damaged when used for cutting, and its smaller form may afford a slight advantage in combat as it deceives the opponent's eyes and is more controllable by the wielder.

  • Construction | Only one variant can be installed at a time due to the amount of space required within the hilt, and the increasing potential for a misalignment resulting from abuse or lack of maintenance.
  • Variant F | Due to the fanned out nature of the blade it can introduce a blind spot. It can also be unwieldy to those without proper training.
  • Variant G | Not everyone is independently wealthy enough to buy a cortosis blade, so it seems unlikely you would run into someone owning it; but Party Favors won't turn down your credits if this is what you're after.
  • Variant P | The module is able to withstand the abuse many sabers endure, but due to the increase number and smaller size of lenses this variant may be more susceptible to internal damage. A special kyber crystal should be paired with the lens to supply extra power; the lens will will focus and 'amplify' it to its true potential.
  • Variant S | An even lighter and thinner blade makes control all the more important to avoid unintentional damage.

The idea first came to Cali Ziiva of Party Favors when she was on Jedha where she was forced to defend herself against Sith. A lightsaber blade that didn't force the wielder to cause bodily harm would further the aim of a more civilized weapon, and so Variant R formed the basis of the Modulator design. It did take some time to perfect the mechanism that often swapped or altered the alignment or stack of lenses necessary to produce the desired result; once the technical challenges were dealt with, however, she realized a reversible blade wasn't the only option for the design.

While a Zeltron is the last to promote war, Cali recognized long ago that people need the means to defend their selves and those close to them. So developing this and other technology to provide people those means doesn't run afoul of her typical free-spirited, fun-loving attitude. That said, not being forced to hurt someone is definitely a plus in her book and influences many of her designs whenever possible.

This is just lovely, I especially appreciate the neat and informative manner in which so many alternate models were described. Out of all your variants, I dare say only the Variant P has the potential to be controversial; the wording's vague enough that I don't have a problem approving it, however.

Please keep in mind that "Fully constructed lightsabers and forcesabers are restricted to a maximum of Semi-Unique Production.", per the Technology Templates; not an issue with this submission, obviously, I just wanted it pointed out in case you decide to expand your catalogue with lightsabers.

Pending Approval.
