Strengths:

The energy output of the grenades don't come anywhere close fo a full blown wall of light, so its effects may be minimal, particularly against especially powerful Dark Side users. The grenade was designed for neutralizing trash mobs of Sithspawn like force-enhanced zombies.

Description:

As part of the effort to improve the equipment utilized by NFUs against hostile FUs, Arisa constructed a grenade that could be used against hordes of Sithspawn and other Dark Side entities en masse while also retaining its utility against various other personnel types. She came up with a simple solution of modifying a detonator with a durasteel shell for fragmentation. The inner lining of the shell was covered by a perforated layer of synthweave sourced from Sasori. Upon detonation, the synthweave layer fragments or is completely vaporized by the explosive charge along with the outer durasteel casing. The vaporized synthweave releases small bursts of light side Force energy, spreading outward with the explosion of shockwaves and shrapnel.

The combination of Force-imbued shrapnel and pure energy is especially damaging to Dark Side entities, capable of disrupting their ability to channel the Dark Side of the Force and interrupt related abilities as they are damaged on the metaphysical level, like accelerated regeneration. Dark side constructs created from pure energy can be destabilized or outright destroyed. For a few minutes, Dark Side energy is difficult to be channeled within the blast area of a previously deployed grenade.

Two main variants of the light grenade were created. A full sized, 40mm version that comes in the form of a hand grenade, or a shell fired from large grenade launchers or light artillery (e.g. mortars), and a 20mm micro-variant made specifically for smaller caliber launcher platforms like the Famos battle rifle. The micro-variant features an airburst function and an additional collapsium charge for focusing its comparatively smaller blast into a narrow cone for a shotgun-like effect. A sabot can be used for chambering the micro-variant in larger calibers like 30mm, but performance will be the same as if firing from a 20mm launcher. Several grenades of either variant can be loaded as submunitions for a large warhead or shell cartridge.

You are missing the Strengths/Weaknesses portion of the template. This also would fall under the category of a ranged weapon, so please add those portions of the template as well.

  • Remove the ability to cut the force from a dark sider
  • 20-30 posts of development required for the force light ability to disrupt a dark sider / hurt a dark sider
  • Reduce the development to semi-unique or limited.

The grenade doesn't cut off anyone for the Force, but with Force-imbued shrapnel lodged in their body, and an explosion to the face, it does make it harder to channel energy from the Dark Side. How much so depends on the power level of the affected Dark Sider/Spawn, and their injuries at the time. So for your top-tier Sith Lords at full health in class 10 armor, this will probably only translate into a slight tickle. I tried to emphasize in the strengths/weakness section that the Force effects of the grenade are pretty slight in comparison to a Wall of Light, made for taking out hordes of low powered sithspawn that even acolyte level Dark Siders have no problem summoning on here.

I can understand the concern for balance, but with the new amount of development now required on a nerfed item, I'd rather spend my time making something better. Go ahead and archive this.
