Development Thread(s): The Valhalla Federation meeting of the Guilds, Libertalia! Open House! Real Estate Pre-Sale! Open to all!

Description:
Libertalia is the brainchild of Ice. CEO of Shadow Tech Industries. He envisioned a place where he and his new friends in the Valhallan Federation could relax, and conduct business in safety and style. After calling a meeting with his new comrades. Designs and ideas were tossed around by many, until this finished station came into being. Libertalia is meant to be the main base of operations for the different guilds of the Federation. It is also a place for representatives of companies all over the galaxy to come and represent their products. In this way, the VF hope this place will bring credits, jobs, contacts, and equipment all to their fingertips. Not to mention, it's just a sweet place to relax and take a load off from our hard pirating days.

Valhalla Casino: Like all casino's, the one here sports something for everyone when it comes to gambling. Games from all over the galaxy were brought in to try and cater to as many clientele tastes as possible. If the game itself couldn't be brought, it was televised on the holoscreens located all over the establishment.

Pod racing, Swoop racing, Blob racing, Ratts racing, Nuna-Ball, and Odupiendo racing, are favorite sporting events shown on the holoscreens for people to take wagers on. Sabaac, Pazaak, Dejarik, Holochex, Digotto, Dueling Dice, Binspo, Compmatch, Denebian Holochess, Imperial Commander, Jubilee Wheel, and Zinbiddle where some of the tabletop games enjoyed by its patrons. While Tregald, and Lugjack rounded out some of the larger games and slot machines provided.

Shark Tank Cantina: This place boasts the galaxies largest collection of different alcohol types in a single location. It is also the stations largest club, with a large dance floor and stage for concerts and shows. There are plenty of booths nearby to relax off the dance floor and enjoy a drink. The food ain't half bad either. There are also a few quiet rooms for a more private party. Whatever it is you're looking for in a night out at a club. Shark Tank Cantina has probably got what you need!

Celestial Beauty and Health Spa: Here we are focused on giving you the perfect treatment. Experience pure relaxation, healing and wellness using therapies both ancient and ultra-modern. Our therapists and estheticians are above and beyond the best with tremendous experience, education, and integrity. Services include:

Messages: Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular, Reflexology, Hot Stone, Four Hand, Lomi Lomi, Lazy Man's Yoga, Ashiatsu, Swedish, Aroma Therapy, Bamboo
Facials: Deep Hydration, Cleansing – Peel, Exfoliation, Rejuvenation, Coffee
Beauty Treatments: Manicure, Pedicure, Salon, Skin Tone Correction, Make-up Artists, Microderm

Libertalia Shipyard: Although not the biggest shipyard in the galaxy by far. It is still large enough to hold a few ships up to 1,000 meters long. And many more of the smaller variety. Patrons near and far can come here to get repairs, modifications, and upgrades of any kind. No matter what the legality of those upgrades are elsewhere. The fact that most the stations visitors are the rich and famous has allowed the station to continue operating unhindered. Ships can also be bought and sold here. A no questions about ownership stance could be taken, but the shipyard will only purchase the ship for 20% of its market value, if this action is requested. Services include:

Ship repairs, modifications including, ship ID codes changed/erased, upgrades, ship design, small (50 meter or less) custom order new builds, and ships bought/sold.

The Four Lands: The majority of the top side of the station is divided into 4 distinct environment groups. The jungle environment, which recreates the picturesque jungle world of Naboo. The redwood forest environment which brings in the stunning beauty of Alderaan. The icy environment which seeks to capture the rugged and frigid worlds of Rhen Var and Hoth, and bring them to your fingertips. And finally the desert environment, which proves that even in arid worlds, beauty can still be found. In these different environments you will be able to fish, hike, explore beautiful ice caverns , race along our dirt road course in our provided dune buggies, rock climb, bungee jump, and much more.

The Federation Bank: A slightly more unusual service our visitors will find on board is the station's bank. If a client ever needs to hold something in a safe, secure, and private location. He/She may choose to rent out one of the banks many lock boxes, sure in the knowledge that nobody but them will ever be able to retrieve what was deposited. More standard services such as savings accounts, money market accounts, and cd's are also available. Apply within for the current rates.

The Wharf: This comprises the many shops and businesses that make up the stations trade hub. In keeping in line with the precedent set with the shipyard. Anything and everything can be purchased here despite the legalities of items elsewhere. Businesses from around the galaxy are able to rent out small to large office and shop spaces to represent their companies.

In addition to the many shops, the Wharf also holds many fine restaurants. Cuisine from all over the galaxy are almost certain to be found somewhere on the Wharf.

Water World: A galaxy class aquarium and water park is what is contained in this area. Hundreds of thousands of different types of fresh and saltwater lifeforms can be viewed in the thousands of tanks which snake around this section of the station. The many slides and other water attractions are also built side by side with these tanks to be able to fully immerse oneself in the underwater world.

Shooters Ridge: A shooting range for those that just can't seem to get enough of firearms in whatever form.

The Villas: This is how the whole ball of wax was even made possible. The monies garnered from the sale of these villas, funding the construction of the entire station. There are four tiers of villas. T1 = 1 Bedroom, T2 = 2 Bedroom, T3 = 3 Bedroom Villas, and T4 = 4 Bedroom Villas. These villas are spread out over 5 different areas. Each area offering a different view. Four, provided by the Four Lands, and the fifth by the Water World. If one does not wish to, or does not have the credits to purchase a villa. That person can simply rent out one of the many hotel rooms available for rent.

The Medical Ward: The richest patrons deserve only the best care. To this end, the medical ward was put in. It features some of the best medical care available in the galaxy. Truly, one could get just about any procedure done here.

Davy Jones Locker: Essentially this is the cargo hold which stores the factions vast wealth of weapons, gear, and monies. In times of major operations when the best of the best is needed, the men come here to suit up with what they need. Or store precious items that they have acquired.

The Coliseum: The Coliseum is where most of the stations punishments for broken laws are carried out. Granted in this place, there are precious few laws. However, when capital punishment is needing to be administered. It is done so as a show for the rest of the station to enjoy. The coliseum itself is a smallish circle dome, only about 50 meters in diameter. There are four doors that grant access to the main floor. One at each quarter section (North, South, East, and West). Surrounding the coliseum on the outside of the arena, are holding cages for various wild and dangerous animals of the galaxy. Meant of course to liven things up....so to speak.

Laws of Libertalia: There are very few laws here. All offenses result in the death penalty for most, eventually. This place is meant to be neutral ground for everyone in the galaxy to intermingle, relax, and possibly make business deals. Well, it is meant for the rich and famous to do so. In order to maintain the sense of security that the wealthy enjoy these extreme measures are in place:

Almost all acts that would normally constitute a crime in society in which only one person is involved in committing the crime, are punishable by slavery as a gladiator. The slave is to fight in scheduled death matches at the Coliseum. Fight well, and live. Fight poorly, and die.

Almost all acts that would normally constitute a crime in society in which two or more people are involved in committing the crime, are punishable by slavery as a gladiator. The slaves are to fight in scheduled death matches at the Coliseum. The difference here, is the first match which is to happen immediately after conviction, is the wrongdoers fight each other. Last man standing gets to continue living.

Fights that break out between individuals, instantly warrant a death match. The victors walk away free. Note: For those able to keep a level head long enough to report an offense to the authorities, a match in the arena will take place. However, it will be a fight till one yields and both will go free. Further hostility will result in a death match, and slavery as a gladiator for the victor.

Convicted murderers are to be sentenced to death. Instead of being pitted against a gladiator though, they will fight a randomly chosen wild animal till they are killed.

All gladiators fighting death matches, are given vibroswords to fight with. The only exception is convicted murderers and gladiators fighting till an opponent yields. They get to have no weapons other than their bodies.

First and foremost I need to address a few issues:
  • Please remove the location template, this does not belong here. You may sub for the location in the codex once this is approved, but it does not go in this submission.
  • Please expand upon the station's description, what you have provided is wholly inadequate (you can include the entire list of points of interest in this, that would certainly fill much of the information up).
  • Please pick a different name for this, as the purpose of this ship and the name as well as its intended audience create a vivid image of the Isle of Tortuga from Pirates of the Caribbean, and we do not allow any forms of plagiarism/copying.
  • I would like to see some sort of thread which includes the permission for you to use the Baktoid Industrial Systems company.
  • Any ship that exceeds the length of 2,400m requires a 30 post development thread with 3 writers minimum. Once you have finished the rest of the requests then we can properly address this with additions made based upon the description and features of this ship.

Tortuga is a physical place that has been around for hundreds of years in RL. If that is the stance you wish to take, then that city should sue the Pirates of the Carribean franchise. And this place is being built by pirates and mercs for pirates and mercs. So the name fit. Also there have been plenty of examples of how people are taking ideas from other things. Most notably of recent subs was Vulcan Industries, that made it through just fine some how. It is also standard fare here to use pictures for equipment, ships, stations, vehicles, locations, and a host of other items from many different franchises. And that is technically plagiarism, but allowed. I went ahead and changed the name, but would like to request you to reconsider. As it is not plagiarism at all.

The location sub bit has been removed.

The 30 post dev thread is nearly finished. I only need another five posts as a thread my faction was doing was already on this topic. I also went ahead and tagged Alli Wren so she can agree to building the station in an official thread. And not just OOC.

I would also like to see a general expected size (area) of the facilities in the description for each one. A rough estimate is all that is needed.

Also, will this development thread include permission to use Baktoid Industrial Systems as a manufacturer? (I just need to see some mention of it being done in their company, rather than STI.)

Approval With Development Thread
  • 30 post development thread with 3 writers with the lessening of size of the features within the station, as a shipyard of that size and the amount of amenities requested creates an issue with available room.
or
  • 40 post development thread with 3 writers. Simply add 10 more posts to the 30 posts you are currently working toward.
Edit: I will change the title of this submission to reflect the changes you have made to the name.

Edit: Pictures may be taken from any source, but taking a theme, a name, and then smacking a description/intent that seems wholly identical to that of a film's major location is an entirely different issue. If you name something Mjonir, make it a bow, and have absolutely nothing similar to the actual Mjolnir, there is likely to be no problem.

[member="Silara Vantai"] Since the size may not be big enough as you said. I simply increased the size of the station to better accommodate all that is there. So I'll work toward the 30 posts again, now that space is no longer an issue. :) Keep in mind too, that although this station is technically massive by its overall dimensions. It is mostly cavernous empty spaces. For instance, the shipyards which form a significant portion of the station is essentially nothing more than a honeycomb of large empty holes to allow for ships to be worked brought in and on.

What do you mean about Baktoid being mentioned and not just STI? STI doesn't have any hand in the construction. It is all Baktoid. That's why I put that company in the manufacturer slot. As for the thread. Yes. I have already posted my character sending baktoid a message inquiring of their interest. So Alli should be sending a response soon about their acceptance. She has already agreed OOC though.

Edit: The two major areas are the shipyard, and 4 lands + resort / villas. Below is a very basic picture of the top of the station. Which will encompass the 4 lands, and main buildings.

valhalla_federation_party_station_by_vlper777-d863bqu.png
This top area which comprises all of this is 4000x4000x350. The Shipyard which comprises the lower portion of the station is 4000x4000x1500. I do believe the rest of the space there is more than adequate to support, everything else.

Edit again: Also the cost of the station is going to be afforded, by the sale of many villas and offices to outside parties. Which I will posting a thread for as soon as this is approved.

Initial funding is being provided by STI, Cross Ikon's Novas, and Baktoid Industrial Systems. Confirmation of this is in the 40 post dev thread you also requested, here.

We will then sell a portion of the villas that are to be built. It is broken down in the following way:

(500) 1 bedroom condos @ 1 million credits each
(250) 2 bedroom condos @ 2.5 million credits each
(100) 3 bedroom condos @ 5 million credits each

This would be for each section (the four shown above as well as the water world villas for our more fishy clientele). So total condos for sale to the public would be:

(2,500) 1 bedroom condos = 2,500,000,000 credits
(1,250) 2 bedroom condos = 3,125,000,000 credits
(500) 3 bedroom condos = 2,500,000,000 credits

The proceeds of all sold condos would be 8,125,000,000 credits. I should think 5,125,000,000 credits should be MORE than enough to cover the cost of the station and the droids to support it. The remaining 3 billion credits would be divided equally between the three investor companies.

Thus the question of funding is solved. And the last of your concerns addressed. :)

I appreciate all of this math being done, really - I'm sort of into that kind of stuff, math is my game, and I am aware of the amount you need to break even in order to not have a loss for the first full quarter once it is completed. This idea is very interesting to me, and I want to see it approved with the least amount of changes possible, but I'm also very familiar with the hospitality industry and the risks of building a massive resort and not having people lined up to pay for their stuff prior to the land being worked on - or in this case the five billion plus expenditure. I know how frustrating it can be to have to go and add posts to development threads, so I'm going to try and come up with a solution to solve both of our problems:
  • Make a public IC thread, perhaps in the Open Role-Playing board, in which you pitch the sale for this, and draw in 10 or more posts from all participants, including the opening post. This will provide security for sales. I don't need to see a bunch of PCs accept the offer, that can be glossed over. This will work for a 10 post addition to your development thread, and you will also knock out the advertisement campaign right away.
The reason I want the 40 posts is because of the size of the ship. While I am aware that any ship over 2,400m requires a minimum of 30 posts with 3 writers, that is the absolute minimum, and anything over 3000m will generally increase that post requirement, and 4000 being essentially the absolute largest you could obtain without doing the flagship post and such will usually be a significant increase. While I am lenient, I am not so lenient that I will ask the minimum of you, but I am going to ask for an additional ten - whether that be with the suggestion I made above, or through a mere ten additional posts to your current development thread. If not, I am going to have to ask you to decrease the size of the ship, and thus create some issues with the sizes of the facilities.

Edit: To give some insight to my knowledge on the fail-rate of the hospitality industry (especially in the first year, which is 90% of all restaurants and hotels and resorts), I have worked for 7 years now in the hospitality industry and have attended a 4 year college focused on hospitality and culinary arts, having taken multiple classes that focus on how to run a resort/hotel/restaurant and the economics behind it.

The dev thread listed above has reached 41 posts, and the advertisement thread you suggested I do, has also been made and made it over 10 posts. That can be found here. I trust over 50 posts is good enough and satisfies the last of your requests?
