Lewis Roth was born to a noble family on Corellia. His Father, Jora Roth and his Mother, Kira Roth, were both wealthy merchants. Lewis was born with a rare disease that weakened his muscles. His parent's wealth provided enough medicine for him to manage the disease, however, and he spent most of his time inside reading. He grew up comfortable, in the lap of luxury, until the age of 9.
At the time, Jora was away on Tatooine with a merchant's caravan. The traders were attacked, and Jora was captured. The slavers kept him in chained in a cage until he could be ransomed. On the 12th night of his capture, Jora was approached by a mysterious traveler in a black robe. The man offered to free Jora, for an unspecified reward. Jora agreed. The man produced a red lightsaber, and slaughtered the slavers.
After he was free, Jora thanked the stranger and asked the man what he desired as a reward. the man simply said: "The first thing you see when you return home will suffice". The Sith took his leave, warning Jora to honor this agreement and that he would sense any deception.
Jora had little worry on his return home. He had very little that couldn't be replaced. He tried not to look anywhere in particular and opened the door.
Lewis leapt into arms. The boy was the first thing Jora saw.
Jora feared the Sith and so he sent the boy with him, when the man called again a month later. Lewis' last memory of his parents was his Mother's weeping face and his Father looking away.
The Sith's training was difficult. Lewis's condition meant that he had difficulty meeting the demanding regime. One night, his master had enough. He summoned three sith healers and cleansed the boy of the disease. The process remains the most painful experience in Lewis's life. The 'cure' gave him more control over his muscles, but unintentionally dulled his nerves. Satisfied, his Master trained him in the Sith arts but Lewis became curious about the practice of healing.
At the age of 18 his Master sent him away, deeming him old enough to travel on his own. Years since being cured had not tamed Lewis's curiosity for healing. He spent 5 years training in the force at a monastery on Rishi until he was confident in his abilities.
The last two years have been spent exploring the galaxy and learning his duties as a Sith. Sheltered for most of his life, Lewis realises that the galaxy is complicated place. He now seeks to find his place in all the chaos.
