Legacy

Lorna bit her tongue trying not to scream as she held up her hands. The training blade might not slice and sever her limbs but it didn't mean it wouldn't hurt her as its energy singed her palms, but underneath it was that sensation of energy a cooling breeze along her skin that shimmered blue lightly. That let her know it was working and just like all muscles she needed to work at it. "Aaarrggg" She finally let a scream out as her trembling hands came out and she was thrown back.

Her chest burned at the gulps of air she was greedily taking in and she punched the ground letting out a small shockwave of energy. It was there but it would be easier if she had gotten training from Selena or another member of her family if possible. Now she was trying to play catch up on a technique that was in her family to the detriment of most other skills. She would master it and use it to defend as that Corellian temper and defiance shown through for a moment with a grin. Standing up Lorna shook herself and spoke while the training drones hovered.

"Run it again."

Aika Kawakami

"System, standby."

Aika spoke out from a few feet behind the girl. She had easily sensed the girl before even laying eyes on her. The familiar signature; the temper she sensed form within. It was the same heat that had been felt once before, and it seemed to have followed her. Not that She minded. Actually, it pleased her to see that her apprentice had joined the Silver Jedi. It was easier to train her without someone watching her every move and questioning her motives. Everyday seemed to bring a new surprise, and make her choice to leave the Jedi Order all the better each time.

"You know, pushing yourself like that can get you killed. I'd prefer to see you as you are now, alive."

Lorna looked and stiffened a little at her master speaking. It had been a strange thing when she had disappeared at first. Then she had seen and heard and followed quickly, the jedi were strange or at least not soemthing she could stand. Some were great some were terrible and some were just strange it had made training strange to do. Now she was standing there and taking in more breaths until she heard her master speak more and turned around wiping at her matted hair sticking from sweat to her forehead. "Alive is good but I am not going to get good at this technique like Selena was if I don't practice. This is the better way to try it out. My master"

"Like Selena, you say? Now, would do you say that?" Her steps were slow, methodical in nature as she approached the girl, hands clasped behind her back. Her face was expressionless, not even blinking as she took each step, one after another. Aika had been just fine, but now it seemed as if something had changed. As if hearing what her apprentice said had gotten a rise out of her, though not in the way she would have wanted.

"Why do you mention her? Selena? Is it her you aspire to be? Do intend act in the same manner, and carry yourself the same? To be a clone? To lose the little bit of identity you still hold on to because you think her so great? Understand this, apprentice. I don't create clones. I don't train others so that they may imitate what they consider greatness. I teach my students to walk their own path. If it is Selena you aspire to be, then I suggest you move to find her. If it is a Force User of of competence and knowledge that you plan to be, then find who you are, and stand on your own two feet."

An eyebrow raised and a laugh came out as she held up her hands. "Not that deep master. No aspiration of being a clone or detached but Selena is a Halcyon as I am. It is in the blood, in the genes our families talents in the force and we haven't had many differences in centuries. All Halcyon's are terrible with telekinetics but we can take a heavy cannon to the chest and absorb it, we can't move a rock but a little focus and we can make you think we're moving it." Then her hands came down and Lorna looked at Aika more for how she was standing there and appearing. She was different from their small amount of time together before and now a bunch of questions came to mind about what had been happening.

"Why do we waste time on this one again? I don't understand what you see in her.."

Her slow steps finally came to a stop as she stood before the girl, the look upon her face unchanging. "I don't think you quite understand me, apprentice. Regardless of what those before you were known for, you can be whatever you choose to be. Whether that means swinging a blade, or moving mountains at your call. I was unable to do either, at my own beginning. However, I chose the path I now walk. I could've just as easily chose the same road you speak of, but it was not in my nature. I give you this task, apprentice. Meditate. Find who you are, and will find the path that leads to your future. And regardless of which path it is, I will guide you. As a master, and a friend."

For the first time since they had reacquainted, Aika's lips curved into a smile. Though only a slight one.

Lorna had a grin on her face to that, it wasn't because she didn't believe her master. No the opposite she trusted her more then enough to try that. She just also knew what her families talents were, it was something she was willing to do though when her master had given her the task. So Lorna moved back a little and offered a smile while she ran her hands through her hair kneeling down. Her knee's touching the floor for a moment as her hands clasped together and focused inwardly on the force as the coolness of her aura washed over her. The blue shimmering tickling her skin into goosebumps before acting like a wave along the skin.

Her lips curled into a grin, nodding as the girl kneeled upon the ground. Good. Now, focus on yourself. Find what you plan to accomplish, what you plan to bring to the galaxy in your lifetime. Then, let the Force guide you to finding your path, how you'll accomplish your goals. Understand that there is more than one way to pass through a door. One could break the door down. One could pick the lock, and slip through unnoticed. Or, one could simply knock. The question is; which one will you do?

Aika spoke to Lorna through the Force, from one mind to another. She wasn't angry. All she wanted was for the girl to find and walk her own path, and no one else's.

Lorna gave a small micro nod of her head in that moment and looked inward towards her own mind. Sifting through the thoughts and her motives for doing things. She cared about her cousin few people really understood blood to blood and they were skilled from long lines of power. Slowly Lorna focused on the question and her mind played through the scenarios. If she broke it down the risk of alerting and going into an attack was more likely, countered only by the same chance she had to surprise the ones inside. She could knock and be polite maybe get a look under false guise and prepare, picking the lock she could do much more and maintain the element of surprise. "I'd pick the lock."

Her grin grew a bit wider, another nod of her head. "I thought as much. That, my apprentice, is the path of the Sentinel. Selena walked the path of a Guardian, one who might break down the door. Yours is quite different. Unless a Consular, who ever relies on the Force, or a Guardian, who ever relies on a blade, a Sentinel uses a combination of their own personal abilities and the force to enhance them. They are the ones who generally find the most unconventional paths, and slide through them with ease that no one else could. It is a road that I see you excelling on. But we will have quite the bit of work ahead of us. After all, you seem to be determined to make that blade your be all, end all..."

Maybe... maybe she did think that but she also knew her family. Lorna remained there and thought about what her master said. Selena the one time she had seen her had been stoic... it wasn't coldness as others seemed to make it out to be it was an intensity shadows needed to do their work. Then they needed it to handle the stigma that came from others who called them warmonger and cruel, that was what disgusted her the most as Lorna spoke. "I understand master it will be something I shall endeavor to work on."

"Well, your work on that begins now." Her arm extended, hand open and palm upward. "You have a training saber, do you not? Relinquish it, or prove why you should have it." Her face returned to being expressionless, eyes locked onto those of her apprentice. She had no issue with her wanting to be close to her weapon, but to be reliant on it? Aika would have none of that. It was just another thing that seemed to separate her from the other Jedi. There were always two sides to each coin, and both of her sides were complete mysteries to all, even those close to her.

"So, which will it be?"

Lorna hid her confusion and knelt there as she focused bringing the saber to her hand and presenting it to her master. The training saber serving a small purpose, she knew enough to not chop a limb off and that was needed but beyond that... She had been focusing on her own skills within the force until now. Slowly Lorna exhaled while going over a small mantra in her head to reach a level of focus. She might not be able to use the floating meditation but dammit if she couldn't slip into serenity while thinking about what she was going to do. "I will wait until you believe I am ready for a saber my master."
